Hello! Discovered Deadzone a while back, and been taking a much needed break from Grim and Dark. Been VERY impressed with the battlezones terrain, and finishing a board was the first thing I did. But just recently I posted my just-finished plague in the facebook deadzone group and it's been very well received, so I thought I'd post it here too.

I used craft-store glow in the dark paint (americana brand) slathered over black primer, and drybrushed tan/khaki on the models, then picked out details as normal. The photo was a ten-second exposure in a mostly dark room, after charging the glow....so unfortunately this effect is unnoticeable on a normal gaming table, but here it is anyway. Enjoy!

Edit: Just realized someone posted them above.... Yes, these are mine, glad you guys like them!

Very nice work!! It's definitely unique and would be awesome for a late night Halloween game in the dark!

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Thanks for the kind words. I think I posted the captain a long time ago in this very thread, but just in case:

Ah yes I remember him now, you went for a different uniform colour for your squad so that's probably why I couldn't remember you posting him before.

Oh well, this took a lot longer than I was expecting, I kinda got side tracked and spent the last 3 days round a friends house playing Space Hulk and getting drunk but back now and another ripper suit done.

It suddenly occurred to me after painting these two models, 80's cartoons subliminally influence some of my decisions even when I think I've came up with an original idea, hereIi was thinking "hey, I'll have a demolition and military themed ripper suit" when what was really happening was a little voice in the back of my head yelling "POWER EXTREME!!!"

Ahh- fond memories of that show. Used to watch it all the time after school.

the odd thing is I had completely forgot about that cartoon until after I had finished painting those figures.

I think I used to have some action figures for Centurions at some point.

On topic: I'm having a bit of a hiatus from Deadzone painting to work on my Dark Eldar in 40K. Hence the lack of postings here. Still twiddling my thumbs as to what colours to go with for the buildings.

Hey All, just finished the first Mawbeast for the Marauders, I didn't like the chainsaw mouth so I removed it. I'm still not totally sure if i like how he came out, what's everybody's opinion?

The bright orange mane is nifty. While I have grown to like the chainsaw mouth, but your version works nicely.

Over the past two weeks, I've been cranking out Asterians. Here they are:

I'll give them a little write-up in my painting blog when I have time to sit down and type.

So those of you who requested (okay, you freaking demanded) Ultron for my Asterians...I did a test run getting the proper metallic color on one of the gun platforms. It looks like the classic Ultron action figure (color wise). It's still drying, and I still need to add red bits. But the color is spot on.

Here was the test model. The flash on my iPhone was a pain in the ass, so hopefully the image shows well on here. It's perfectly colored on the table, so I hope the picture does it justice.

*edit* After seeing it on here, no, it doesn't do justice. the model looks far superior on my table. Unfortunately, I expected this possibility with using the metallic blue. Used black primer, then ice blue heavy dry brushed onto it, followed by a watered down runefang silver to give it the metallic sheen.

I could see how it might look much better in person. The picture/my monitor isn't letting me see much blue, it looks kind of like mithril silver actually. That and whatever degree of colorblindness I have.

Mithril and Runefang are the same (according to GW). But yeah, even a small image on my phone shows the blue coming through clearly. Sadly, the color combinations don't seem to show well on camera. I'll see how it goes when the full squad is done. Oh, and the leader is NOT being painted up as Ultron. He has a cape. You can all figure out the rest. He ties in though.

They are PDC Gaming bases. They ran a Kickstarter last year, opened a webshop, and then disappeared. At least I got the bases I pledged for, if not the other stuff I ordered from them after.

timetowaste85 - did you ever post your Sgt Howlett? I have been watching the threads and don't recall seeing the Wolverine paint job.

@imaginos: I haven't yet. Work kicked me in the ass, and I got him almost fully done, then had to stop for a bit. I'll try to get him finished this evening.

So, I know it took me forever...sorry guys!! Howlett is up!! The claw device on his right arm is not quite as detailed as the rest of him, but they've clearly built the model to be Wolverine-like. Even the lines in the helmet are positioned properly to resemble his mask.

Ulsterian Squad: two with palm blasters, two with regular guns, one with a plasma style gun (don't remember any of the names off my head for these guys). But other than their shoulder wings, these guys do really look like Ultron. Good call guys, convincing me to do this instead of Z-Bots.

edit-And Vision is coming along nicely.
