My support of Double CAD didn't have anything to do with the theme. That was my support for more than 2 detachments in 6th Because I wanted to make a robot army of doom!
Double CAD to me is about a more level playing field overall and a more mutable meta.
But as long as we are allowed to use all the Detachments that come out in codexes in addition to a CAD it'll probably be alright. Just not till all armies have updated codexes in another 2 years or so. Till then we'll languish in a halfway point of CAD + Self Allying.......

Going forward I'm thinking that a two faction limit might be better than two detachments. When building lists it sucks that a formation locks you out of another formation or allies.

Hawk Wargames / Dropzone Commander will be there in person providing Demos all weekend long. Establishing a formal DzC tournament will require the availability and commitment of a lead to run it, and is something we're eagerly hoping will avail itself for the 2015 CY.
PS - Looks like some folks started listening about the hotel rooms nearly being out, as we picked up another bunch last night ... which also means there's even less available now. Reminder - if you do not get in the block before it runs out (And it is going to run out), you're going to have to pay up to $100/night more for your rooms over the $89/night we've been able to negotiate for our block. I cannot increase the block this year contractually (though it is quite large!).
As an additional update, the 40K NARRATIVE EVENT, which has a 7-game Warlords track and a 4-game Nightfighters track (if you want to play the GT or other things also), and which is the event of which we are perhaps most proud at NOVA (it's our own unique background universe, we have our own radical professionally done concept art for it, and the players get to become a part of the story for all time), is now over 50 registered players between the Warlords and Nightfighter (Warlords games includes the Nightfighter games, so you have a 32-player capped Warlords track, and then all others along with the Warlords in every night round).
We'll be updating our unique Codex Supplements over the next week to adjust for 7th edition, Astra Militarum, and Orks, also, giving players some playtested but intriguing ways to play some of the more popular aesthetics of the various codices that are not always very feasible due to internal codex imbalance.

Hey Mike,
Quick question. The Multi-Codex ruling for the how dreadnoughts take damage from an exploding zooming Stormraven doesn't seem to be neededl as the actual rules written into the SM codex that tell you how it affects a Dread. (as well as the BA & GK codexes)
It basically says it's just a St10 hit on the rear if its rear if it's zooming and a St4 hit if it's hovering. So no need to rule on the radom facing or how it takes hits as far as I can see.
Figured I'd throw it out there Didn't realize that dreads can't actually die anymore from a zooming raven going boom which is kinda nice.

Yeah, that's just an oversight to tweak out.
FYI for those that only read recent posts, please go back to Page 9 and check two key posts on room availability and the charity.
With re: room availability - we are super excited from a financial poitn of view because we've crushed our room night minimums. We are super concerned from an attendee point of view because if the room block runs out, you'll be paying $100/night more.
Follow links on page 9 to go reserve your room now and don't let yourself end up paying $189/night instead of $89/night. This especially applies to those who've already registered and are just slackers ... we aren't going to break our refund policy b/c you miss out on the hotel and can't afford DC hotel rates outside what we've negotiated (which we spent hours of blood, sweat, and tearful negotiations participating in because we luff you guys!).

Hi everyone. This is Joey McGuire from World's End Publishing and I wanted to welcome one and all down to Demo Alley at the Nova Open to not only check my upcoming game This Is Not A Test, but the other great games as well. I will be there running plenty of demos for my post-apocalypse skirmish game This Is Not A Test, but I will also be bringing some really cool terrain and sneak previews of my upcoming miniatures line. Thanks.

Radical stuff, Joey - we're really excited to see you at NOVA this year.
Update on the Narrative, folks -
There are only 3 spots left for the Human Faction in the Warlords GT-level 7-game Narrative event, and only 6 spots left for the Virtue faction.
Army construction for the Narrative is
2000 Points
Battle-Forged Army Construction (no further restrictions)
Forgeworld Allowed broadly
Lords of War will be selectable from a constructed list that we'll be publishing shortly

Excited about Simon at DZC demo'ing his game all weekend. We're also going to add a couple hours of face-time for all attendees with him in the Charity Lounge with the next schedule update of free lounge talks.
Overwhelmed with how awesome NOVA is looking to be this year, and how much work we're putting in getting ready for the 5th Anniversary.
A special note - if you've attended all 4 previous NOVA Opens, make sure you show for this one ... there may or may not be a lil something special for the first-5-year attendees.

Troy has it right!
If you're interested in playing Battle Forged 40k with Forgeworld and no further restrictions, you really should check out the Narrative.
If you're interested in playing fully unrestricted 40K (including Unbound), you should check out the Trios event.
Plus, you can do both of these while still participating in one of the largest, coolest, sweetest, baddest-assed-terrain, heaviest-attended GTs on Madre Earth ... we made the schedule extra special just to let you.

Hey Mike,
My buddy and I are registered for the Narrative Warlords track and couldn't be getting more excited. However - any news on when updated "supplements" will go live? Additionally, if I run "Clan Raukaan" can I still benefit from the NOVA Narrative supplement for Space Marines for my given faction?
Thanks a bunch!

Hey JL, we'll have the updated supplements, primer, yada yada for all our events by August 1, so hang tight just a bit longer.
I'll tell you that we have made an effort not to chnage supplements for 7th except where necessary to ensure they remain relevant and intriguing to take.
Also, yes, you can stillt ake Clan Rauukan, presuming you still follow all the fundamental changes of the Narrative Supplements. You actually still have to pick a Chapter, as you would with a normal marine list.

Pretty sure I just said it's not about theme for me. However it's also not about just spamming units. It's about a mutable meta that has the ability to shift and flex based on changed made by new formations, codexes, and supplements. But by all means, don't bother reading what I actually wrote
