Hah, that's pretty sweet. I like the bases, and it's an interesting color scheme.

I just finished up my first Plague figures and was starting on Enforcers. I saw the colour scheme above and now I'm in two minds about what colours to do mine in. grrr. :-P

A wet bank holiday in the UK meant I finished off my Stage 1 and Stage 2 plagues.
Thank goodness my lad's got a Minecraft addiction and gave me some quiet time :-)

I did the wall the Stage 2 was leaping over to match the scenery scheme I've been painting.

Very nice!

It also highlights a problem, for me anyway, with the Plague in terms of the models.

The Gen 1 monster is fantastic!

Everything else?

Pretty crappy.

I dunno, I like all of the plague models. They're all in basically the same proportions, it just isn't obvious from the pictures. They all have massive shoulders and chests, ''supertorsos'', and long arms. The more bulk tends to fill them out and look better. Faces (especially the 2nd gens) are probably their weakest points.

Nice paint work, looking forward to your enforcers

I'm afraid I have to agree with Alpharius on the Plague. Mantic got what they paid Remy extra to sculpt with the 1st Gen - a stand-out figure to lead the faction and represent Deadzone. The in-house sculpted 2nd and 3rd Gens, however, make the Plague far and away my least favorite faction models.

At least, my least favorite before I monkey around with them. I find that swapping out the 2nd Gens' heads and arms works wonders - the torsos are great, the legs are alright, but the current 2nd gen arms in particular just don't work. I was recently surprised to find that head swaps alone can dramatically improve the 3rd gens, which I had previously thought were beyond help. I actually like them now.

My Plague is now in the planning stages (I've finally nailed down how exactly I want to change them and obtained the necessary bits for each model.) When I actually get them assembled, I'll post some pics.

How does the alpha simian compare in size to a tau broadsides or riptide? I'm working on a conversion and need a big ape.
Thanks in advance,

Old broadside, it would be a pretty decent size comparison. It's quite a bit smaller than a riptide though, and I have no idea on new broadsides. But definitely too small for a 'tide.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I feel the same way. The only plague model I actually like is the g1. To the point where I plan to sell my plauge.

I actually feel the opposite way. Before release the Plague were the faction I was least looking forward to, but once I got my hands on them that all changed.

Yeah I really like the plague. When I go beyond my initial 'strike team from every faction' goal, plague will be where I look first. I especially like that when combined with the new zombies, my sedition wars box, and possibly my corporation zombie marines... I will have a new combined undead/virus/zombie army of doom!

Oh, don't get me wrong. By the time I'm done modding my Plague, I'll really like them too. Just not crazy about them as is.

I have some Sedition Wars Strain figures too, GrimDork, and I like them quite a bit. Thing is, they're pretty much the visual opposite of the Plague: Strain grunts are hand-to-hand only, while most of the heavy hitter 2nd Gen-sized Strain have prominent guns (the Brimstones and Cthonians). There's also the techno-organic look the Strain have going vs. the Plague's entirely organic nature.

Anyhow GrimDork, a bit of fluff manipulation can make anything work, but I'm curious as to how you're blending the Plague and Strain, since I plan to do that myself down the line. Might crib a few ideas from you.

I'll let you know once I figure it out . Currently mesmerized by my infinity queue.

I'm thinking the Nemisis is some kind of evil AI or entity, maybe hive mind ish, that has coopted all of these mutant/zombie/techzombie critters by piloting their empty minds, or rewriting them in the case of the plague. The sedition wars stuff will probably be getting added in for the warpath level, where you have more along the lines of hordes or mobs, and they'll be mix and matched. May give some of the necrophage dudes some hassle free guns eventually. Might consider full on splicing them too.... not sure yet.

Thanks, I can't understand why so many people are complaining about the Stage 3s. I think they're great models.

Actually, I don't dislike all of them. I rather like the grenade launcher guy from the booster and the painted grunt in your post above is my favorite Stage 3 model from the starter set batch. I won't be modding either of those, they're good as is.

Very nice paint job on the plague grunt and enforcers, by the way!

Probably because they take the worst aspects of the "Mantic House Style" and exaggerate it even more?

Clearly personal opinions will vary, but they're a real 'swing and miss' for me.

Something about proportions I think. Then I think, but mutants? But to each their own, I quite like mine.

I know there's no point trying to make objective claims about which models are and aren't good. The Deadzone models could do with assembly instructions, and some of the mold lines are beyond my ability to remove, but I've enjoyed painting all of them. Grimdork is right about the proportions, but like a lot of models they look good once you have a few of them side by side.

Damn, I havent posted here for ages. Getting a little behind on all the Deadzone painting, even more so now that my second box of goodies have arrived but before I even think about touching them I've got to get through the first batch.

For now here are a few more from the Marauder faction.

Next ones on the painting block are the Ripper suits... Its a mixture of dread and anticipation
