The errors there were in execution IMO, but I also understand why a studio would be reluctant to pony up significant bank after those flops.
I'm still wait-and-see on WW in the next movie, but I will admit the exec a) seems to be dodging the question, and b) seems to indicate that they already have a larger plan in place for the DC universe.
Exactly.
One could connect some dots and say that perhaps a good way for the studio to avoid going all-in on WW would be to introduce her in another film and gauge interest.
There are multiple recent quotes out there from WB execs saying she's one of the top 3 priorities right now among those characters. So they're definitely talking about the character, but who knows how that will shake out. I have read that casting agencies have assumed that female role is for Diana, but they obviously could be wrong.
There is nothing wrong with it, but what you can do with a straight to DVD animated film isnt the same as what you can do in a big budget live action film, and the audiences and return on investment have a different scale.
I thought they had gone on record to say that the Wonder Woman reception was less popular than even the Green Lantern ones, which were still popular enough to have what? 2 sequels out by now?
WW animated movie with Nathan Fillion was awesome. I wasn't disappointed by a single thing in it. If they could work in a similar vein, but live action, it would be amazing.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Can the character really be this hard to write ? Is she that odd ?
Oh.
Oddly enough also saw the 1st ever WW comic I ever read, when I was very young ... might even have been the first super hero comic ( imported anyway) that I ever read..?

But she kicks his arse in the next issue.
Despite the deployment of truly terrifying weapons
How will she save the day !
Spoiler:
Meanwhile down below, the panicking crowd see Wonder Woman return with another Reah in her lasso. A policeman stares in disbelief, thinking she has lost her mind in bringing yet another bird into the melee. But the Amazon knows what she is doing and has noticed that all the Reahs are male. As she presents them with a female she has borrowed from the Washington Zoo, the real birds are attracted to the female, leaving Wonder Woman with the easy job of rounding up the remaining robot birds. She lassos them and towing them into the sky using her invisible plane, she detonates them harmlessly.
.. so it all comes down to sex once again !

Batman
Probably the last superhero one might expect to be a good match for Wonder Woman is the dark, grim and decidedly unlucky-in-love Batman, which is probably precisely why Joe Kelly decided to explore such a relationship during his 2003-2004 run on JLA. During the storyline “The Obsidian Age,” in which the Justice League journeyed into the ancient past in order to save a time-lost Aquaman, Batman and Wonder Woman prepared to fight their enemies to the death and, before doing so, they surprised one another (and a lot of readers) by sharing a kiss. Once all the resurrection, time-travel, villain-fighting and day-saving was out the way, the two put off having to talk about their kiss for awhile, with Batman being the more reluctant of the two, even standing Wonder Woman up on at least one occasion.
Ultimately, Wonder Woman used Martian Manhunter’s Martian Transconsciousness Articulator, a doohickey that plays out various possible futures in dream-like fashion for the user, in order to determine that maybe she and Batman were better off just being friends and teammates.
The Batman/Wonder Woman romance is a favorite of longtime fans, largely because of its role in the Justice League and Justice League Unlimited animated series that broadcast between 2001 and 2006. The relationship developed remarkably organically for a superhero action series, with both parties falling for each other’s obviously admirable qualities in a way that seemed to humanize them both. Memorably (but weirdly), the sorceress Circe transformed Diana into a pig. In order to save Wonder Woman, Batman was forced to testify to his love for the Amazon princess in the form of song.

Nice posts, red. The uniform in live action needs to move firmly away from being fetish gear, IMO. Seems to me that it'd be easy to transition it into something that hits the "classical Greco-Roman" and "warrior" points better anyway.
Turn the corset into more of a cuirass, and the stripper boots into boots and greaves...give her the sword and larger bracers like in current continuity, and a Roman-style leather skirt...modify the tiara into something providing a little cheek protection, a la Alan Moore's Promethea...and I think they'd have something.
Regarding a Bats-WW romance, that mystery athletic woman in the new movie is also listed as being a Bruce Wayne love interest. Although honestly, I like that DC's been exploring Supes and WW as a couple. Those two getting together would be more or less inevitable.

Batman has had Green, Blue, Yellow, and White at some point. He's rejected them all(except in an Elseworlds story where he kept the Green).

Hallowed is the All Pie The Before Times: A Place That Celebrates The World That Was
I saw that short film before. It's a good effort, no doubt. I think the costume is almost there.
In general, I feel like WW needs her "I'm Batman" moment. Showing my age here perhaps, but it was that scene in the Burton movie with Michael Keaton holding the thug over the ledge that introduced a modern Batman to the general public. Sure, comic book readers knew about Frank Miller, etc., but to the average person in the U.S. (can't speak for Europe, etc., but I imagine it was the same), Batman was Adam West and a campy joke until that scene. It was probably the thing that he nailed most in that whole movie...he got it that he needed to *end* the Adam West notions right from the start.
WW needs that moment that makes the average moviegoer say "wow, she's gorgeous, feminine, a real warrior, strong as Superman, fights like Batman, and a bada$$ that just might remove your head from your neck if she thinks it's necessary."
I know a lot of people really don't like Zach Snyder, but I personally thought MoS was a strong effort, and think that he can probably deliver that for WW in the BvS film or maybe the JL film.
Although I still think that Ben Affleck wasn't only brought on board to act.
