The buyer must not have seen this thread

It illustrates the point, though, for those wondering if it's worth even paying the shipping to get their models. If you don't like them, just sell them on and you should make most of your investment back. Still sucks, but no reason to take a total loss when it's not necessary!

I'd be really wary selling on eBay without disclosing all of the flaws with the kit. With the way eBay sides with buyers over sellers in disputes, reselling these flawed kits could create more of a headache for the seller than desired.

My charity auction sold but I priced the Emperor dragon low and went out of my way to indicate how much work would be required to get the kit up to snuff.

Looking at the write up for the $119 CAD Spider Demon I wouldn't be surprised if that seller gets a request for a return.

You should definitely show detailed pictures and describe the kit as accurately as possible, of course. Honestly, for myself in these situations I often just sell on Dakka for less to avoid the whole hassle (folks were discussing as much last page).

I might be interested in the demons/plague angel if anyone is looking to offload. I have enough experience working with resin I'd be willing to put the time in to pretty them up if the price was right.

I saw they posted on Facebook showing off a painted Spider Demon. The paint job isn't exactly spectacular, but even with the airbrushed paint you can tell that some of the details are pretty soft; especially around the hands and the horns. I commented asking if they will be addressing the fact that the models are so sub-par in the detail department, and how it doesn't come even close to living up to the Kickstarter's promises. I'm not expecting a response, but I'm curious if they'll delete the comment.

Spoiler:

In other news, the latest update says they'd be sending out the last shipping requests "tomorrow morning". I'm still sitting here with no such request. I've checked my spam and everything. Will probably give it until tomorrow before I contact them about it, but it just goes to show they can't keep their promises even a day after they make them. The 20% discount for 6 months to backers is a nice sentiment, but who's actually going to want to give them more money after this miserable experience? I know I won't. I look forward to the barrage of updates.

I still think it would be a cool chaos demon, i wonder if there are people who want to get rid off it.

They were suppose to put prices up on the website for general customers by the end of the day, nothing so far. If they can't even do that what chance have they got of getting all the orders shipped

I have a plague angel on the way, which I'm not sure I have a use for any longer. So I might be able come to an agreement with you.

Well, I might be but some board game minis are really nice these days

I'm not saying they didn't promise better, but the results (at least on the Tree creature) are still worth keeping! I'm seeing posts like they're worthless... and that's just going too far from what I can see (not counting the terrible mold slip someone posted above - that should result in a complete replacement, imo).

The treewoman is worth keeping, as opposed to some of the awful pics of the spider demon bits I have seen, but she also isn't worth 50$+ whatever shipping was. The quality is somewhere between Bones and... bad board game bits? Certainly not Blood Rage quality board game parts, and really I would expect a Bones version of the treewoman to look better based on the large models I have. Plus be a LOT sturdier; I am pretty nervous about what is going to happen to those fingers and back branches the first time I drop her, and you know that is coming

She's an alright model, and if I had picked her up 15-20 years ago I would say she is very nice. Now, I can't help but think that the quality/price/functionality trade off is way on the unfavorable side. After 5 years or so I am deeply ambivalent about the money, but I had really high hopes for the model that didn't really pan out. I expected an 8" resin model would be highly detailed with lots of little interesting bits and details going on, even if it is a tree and so not sporting clothing or keepsakes as such. As it stands, many of the <2" models I have could be scaled up to 8" and still be more finely detailed. It is really a missed opportunity, and if putting the money towards her and prevented me from putting 50$ towards some other cool treewoman (or dragon, or demon, whatever) I would be pretty unhappy. My buying disease is fortunately not so limited by cash flow (Though damn, do you remember my feelings about my Relic Knights KS? eBaying that probably saved me a lot of acid reflux damage in the long run.)

'Murica! (again)

still trying to decide if paying $20 for the treewoman is worth making her into terrain or a display board. My gut tells me people know of this (and plenty other) KS debacles so trying to sell for even half of paid is hard on eBay. Robotech, anyone? So I'd need to ensure she sells for at least $40 on ebay to make it worth while, more so for shipping and paypal cost, so $50. Gonna happen? probably not. Someone hoping to take advantage? absolutely, such is the nature of eBay and resale lot.

There's currently one Warrior Demon showing up on my eBay search, sadly it has bids on it when the seller has zero feedback and signed up on the weekend just gone.

I hope that's not being funneled through a burner account and it's just a coincidence...

I see Creature Caster have put painted examples of their models on Cool mini or not, here:

http://www.coolminiornot.com/408811

and here:

Seeing how they've deleted genuine criticism from their Facebook page, if anyone wants to leave a comment warning the gaming & figure painting community about their experiences with CC it may be a good idea. I intend to let people know about the experience I had with regards to the one figure I have experience of.

The eye of terror

Past the deadline for my shipping request and nothing, I've dropped them an email but did they really have to make another promise they couldn't keep that they didn't have to make in the first place.

Finally got my shipping request after emailing them. $25CAD for 4 models isn't too bad, but still annoying considering the free shipping at retail.

Well...I sent a second E-mail to Creature Caster using a different address (they must have updated the Customer Service one). Here was the response:

"Hi Christopher,

I will send out a new Spider Demon and jackalope on Monday. Sorry that you received parts that shouldn't of made it past our quality control check.

Thanks,

Joseph."

So, I'm not going to complain about the customer service side of things. I still feel slightly let down by the Tree Walker in terms of the crispness but there's not actually any mould slippage or issues. I think the Tree Walker may simply be what it is, now. If anyone wants to see the quality of mine, you only need look at their website to the "pre-assembly" pictures and mine matches up almost identically.

My Pincer Demon turned up today, first impressions are surprisingly positive! Maybe that's because my expectations at this point were so low?

First up, it's absolutely covered in mold release grease. I've handled god knows how many resin models in my time, but nothing has come close to this. I can well imagine that excess use of this has obscured some of the detail sharpness, as highlighted by Wehrkind earlier.

After a cursory glance the detail sharpness looks okay, not amazing of course but okay. There are some areas where it is a bit soft (the neck/shoulder area, the weapon), but overall not bad.

The detail on the faces looks reasonably good, by far the most impressive part of the model. I don't think that it's a coincidence that these are the parts of the model with the least grease on them, they look almost matte in comparison to the gloss look of the rest of the model.

It's sitting in a tub of washing up liquid and warm water at the moment, I'm hoping that once the grease is washed off the detail on the whole thing may look a little sharper.

Either way, I'd already written this one off, but now I'm almost excited to paint it

I just recieved my Pincer Demon as well. My experience is similar to yours. WAY too much mold release left on these parts. I may need to soak this in Alcohol to cut it. The detail is surprisingly good with only a bit of flash and mold lines to deal with. A couple spots where the detail is a bit smooth, but not too bad.

Overall, I am happy with the model and I'm sure I'll get some use out of it. Will I ever do business with Creature Caster again? Not on your life!

Forgive me if I'm teaching you to suck eggs, but be lairy of alcohol and resin, it can do all sorts of odd things to resin.

got my plague angel. some mold slippage but nothing to get in a snit about. one bubble i've found, again, not a big deal. detail is pretty good, doesn't seem to have a boatload of mold release like some folks have seen, so no issues there.

however, right arm is missing and i have two left arms. kind of a big deal there. have emailed customer service, haven't heard back from them yet.

edit: just got a response that a replacement arm is on the way. less than 24 hours response time for the email.

...hopefully it won't be two years for the arm to arrive...
