You see alot of posts about which army should I start, just wondering what armies do people never want to jump into. Doesn't have to mean you don't like said army, just you never intend on going there.

For me...

1. Chaos Space Marines
Mainly because If I ever want to play a Space Marine Equivilant army I would just play Space Marines

2. Tau
Too static for my taste. I realize they don't have to be played that way but...

3. Guard
If I wanted to start a hoard army I would go Orks, and going Mech is pretty expensive especially with all those pretty Forge World tanks I would want to buy.

Guard

Too based in real life military in my personal opinion. Playing a fantasy/sci-fi game and your taking that aspect out of it. And yes, I realize all kinds of fantasy mmos on the net still have humans as most populous, does not make it any less boring for me.

warhammer 40k mmo. If I can drive an ork trukk into the back of a space marine dread and explode in a fireball of epic, I can die happy!

Imperial Guard - too realistic

Necrons - not enough personality for me, although their new codex improved on this from the last one

Space Marines - I prefer my power armoured super humans evil and with spikes, guess that's why I only read the heresy books that are mostly about the traitors (well except for Deliverance Lost).

Chaos Daemons- Just not really into their fluff.
Sisters of Battle- Really expensive and I'm not a big fan of their fluff as well.
Necrons- Don't much like the new models for their flashy Egyptian-esque design.
Tyranids- If I wanted a melee horde army I've arleady got my Orks. Also Nids don't have tanks (MC's just aren't quite the same).
Blood Angels- Their fluff isn't as interesting to me as the DA or SW, the other two out of C:SM chapters, and I've already got a melee marines army with my Templars.

Space Wolves: Marines+Wolf=Better? Ehh... maybe, if they tone down the wolf aspect. Or rolled them into the codex.

Dark Eldar: Cool models but I don't care for their fluff too much. "We are pirates on drugs. Yay!.

Tyranids: The flesh is weak! Plus I think their models are goofy looking.

Death Korps of Krieg: Holy Boloney those prices pass.

Chaos Space Marines: Until they make Horde power armor viable no.

Grey Knights: Not because of their infamous past, not because of lolward fluff and not because they are space marines in silver. I won't play them because I don't think Grey Knights should be able to deploy as a big army. Maybe if they went back to Codex: Witchhunters I'd go for them. ...But feth their models are sweet.

Daemons of Chaos: I just think it's dumb that they can run around and kill heavily armored troops with nothing more than their talons n stuff. In Fantasy Battle I'll do them for sure. In 40k? Pass.

Sisters of Battle: 80 dollars for a infantry squad?!! Screw you, GW!

Now if plastics came out... I'd totally make one.

Dark Angels. Not because I have anything against them, but because I used to have Space Wolves and currently have loads of BA and generic Marines, so another Marine army would just be over the top.

Tyranids. I hate horde armies, and if I wanted a tiny force of monsters, it would be Daemons, not Nids.

In addition, there are armies that are completely out of the question now, but could be possible in the future, and these are:

Orks, Dark Eldar, Necrons.

Same reason for all of them: I like them, but there's no army list that really catches me. Not necessarily in the competitive sense, but rather with regards to a list that I really get excited about.

orks - I'm not a fan of the models or fluff
nids - I like the fluff, but the models for the core troops don't impress me (and I'm not about to buy 100+ of something that doesn't float my boat).
GW's IG - once you've held an elysian or DKoK you just cannot go back to the cadians/catachans.
spacewolves - not the biggest fan of the fluff or the viking-like appearances.

The darkness between the stars

SoB- I like them but DAT price tag
Tau- just not my thing. They feel super immobile castle let me sit and shoot you off the map. And their naivety bothers me.
SW- just... wolf. That aside, I think their fluff in codex is okay bar the obsession with wolves but I admit outside flute has made me grow to dislike. Not only did they slaughter my favourite legion but it seems as though BL SW fluff has the largest tendency of going OTT bolter data slates of fun.

