Warner Bros. has its Wonder Woman, according to a report from Newsarama.
Gal Gadot, best-known for her roles in the “Fast and the Furious” films, has been selected to wear the tiara and bracelets of DC Comics’ Amazon heroine in the upcoming “Superman-Batman” film. (Though given the changes some of DC’s costumes have gone through in translation to film, I suppose neither the bracelets or tiara are a given.)
“Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe,” Snyder said in a statement. “Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.”
According to Yahoo, Gadot, who is 5’9”, began her career as a model, and was won the title of Miss Israel at age 19.
The Batman vs. Superman film is set for a July 17, 2015 release, and has not yet been officially titled. The “Man of Steel” sequel will return Henry Cavill as Superman and star Ben Affleck as Batman.
Gadot is best known for her role in the second “Fast Trilogy,” starring as Gisele Yashar in Fast and Furious, Fast Five, and Fast & Furious 6. She played a pivotal role in the action franchise as a member of the team of fast-driving vigilantes alongside Vin Diesel and the recently (and suddenly) deceased Paul Walker.
She's too small. No offense to the lady or anything but Wonder Woman is an amazon. We need some muscle on those bones. Not like world's strongest woman muscle, but a woman can be attractive without having stick arms, especially when playing a warrior princess. We need someone along the lines of Lucy Lawless here XD
That might not be an insurmountable issue. Chris Hemsworth looks absolutely enormous as Thor, but if you see him in Cabin in the Woods, he's a normal size guy. With good camera angles it shouldn't make a difference.

Honestly I think with the right training regimen she can definitely get there. Remember how Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans talked about the thing they hated the most for their roles as Thor and Captain America?
The diet and exercise regimen to make them go from "normal" to "superhero".
Have you seen the cover for the N52 Justice League graphic novel? Or the DC deckbuilder box, for that matter. She looks 14. This actress is guaranteed to look older. I haven't actually heard of her, so idk what she looks like yet. Off to google.
Ok, I looked her up. Face works for me, but she needs a bigger chest. Not being "a guy" here, just that her bust size is far too small to be Wonder Woman-in any format.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

That's exactly what I keep telling my wife...it's a bad angle!

As much as I want to hate this, sometimes counter intuitive choices work out, like Heath Ledger or Michael Keaton. I think a character like Wonder Woman is hard for studio execs to get their head around. It often seems in their mind women are either models or athletic, but not both.

THinking about it, maybe that applies to the audience as well XD

Certainly. Those people are no picnic either.
Gina Carano may have been a good choice, as anyone who has seen Haywire knows she can do stupidly intense fight scenes. SHe isn't the greatest actor, but then neither are Henry Cavill or Ben Affleck.

I thought Wonder Woman was a demigod huntress/warrior chick, not a vaguely emaciated brunette. Evidently I was in error.

Edit: TBH, for me perfect casting would be someone like Brienne from GoT, someone with the physical presence, it's wonder woman, not wonder teeny bopper.
She's fairly attractive outside of the show's ugly makeup, too so that would tick the hollywood requirement:
6' 7" in those heels and most men would be below her shoulder.

Well, at least they've finally admitted that the unnamed female role is WW.
I'm on board with her. We've seen enough not-obvious casting choices work out well in genre movies. Regarding builds, etc., you think Henry Cavill looks like that all the time? She'll work out for the role, and probably end up with one of those volleyball player builds (i.e. a realistic athletic-looking female). Also, she's 5'9...which means that onscreen they'll make her look about 6'1. Hollywood is a magical place where they can make dwarves like Tom Cruise, Robert Downey Jr. and Dustin Hoffman look normal height.
Regarding her looks in general, check out these pics. (Warning -- the first one's a swimsuit pic in case it matters at your workplace.) Personally, I can see Diana in there.

Spoiler:
Carano has a good look for the role, but I just don't think she can act. At all. Jaimie Alexander (Sif) would be a good choice and it was reported that she met with them about the role, but apparently the timing didn't work out.

This. A thousand times this.
For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.
Just because she's slender and not particularly muscular right now, doesn’t mean she won't be that way in the film. Actors often bulk up for roles. Chris Evans put on lots of muscle for Captain America and Will Smith completely transformed when he played Muhammad Ali.
Let's also not forget that 6 months before filming started on Batman Begins Christian Bale looked like this:
Lets at least wait and see what she looks like when they start shooting.
"And if we've learnt anything over the past 1000 mile retreat it's that Russian agriculture is in dire need of mechanisation!"
It’s already been established that it’s going to be Lex Luther hasn’t it? Bryan Cranston’s already been cast.
I think it’s obvious the DC want to do a Justice League film. After the success of The Avengers they would be mad not to. But if I had to guess I think this next film will still be primarily a Superman Film, but Batman and Wonder Woman will be introduced in order to set up a proper JLA movie later on.
To do a proper JLA film they will also need to bring in Flash, Green Arrow and Green Lantern.
