I don't think there are post-heresy fallen. If I am remembering my fluff correctly, the DA changed their armour to dark green after the fall of Caliban (except ravenwing, which when the company was made kept the black armour). So, I think all of the fallen are in jet black armour (unless they altered it after all these millenia).

By the way, Cypher is looking good.

I painted the mini trying to mimic a bit of original theme from GW plus adding a bit of my theme. It is black with green highlight. I find black with grey white edges boring. Templar boring. So I based with black then opened to dark green. And edged with green to bright green. But that's just me.

The only thing I don't like about this model is the sheet of paper hanging off the plasma pistol. It looks a bit too static, given how dynamic the pose is, and it puts too much visual weight at the end of the barrel. A long, flowing purity seal would have worked much better, or just leaving it bare and really selling the detail of the piece itself.

You could always freehand "BANG!" onto the plasma parchment

ETA: Just wanted to add, LOVE the conversion work you've done. The model is beautiful! (although, agree with the purity seal vs. parchment sentiment)

I like the dynamism/movement of the piece, and I'm better it looks better in person than on camera, but it looks like you missed a mold line on the bolt pistol - and that detail just jumps out at me and kills it for me.

Thanks for pointing that Madocyw, I will consider doing somethin for that. As for your comments, thank you all. Unfortunately due to work and lack of time I didn't make a progress on it. I have fateweaver waiting for me on the shelf plus I have bits/plastic DP and scenic base to convert my own Be'lakor. Thanks again! Cheers!
P.S: the sword arrived so I will convert it and finish the whole model. I will hopefully have time after work today to move on!

Ok ok pistol reshaped, I changed it, added eyesight plus an eagle head on the other side. Hope that suits better. I got rid of the static scroll.

Well yes, because he was in the original Dark Angels legion he would have had black armor. However, when Luthor and the other Dark Angels on Caliban turned traitor, some stayed loyal. In order to mark themselves as not being allied to Luthor, they repainted their armor Dark green, that way they can be identified as loyalists. This is the reason post heresy Dark Angels are green, as a tribute to those who stayed loyal to the Lion.

This is one of the reasons Cypher is debated as being a loyalist in the end. His armor is green, like the other loyalists on Caliban at the time of the fall.

So yes, he should be green. And he looks fantastic sir.

In the fluff, only the Dark Angels who sided against Luther changed their armour to be green. Which raises a huge number of questions.

That conversion is fantastic! Incredibly fluid and dynamic (the GW model looks too static for me given how the character is described).

Its great to see him back in the rules as well.

Cypher's dataslate. Now, here I should say that it never flat out states he was one of those loyalists who repainted his armor. However I put two and two together. The part about loyalist repainting their armor is true. The fact that GW has painted him in green since his beginning is true. Seems straight forward to me.

Cool. Thanks. (I think them never flat out saying it is GW's way of adding to the "mystery")

P.S. The model is coming out great.

Shh.. You're just jealous of our.. *Sob* Grey edge highlighting no offence there mate! btw I am a bit worried about painting the face. I painted the robes and now there is small room left for no mistakes. Also I can't decide the colour of the eyes. The original model as I recall does not have that detail. So.. Any help?

According to the fluff from the horus heresy novels, they had green armor to represent those who were born and initiated from caliban. Those in black armor started to get phased out slowly. Those in black armor represent the influence of terra. A large number of caliban warriors were sent back to caliban right before the heresy and didn't know of the rebellion in its early stages. Only once horus's treachery were known to the galaxy did caliban know. Caliban was backwards from the rest of the imperium. Low tech, few natural resources, and the people were not numerous until Johnson rid the world of their monsters.

Also, the Cypher position was from the Order. He was in charge of training recruits and instructing them in the ways of the Order.

Ok, model is finished, it's varnished. I haven't started the sword yet, but I decided to show the model and I will post the model+sword later. Hope you like it. I wanted to give him a more chaos look since I will use him in chaos oriented armies (traitor ig, csm and cd). I would like some comments now that's done. I m not sure about the plasma pistol effect. Be honest about the model and do tell me what you don't like. What I really liked about the model now that it's over is the dynamic pose that it has. He looks so realistic.

The robes are good, the green armour looks better that way. Very nice freehand. Not sure about the plasma pistol. I will elaborate once i see him in person.

You shouldn't be worried about the one bullet with your name on it, Boldric. You should be worried about the ones labelled "to whom it may concern"-from Blackadder goes Forth!