Imperium of man: Either to expensive (AS/IG) or too generic (SM and their brothers). Of course, if the price is right on these girls, I could see myself doing Sororitas or an all female IG company.
Chaos/CSM: Never been a big fan of daemons or their misguided playthings. Of course the Renegade and Heretics might be fun, but again, see above regarding IG.
Necrons: These guys piss me off too much to want to play.

I already play Nids and Eldar (and dabble in DEldar) and I like some of the Tau stuff.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Eldar, Dark Eldar, or Tau. The models for these armies just don't do it for me. I know Eldar and Tau are really good right now, which peaks my interest, but I hate the models and they just don't fit the look of grim dark that I like.

The Tau model line doesn't interest me.
Craftworld Eldar aren't all that interesting to me, on the tabletop. Love their fluff though.
Loyalist Space Marines bore the hell out of me.

to be honest id start any army, but as right now with the look of the 6th editions codex id only start a new army if it had a 6th dex. Not just because its new and shiny but i dont see a point in buying a 5th dex playing like 6 games with it than paying for the new one.

Tau- Don't like the fluff or most of the models.

Nids- as above.

Demons- as above.

Eldar- kind of like the fluff, and some models are awesome, but there are some I really don't like.

DE- Not a fan of half the models and all the fluff.

Sisters of Battle- GW already craps on me enough, I don't need to beg for it.

Tau- only because of the new codex.

Anything horde is out of the question for me at this point.

Pretty much i'd only be interested in starting imperial fists for the time being.

I do love ork fluff, but once again another horde army. I need a army i can complete in under 50 models.

IG - Too much like modern military (22 years is enough)
Space Marines - Love the fluff, dislike the look of the models for some reason.
Tau - Like the regular troops (firewarriors and such) but hate that the rest looks like a horrible parody of anime mechs

Tau: Enough of my friends already play them and I don't want to add to that Tau-fest. Secondly I just don't like the aesthetics of the larger Tau models although I can't pinpoint why

Blood Angels: Hate painting that shade of red and never like the slightly vampire vibe they give off. Oh, and I already have marines of other types so no reason to start another (same reasoning could apply to Grey Knights, Space Wolves and Dark Angels)

Necron - Boring models and boring fluff.

IG - Too bland for me, too much like real life i feel.

Space Wolves - The idea of space Vikings is just dumb.

Funny as the reasons against IG ITT are the exact reason I went for them. I play a mixed foot guard (napoleonics/ww1 IN SPACE!) and mech ( panzer grenadiers IN SPACE!) list. As a military history student it's a sci fi wet dream.

On topic though for me it's Necrons. I like playing against them and their fluff is okay but they just seem very lacking in personality and character.

Orks - Hate the fluff and the atrocious forced humour. Models aren't great either.

Imperial Guard - Nothing wrong with them per se, but if I had that particular itch, I'd probably go all the way to playing games like Bolt Action, Flames of War, etc.. . No need for them in 40K.

Blood Angels - Waaaay to similar to vanilla marines in my opinion and I find the fluff really boring

Adepts Sororitas - There's no way I'm paying 90-ish$ per squad. That and I was never into digital codexes.

Orks- Already have a massive IG army. I tried them but I couldn't wrap my head around them.

Chaos- Meh, just don't feel like it.

Tau- hate the fluff for them. and the fact that they always seem to win

Tyranids: again, don't want another Horde army.

Space Marines: Besides "standard" marines which I have a small custom detachment of, I won't bother getting other types of marines , Dark angels, space wolves etc.

Generally, I don't want another army since I already have 1 big one and a small secondary one.

Regiment: 91st Schrott Experimental Regiment
Regiment Planet: Schrott
Specialization: Salvaged, Heavily Modified, and/or Experimental Mechanized Units.

I'd not start any non-Space Marine army, because I have a lot of Space Marine models and have no desire to spend more money buying more models.
