When uploading to the gallery, there is an option under each individual image to check 'Created by me'. I've never noticed it before, and as such my hundreds of images say 'create by Unknown'. There are a LOT of images like this in the gallery, because nobody notices it until their image appears on the frontpage with 'Created by Unknown' written on it.

Instead of selecting this for every image, can the 'Created by me' checkbox be applied to a whole ten-image upload, or be applied to a whole gallery - just like the 'Disable Voting' checkbox currently is?

I often ignore this when uploading a batrep as clicking every image would take forever.

A gallery check all would be great!
People can always dispute individual photos later..

It's not hugely common for people to need this - I can do it direct in the database for all the images you've uploaded if it is a problem though.

That would be great, if possible, Lego. I'll go through and uncheck the very few that AREN'T mine.

I know not a lot of people ask for this, but I think a lot of people aren't aware of it - on the Dakka frontpage at the moment, there are 17 images. 8 of them are apparently by an 'unknown creator'.

Maybe just defaulting the checkbox to 'on' would be simpler?

Yeah, I do find it to be a little annoying to have to check every image I upload to this, so a button at the top of the page to check all as "created by me" would be nice. Changing the default option however to this could cause problems though, as like you said, not many people even notice the option, so it may be better to not have people accidentally saying they own other's stuff than not saying what they upload is there's.

Or default to 'Uploaded by X' automatically so it at least gets the OPs name out there,

with an option to remove it or change to 'Created by X'

I very much agree. Defaulting the checkbox to 'on' like Arbitorlan says seems like the simplest fix.

Simplest fix yes, but it could/will cause lots more problems down for Dakka the track when people don't uncheck it and complaints about stolen pictures start pouring in.

That's the point. I sometimes upload images created by other people, which is completely legitimate if they are used for "fair use" and are credited.

I agree with you. As long as the image is duly credited to a person (where known of course) then everything is hunkydory. The problem comes with the auto-checked "owned by me" button/s that you have to uncheck. People aren't going to remember/care to uncheck them and there will end up with a gak ton of images wrongly "owned".

Or individually select.
* unknown
* someone else's

But something has to be selected in order to upload.

I, too, would really appreciate the option for a 'select all' system in this regard. When I upload photos, it's usually as an album at a time, so it is something I would use quite frequently.

Seems that a better fix is needed than just hopping in the DB as there is demand for it.

We used to default to all owned by uploader, but as you've mentioned, people just ignored it and we ended up with some irate master painters who had their work claimed as someone elses. 'Uploaded by' and 'Created by' are two separate items in the DB for each image, though 'uploaded by' is hidden if 'created by' is present.

A button to claim all images in a sub-gallery as your own, as well as an easy way to set all images as owned by you when uploading in batches both seem necessary and I'll add them to the to-do list.
