Yep, Endobai confirmed it is a fighter-bomber, and that the 'missiles' are anti-air missiles. I guess that means either it has replaced the Harpy in terms of dropping Spore Mines, or the weapon in its mouth is a torrent flamer of some sort.

That sounds really useful. What would the role of the Harpy even be, compared to that thing?

Not too impressed by the Warriors so far, swords and whips are nice but the price increase is rather steep for a Troops box. The Prime is a sexy addition and looks about as as I have always imagined it (never understood those Tyrant to Prime conversions).
Also, I wonder if Rippers are still included, since no new Tyranid kit had them.

The Harpy will probably be a better anti-infantry specialist. Too early to tell though.

Mixed bag here.
The Haruspex looks a bit odd, though I appreciate that the picture isn't the clearest. I'm not too impressed with the flyers either as they look too plane-like. It's like they've just got a plane and made it look "alive". Be interesting to see the whole model and how poseable it is. I'm hoping it's a FMC too, normal Flyers don't really suit Nids. Finally, the Tyranid Warriors look very similar to the current one, so, atm, I'm not thinking that they'll be worth the inevitable price increase.
On the other hand, the Tyranid Prime and Tyrant Guard look very cool, which is good! Still very excited for the new Codex though!
And yeah, the Crone just screams "Tyranid Helldrake" to me

The following are mail order only.
Zoanthrope
Broodlord
Lictor
Venomthrope
Red Terror
Does this confirm a 2nd wave to make plastic the Zoan/Venom? Perhaps clamshells for the Broodlord and Lictor? What about the prices on those 'gants/'gaunts? That's cheaper than some online retailers. GW for the win?
Thoughts?
Assuming they're true, I think those 20-model boxes will be a limited offer for the release, just like Ghost Warriors etc.
Finecast stuff going direct-only isn't much of a shock. I read this as GW trying to keep a closer eye on these items; running down any product-specific packaging for them, reducing the number of these units in the supply chain, and generally preparing the way for a future plastic kit replacement. I doubt they'll appear any time soon, as there are more pressing plastic kits to be working on for other ranges, but I have no doubt we'll see the following in future Nid releases:
Zoanthrope / Venomthrope / Gavthrope box
Re-done Genestealers with Broodlord/Ymgarl options
Biovore/Pyrovore kit
Lictor/Deathleaper kit/box

That's one of the annoying things about these kits that get a few new options yet shoot up in price; the box still only makes 3 models. Having extra options doesn't change that.

That's true, but we are saving on the Hive Guard/Tyrant Guard. $90 is now $70 or whatever for 3. The online-only gaunts are cheaper, as is the Carnifex brood of 2.
Now we don't have to buy and kit-bash a Trygon and a Flyrant to make the Harpy either. $80 is steep for one box, but it's better than wrecking 2 kits totaling around $107.
The average Armorcast Exocrine was right around $105 on eBay for a while. This plastic variation is much better, and also makes the Haruspex.

Those things are great (although those online deals will go away), but none of those things make Warriors any cheaper, nor do they allow you to build any more than the same 3 Warriors as before. Pricing a kit based on the potential units that can come from a single box isn't a good way to do pricing. It doesn't matter if the box has the capacity for one type of unit or ten types of units - if it can only build one unit out of all its options, it's not worth extra cost beyond material costs. It's why the price increase on the Baneblade was so obscene when they threw in the Shadow Sword sprues. Sure, now the kit can make 8 different variants... but it can still only make one tank, and leave you with tons of bits you don't need. Now don't get me wrong - I like the way we have kits that can build different units. It makes sense in every way (monetarily, shelf space, shipping, stock issues etc.), but when you take a unit that already exists, throw in a new hat, and then charge more for those same creatures it's a bit of a stretch to say that it's reasonable in any way. If the Warriors built Shrikes, different story, but from all accounts they do not.

Or people use magnets and have whatever variation they want, when they want it, for the price of one tank. It's a price of convenience (and not having to buy another tank).
It's not great, but these Warriors will sell like hotcakes and not stop GW from continuing to do it. And again, they cut us breaks in 5 other ways, even if the gaunts prices will change down the road.

Where the news about gaunts being direct-only?
Love the Harpy... I can take the Warrior price increases as we have a bunch already, but I hope they don't ratchet up the other prices - I guess their justification is that the bonesword/lashwhips are now included, as opposed to being a 15 Euro bitz upgrade.
Glad I kept a few sprues of Gargoyles, I can see a Flying Circus on its way. Hope we get some good flyer rules. And personally I"m delighted if there's no Mycetic Spores. as we use 4 there would have been some serious wallet damage.

Yes, Termagaunts are better than Hormaguants. In large part thanks to Tervigons, which can buff the Termagaunts with Poison and Furious charge, in addition to being able to create more Termagaunts. Being able to shoot, and charge with those benefits for cheaper than Hormagaunts is huge. It's the same principal why Shoota boyz are better than regular Boyz. Termagaunts also unlock a T6 Scoring MC, which is also a pretty big deal.
Right now, the mechanics of sixth make shooting superior to close combat. Perhaps Nids will have some special rules to help with this, but we will see.

The Harpy model looks pretty sweet, but I'm iffy about the Haruspex and the Exocrine. Exocrine basically looks like a bigger pyrovore

Could you quit spamming the thread and askling about history? There are about one million threads already where you can find out about termagants, or simply read the existing codex!
Looks like Tervigons get a points hike, I wonder if the rumours about a cut in points for Termagants and Hormagaunts will prove correct.

Where did you see Tervigons got a price hike? The only details we've seen say that you need to take broods of 30 Termagants to make them Troops, not that the Tervigons themselves got more expensive.
They are. Hormagaunts are 5 points per model, Termagants are 4 points per model.

The rumours aren't that definitive, mainly the words "gaunt tax", so you could be right, there could simply be the 30 gant minimum, as opposed to the existing 10.
That in itself could be a great thing, I would love to see even more massive swarms on the table.

That's reassuring. I just hope the upgrades on the Hormagaunts are cheaper, 4 points a model for poison and furious charge is way to much.
Small price decreases like this, really add up quickly. I may have to get even more Termagaunts though, if the spawning rule and 30 brood unlock is true!

Okay, we don't know the rules yet (well except the made up ones by BOLS ).
But still I am concerned about the playability of tyranids in the upcoming Codex:
1.) No Allies. Only faction without allies.
2.) No Inquisition boost.
3.) No manned fortifications. Only faction without manned fortifications.
4.) Hordes crippled by defensive fire.
5.) Only transport rumoured to be deleted
6.) Half the cool characters rumoured to be deleted
7.) Only means to get back troops (via Tervigon) for objectives rumoured to be nerfed big time.
8.) We get a second Tyrannofex, as if 2x S10 is bad. Granted the current model is lazy and can't even stand, but 2 models for basically the same? Looks like one will be nerfed.
9.) Big new close combat moster in a shoot out.
10.) No dedicated anti-air unit known so far.
11.) Genestealers rumoured to stay useless.
12.) No GW Lord of War, while others have it. Only 385$ FW model.
Currently I only see nerfs for an already nerfed army. Even a Helldrake level Crone wouldn't change that. So I don't see how Tyranids will be playable in a competitive way.
