I think Journey has been doing an above average job on updates, showing real progress on getting the product together. Seeing the piles of production components as they are developed and produced gives me a good feeling, even though it is running late.
Hopefully, we receive Wave 1 in April/May, and Wave 2 by end of year. That would be great.
It's way out of scale for the 28mm figures that are the mainstay here. I'll happily admit that a main draw for me was a gakload of good looking Minotaurs (once stood next to a 28mm model. The game itself, I'm much more ambivalent on, since it's probably just going to be another boardgame, and not necessarily a great one that becomes a replay favourite.
Not backing this is something I really regret. The grunt minos aren't my cup of tea, at least the archers, and the single pose of them was a big negative for me, but everything else is awesome. If I had seen the size comparisons during the campaign I would've pledged for sure, because bigger is better. With actual monster sized minos compared to 28 mm stuff I'd have had less qualms about reposing and converting some of them seeing how they couldbe used in other games.
And my Spherewars Bullman would've felt right at home as a huge leader instead of being giant-sized in comparisom. Sigh.
Looking for a Skaven Doomwheel banner to repair my Nurgle knights.

I wouldn't overly regret it! They will of course be releasing at retail (and in a proper, non-KD kind of way) with the base box, expansions and some sort of smaller box sets for additional monster types. I imagine that with the retailer discount this will end up as only slightly more expensive than the Kickstarter, and you'll be able to spend money up front rather than wait a year and a half.
The only real "Kickstarter exclusives" you missed out on are some optional wings for the Dragon Princess, and the resins (some of which may eventually be for sale through their Hong Kong workshop).

With the Euro completly tanking, no, cratering compared to 2013, no SGs to "sample" the expansion minis and another Barrock and possibly international shipping without KS subsidies it's going to be A LOT more for way less I never see crazy deals on board games like some US stores have here in Germany. A 6 dollar (so, 4 2013€?) add-on back then (hug Panda warrior? YES, please) will probably be 10€ in a store here, IF someone carries it. 45€ expansions?
Meh, it's my own fault. I think I was wary because my first KS, Arena Rex, was supposed to ship during that time but was very late. THANKS, MIKH

Azazelx wrote: I certainly plan to repose quite a few of them. The mino-centaur things will make for fine Bull Centaurs as well.
I've wondered about this, but it seems like a lot of work would be required to convert them enough to have a varied unit.
I don't recall my cunning plans (it was awhile ago now) but it may have involved some nice thick armbands, and probably some wristbands. The odd broken horn, alternative horns and potentially some head swaps and even torso swaps between the various archers, bulls and bull centaurs. As well as the obvious, like weapons swaps from other ranges (Mantic Ogres, GW Orcs, etc) and armour/shields/etc swapped in/glued on/greenstuffed. They'll never look like fully individual figures, but they should be able to be mixed up a bit and look decent to good. After all, Mantic's Ogres only have 3 torsos and six heads (and not a lot of arm variations).
Yes, production delays did the usual thing, and they thought it made the most sense to ship in waves, which are going to be:
Wave 1 - base game, extras of any plastic models in the base game, Initiative markers, Plastic bridges, "All other resin scenery, doors, wells, etc".
Wave x - all of the non-scenery resin stuff (from pledges containing resin characters models). They are going to be sent directly from their workshop in Hong Kong, personally packed by Marrow. Don't know the timings, but they are independent of any Chinese factory production schedules.
Wave 2 - all of the remaining plastics & boardgame stuff, which is predominantly going to be the expansions and expansion-like content from the basic pledge.

Marrow Production wrote:Printing, packaging, shipping, etc, is on track, with printing being complete. We have a true production sample. So now is the time we need your correct address.
We must have your correct address before Sunday May 3rd (Hong Kong time). You have been able to change your addresses in the pledge manager for some time now and we hope most (all!!!) of you have given us a correct address.
In other words, Marrow is printing shipping labels starting Monday, so it's happening!
Marrow Production wrote:This is the fun part: We finally have a production copy of Journey in the office!!! You cannot imagine how nervous we were to open the box. If we saw a problem, it would have been too late to fix. But it was beautiful, much better than we expected.
We have seen many samples, but this box had two important differences from anything we saw before. First, this is the first time we have seen many of the finished items. For example the cards: we saw samples printed with the correct ink and we saw white cards embossed and coated. This was the first time we have seen our finished cards. Second and more importantly, this is the first time we have received all the items together, packaged correctly. In the past, we were shipped an empty box or a manual in an envelope, or bags of minis, etc. To unpack the box and see all the parts in their glory was eye opening. Here are some details and photos.
Spoiler:
Simply glorious, and I'm super-excited to get my copy!
(also, lots more pictures in the Update)
Plus unboxing video!

My group backed for pretty much all of the gameplay content, and I'm super glad we did. There's a couple months logistics for shipping, customs, etc., so I'm hoping to receive by end of Q2 (June 30).

Completing complex customs paperwork for each location has caused a significant delay. The core game is completely packaged but cannot leave China before this paperwork is complete. Trust us, we are just as frustrated as you.
We have worked hard on this and it is almost resolved. We are just waiting for final confirmations. Here is the current situation:
USA & Canada Hub: The container vessel leaves China on June 12 and arrive in the U.S around July 13.
EU Hub: We are awaiting final details and we will update the confirmed ship date soon.
Australia and New Zealand Hub: We are close to complete, but we do not have specifics yet. Once we have more solid information we will update you.
Rest of the world: Shipping will begin next week.
More info to follow – we still need to focus on the last part of this problem. We will post another shipping update with new estimates for delivery.
Thank you so much for all your patient and support with us!
Product on skids, US-bound hitting the water tomorrow! It's really happening!
- The transport ship for the US distributor is well into its journey and should arrive at the mid of July.
- Shipping to EU is still on hold, due to paperwork issues.
- Shipping to Aus/NZ is still on hold, due to paperwork issues.
- Direct mail to other locations will start on Monday, June 22nd.
So the direct mail packages will probably be the first to arrive! We really hope these lucky backers enjoy their first game! The two shipments on hold should go soon. Everything is ready on our end: they are packed on pallets, address lists are ready, etc, etc. We are waiting for paperwork from the destination and then they can go. We are in constant contact with the parties doing the paperwork and we are trying to hurry this along as much as possible.
We are looking at how tracking numbers will be sent out and will update you when we have more info. We expect every package to be tracked, but the specifics will vary by region.
Now that Wave 1 is taking less of our time, we can share some information about what’s to come. We still need to finish Wave 1, so we’d like to start with something simple: here are pictures of the completed Yau Demon master sculpts.
I really like Ray’s work on this mini. It has great presence and power, and with all the detail, it should be fun to paint. It is a little different from the concept art, but I think all the changes are improvements.
If the US ship arrives mid-July, backers could start receiving base game late July through August. Cool!
