I know I said id put some pics of AMs onbut I've still not glued them sorry. Was at club on Thursday where I played CSM twice.
First was Fabius with a load of csm with MoK plus 2 drakes, 2 hellbrutes 3 oblits and a forgefiend plus more. Took the win in turn 5 but was close until then. Had to table him as I had no scoring left.
The other was Abaddon 2 vindicators drake etc. Ended up with over half my army pointing at Abaddon to seriously overkill him. Grat game.
Went to local GW store yesterday and got a few games. Battered some orks in 2k but only won by 2 KPs then had a 1500 game using my raven as a Fire Raptor proxy against thousand sons. Didn't get musch chance to use the raptor but the attached pic mde me laugh. A lot of bikes in that terrain. One of the pieces I made btw (pics in gallery)
Will try to finish the AMs this weekend and I will get some pics up of the stormraven magnets Z. Really simple bit need 10mm mags

Lol, it's a good job we ignore DT tests. Otherwise, you'd have lost a few xD
10mm magnets on the SR? hmm, thats a problem for me... i'm only capable of using 2mm magnets I've never tried anything bigger, but it looks like I need some new magnets and a bigger drill bit

Haha, bait and switch, love it.
Pics by Monday morning latest. Promise...
Z, don't need a drill bit. Just a bit of plascard or GS. Basically put 1 mag in the top air intake but lower to the bottom with plascard if GS then another in line on the raven. The strength of the 10mm is enough to hold the wings down too, in effect replacing the glue.... I'll still throw some pics on when I get chance this evening.
Got my capacitor before too so will be fixing the dremel tonight. Automatically Appended Next Post: Here you go. Hope this helps.

How does it look without the air intake on top? I keep batting around ideas on how to modify one to look better, and all the clutter on the top bothers me. I was thinking for when I get around to picking one up that leaving the intake off and replacing the top turret with a lower profile one, say from the razorback, might help improve it’s looks.

That would look ok I think. The only thing would be a little filling and filing where the ridge is and where the wings sit. If you did it though you would have to copy it through any other flyers you have/get as they all have a similar look.
I ran out of superglue last night whilst sticking the AM's to their bases so will get more today for the definite finish and photo time.
Got to say though, that I'm actually quite happy with them now they are on bases. Kind of pulls it all together.
May be some time until I do the smashed window diorama though. Haha Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh, Zambro. The magnets are available on eBay for a couple of pound

As the new title suggests folks, they are done.
These are never winning any competitions but are to a good tabletop standard IMO. I have loved and loathed these models and never will I take on such a big bulk paint again (Zombies??)
Anyway, they have the same dirty feel as the bikes (I hope) and I am really unhappy with the metal pads. I just think you can spot painted metal from a mile away and it never looks as crisp.
All in all though I am happy with them. The bases really help make them look dynamic and whilst they could be neater and better they will only ever feature in apoc games so there will be nicer things to look at.
It's been a long time coming so I expect lots of C&C and as always am open to anything you think.

Look solid enough to me, the posing is nice and dynamic and the painting is gritty but neat. Hope they're worth the effort when they hit the table.

Surely you can work them into smaller lists, just to try them out? Not all of them at once, mind you, but just toss a stick of 5 of them, maybe with a chaplain, as a fun change of pace from the normal all-bikes white scars list.
They do look good though.

Assault Marines look good, the OSL on the jump packs look very done. Death From Above! Though i always picture a failed roll and having a Marine fly off out of control into a wall all Wile E. Coyote Style (mine included). Or maybe that would be just Orks with jump packs??

They look great all lined up
You should defo try them out in regular sized games. I could see them keeping up with the bikes and putting some extra pressure on your enemy

Yeah, I suppose I could do that. There just always seems to be a better option to take but in a friendly game they could see some action.
Waiting for the Fire Raptor to arrive as need that built and painted for Mays tournament. Still doing the base for the Thunderhawk too, although I seem to have fallen out of love with it at the moment.
Next to finish are the Storm Ravens and Preds as they are 80% done then I think I'll probably do the Chaplain and another bike squad.
Then it won't seem like much to do in the big picture. 4 talons, another 4/5 squads plus the 3 Libby's and command squad. The rhinos aren't even bought yet so not fussed about them.
Will almost be sorry to finish it all (months away yet though) but I'll split it with my CSM and may even throw some more paint on my Eldar.
I have a vision to have all my armies built and painted so that I can just buy new small units to add as and when.
Dreams can come true.....

Ah, to hell with 'better options', those models are cool and you've put too much time not to use them.
Besides, throw in a Chaplain and they're pretty good anyway.

Judging from your heretical leanings in other blogs, that’s a good thing. I’ve got three, and use them all. A little faith and moral purity will do you some good.

Hahaha, fair point. I will purchase one and use him with the AM's soon. Tbf the Scars have never been sure whether they are heretical or not themselves....

Just reading Nevelons blog and it made me realise that yes, a whole week has gone by and I have done little to nothing. Tiny bit more on Stormravens and that's about it.
I did ruin my dremel charger by believing I could solder and have therefore ordered a new one
Anywhoo, the Fire Raptor should have arrived in work today (I'm off ill so will pick it up on Monday) and will be taking all precedence and getting built and painted ASAP.
Going to try to finish the storm ravens and preds off this weekend. Only got details to do on them so it's possible.
What have you all been up to this week. I always like to see other peoples work and ideas so feel free to put pictures up on here
See ya soon,
Martin

Looking forward to the Fire Raptor, that model looks great. With that, the ravens and the talons (And the T-Hawk) you have quite the air force.
Don't feel bad about having a non-productive week, for what it's worth I've not touched anything with paint for about a fortnight, and all I've done this last week is start a game of Deadzone that's now been abandoned. I'm hoping to get some stuff done this weekend, though. Maybe some Deathwing if I find the time- layering bone-white from brown takes an age...

Powering through the earns and preds here. Should have them all done (minus weathering) today.
Am not gonna weather any of the models until all are complete then they will at least all have uniformed dust and dirt.
Picked another box of scouts up for my thunderhawk base too. Not sure what I'm gonna do with the Fire Raptor base yet either. Not gonna be as big a base as the TH obviously but may make a bigger base than standard? Thoughts?

Generally you should endeavor to keep the bases the size they are supposed to be. If you have a really cool idea that needs the space, go for it, but it’s not something that should be altered lightly.
I forget if I’ve asked you this, but do you have plans for a display board? Because while you want your bases to look similar to help tie your army together, if you have an idea for how they are going to be placed in relation to each other you can have them interact.
For example, you have a thunderhawk, that when sitting around looking cool on the shelf/board is going to have a fire raptor off one wing and and a stormraven off the other.
All the bases are ruins, matching the urban/rubble of the rest of the army.
The main action is on the T-hawk, where some scouts are involved in a crossfire with some cultists. Maybe bolters, possibly some CC action. But close to the back of the base, there are cultists taking cover, glancing to the sides, maybe pointing. One might even be the victim of a headshot, with blood splattered against the side of a wall, not the back (where it would if he was shot by the scouts on the front of the base)
The reason? Snipers from the wingmen’s bases are providing flanking fire. Just a pair of scouts on each base, tucked into a little corner of ruins. You don’t have the real estate to do something grandiose. But together your three flyers tell a story too big to fit on a single base.
