If true what would that set cost? $200? $250? More?

Not something for me, but I'd love to flip through the Adeptus Astartes model showcase book.

I know that GW makes most of their cash through Space Marines and there's always been a favouritism and focus on that particular product range but even as a hobby casual, I feel like they're really starting to milk this cow a bit much.

Surprised there's not an even more limited edition that comes with a full chapter deal , I'd be pissed If I'd bought the chapter but couldn't get the deluxe edition book.

More ways to get people to spend money after they've bought all the plastic toys they care to. Personally, I'll pass. Nothing remotely interesting in any of their limited edition stuff.

Still, grab your bucket of popcorn cause the rabid GW haters are gonna find this thread sooner or later.

Im going to call it now. Pretre, don't add me to the list.

A super-duper deluxe master collector's edition that includes Codex SM, AS, Inq, GK and IG. That'll be 600$ please. To pay for the leatherette case, you see.

Still no love for the Dark Angels, because screw them.

Hmm, wish I wouldn't have bought the Salamanders and Successors books now. That 72 page Marine art book would be nice to have as well as the EM book. Although, the last LE marine books sold for around $125 from GW, so I am assuming/betting this will be closer to $250 with all the extras and leather - ouch!

I was buying every LE book (minus the two Tau LE books as I didn't like the covers as much), but they are starting to pump these out like candy... going to have to pass on this like I did with the LE visions of heresy book.

I'll be waiting and saving my cash for the "super rare exclusive special 3d Gamma edition" of Codex Dark Angels!

God this is so stupid. I remember when codecs were just little paperback books to use to play your army with. GW has really jumped the shark and are treating them like they're comic books now. He'll not, even marvel/DC, which make books people actually care about, aren't as bad with the limited edition crap.

Adeptus Astartes: shows off every Space Marine miniature painted by the eavy metal team

If sold separately I could see myself getting this. If the price was no higher than $25-30, and if it contained 'Eavy Metal painting guides, other than "this colour, then that colour".

Lots of ifs there. None of which will be met of course Whoever buys this may God spare him from buyers remorse.

This would also be an awesome use of the digital format, allowing for the image zooming, 3D rotations and all the other stuff they shoe horn into things that don't really demand it.

"God this is so stupid. I remember when codecs were just little paperback books to use to play your army with"

This...

I started playing 40k back in 3rd edition, and there have been 4 different Space Marine books since that time (12 years or so?). They were fairly cheap so I didn't mind buying all the new books and keeping the old ones for their art/fluff/etc. I know they are releasing hardbacks with supplements/FAQ to extend the life of these books and 6th edition, but I worry that we will see a new edition or a new codex in 4-6 years (look at fantasy).

Which is why buying all the hardcover codex books is a bit of a gamble imho, and buying all the LE books (or a super expensive LE book like this) worries me. Look at the past marine LE codex book from 4th edition... it's practically worthless now (but it did contain the best shrike and lysander art).

These books will never retain their value because in the long run they are just rulebooks... they are not akin to the Horus Heresy books where they are a novel and exclusive books retain or even gain value. I hope they go back to LE minis

Look, GW really wanted the Dewbacks and AT-AT walkers in the Elite section of the book but at the time speciel effects couldn't render that. Now every page in the Marine Codex can have a Dewback and/or AT-AT walker , just as GW intended.

So let's quickly attempt to delegitimise any concerns or complaints they might have by referred to them as "rabid GW haters" ahead of time, amirite?

These will be near worthless as soon as GW re-release the game in four years time. GW's policy of rehashing the game so frequently undermines the appeal of these I would have thought. Books from Rogue Trader are worth a lot and increase in value, even 2nd edition has sought after things, no one wants books from 3rd and 4th edition.

Thing is, I would actually buy a nice copy of the Rogue Trader rules, because mine are falling apart. But GW won't do that even if companies like Wizards if the Coast do with old D&D editions.

Those AT-AT Walkers better also be forging narratives if they're going to be on every page!
