Nice collection of tanks, birds, and bikes. Zooming right along.

They look sweet grouped up like that.

Nev's idea is pretty cool. I like the idea of the 3 bases linking in together to tell a story. It reminds me of something I saw once; 3 vindicators with the imperial aquilla painted across their 3 shields.

But anyway, how goes the TH?

TH is very much on hold for the moment. I have to build and paint the raptor for tournament so will be concentrating on that. Wanted to get these finished as they were part done in the "to finish" pile.

So, there are 3 more stormseers/librarians 3 more scouts, 6 more rhinos, 4 more talons plus the Fire Raptor and Thunderhawk.

The dev's are magnetised so weapon options can be swapped about and the talons and stormseers just need building. Got yo buy the rhinos (boring to me) and then it is complete.

Looking back at the picture on the first pits it has come on massively and I'm proud of myself even if I do say so.

Thanks for sticking with me this far guys and let's see where we end up, kind of a half way point here...

Yeah, sure is. I've not worked out how much it's cost me and don't think I will hahaha. Bought it all retail too from GW as I believe in supporting my store. Even down to the FW stuff I get. I buy vouchers from the store and spend them in warhammer world so that my store gets the money.

Theres more unbuilt yet, 7 more rhinos, 4 more Storm Talons, 3 more stormseers/librarians, thunderhawk, Fire Raptor, and 3 more scouts.
Then it's done............killing me slowly but when I see them all together it makes me happy............will look great in a cabinet in my new hobby room

It’s best not to dwell on how much cash we spend on this hobby. A while ago there was a thread to price out your 1,500 list and see what it came to. Very sobering. But you could easily spend a squad’s worth of cash out on a friday night with the guys, and have nothing to show for it but fuzzy memories and a hangover.

You going to pick up the new apocalypse warzone that’s on pre-order now? It features the Scars. No idea if there are decent formations in it, but you might actually care about the background and story.

I really grinds my gears when friends brag about how much they spent and dont remember after a night out. And how often they do it. Sure, when I go out I drink just as much, but I dont do it nearly as often as others. And when they complain about their financial problems due to said drinking... I just want to smack them and say grow the up.

Maniak, can you do a write up / summary of this apoc. warzone? If it has significant improvements / additions to the Scars, I may consider getting it

You could paint up some Raven Guard to ally with your White Scars. It would probably just take painting another 50 or so more assault marines...

Impressive collection. I'm pretty sure this is the largest bike army I've come across. It'll look amazing when comlete, and at the speed you paint, that won't be as far away as one might think.

And then you can do the next Company/Brotherhood....

If I did another brotherhood it would be the 1st brotherhood. I like the thought of 100 terminators and landraiders with a chapter master etc (and NO bikes) by that point FW may have released Jaghatti too.

TO be honest though I'll be done with Scars by the time I've finished and will concentrate in a my Nurgle list. May do something different after that or revisit my Dark Eldar etc. Always liked the idea of a huge Ork horde...

1st Co would be very cool, even in part. As DA prove, Termies and bikers is a kick-ass combination.

Yeah, reminds of the brotherhood of the storm book. Bikes do the work and termies finish off the big stuff...

Started to clip the sprues for the raptor and realised that there is actually a full stormraven there. Only need a few pieces of it so there is enough to use for the crashed flyer on my thunderhawk base so that I don't have to waste a Stormtalon.

Mcmaniak.... I think I'll just borrow 10 of your bikes and spray me blue... I don't think you'd notice them missing with that many.

So ive assembled what I must say is the worst fitting FW kit I've ever done.
So many cuts to make and gaps to fill. But now it looks great if I do say so myself.

Layered it up to white level one. Gonna add the magnets etc ad thèn final 2 layers of white.

Not sure where to put the red tail stripe on this to tie in with ravens and talons. Difficult to get the same effect but need to run it through to the Thunderhawk too.

Looks great. Maybe a stripe around the nose / forward section of the hull? Seeing as it's awkward design means you cant do it at the rear.

How bad was the miscasting? I'm a little anxious about getting my Imp. Navy stuff and having to do massive work to make it look right.

Wasn't so much miscast as opposed to badly fitted. Whenever you put resin with plastic there is trouble but this was really bad. The nose where the avenger bolt gun goes was ridiculous. Other bits had to be trimmed or filled. Works ok in the end though.

Thought more about the red and there will be red at the front anyway plus the turret guns on the side are gonna be red so will draw through the wings into the rear fin. I have looked at the thunderhawk and can do a similar thing on that so they will all tie in nicely then.

Magnetising the wings is a lot more tricky than I first thought but I'll figure it out somehow. I've just sent the battlefoam traces off with the wings separate so I'll have to, hahaha.

Sorry for the position of the photos guys.

Up to Second layer white now, only one more to go I reckon. Ball turrets etc are red now so need to do reds on the main raptor once white us fully dry .

I've managed to put the magnets into the wings by doing a 10mm in the main wing and a 3mm in the end strut into the engine. They stay in even when wobbled! Also magnets for swapping out quad heavy bolsters for auto cannons. On that note I've played a couple of games with it now (stormraven as proxy) and think the hb'sare the way forward. Each quad gives you 6 s5 ap4 to shots as opposed to 2 s7 ap4 shots. I know the AC's are more powerful but weight of dice should get at least the same result.

Also ignore the base as this is one of my raven bases. The raptor base is gonna be something special,(will even make Nev proud) and will be revealed in due course.

Next to do is the pilot, turret marines and all the cockpit details whilst the white dries.
