Let's be fair, insanity is the only viable way of dealing with the soul-crushing existence that is being part of the Commissariat... Our very existence, obscene in itself. You take a child who has lost everything, everyone, and you hollow them out, fill them with fire, and send them to a duty where they will be reviled and feared by near everyone in their company. You forge that raw tragedy into a living weapon. Where even a combat servitor has thought removed and weapons added, at the core, commissars are still human. And to me in many ways, that's worse. The terrible juxtaposition of knowing exactly how much pain you're causing to others, and being entirely unable to stop. To be a sociopath would be a reprieve in comparison.

I suppose achieving the Crux Mechanicus like a combat servitor is a desirable goal. My conciousness inhabits my body, but my body is metal and polymer. The Chola Progenium fills a body of flesh with a mind of metal.

OOC:I haven't read that fluff in particular (I'm not a big fan of BL), but I'm talking about how (in the first big imperial assault IIRC) the tau had defeated the imperium's momentom, and driven them back to the point where the tau could have encircled them and crushed them easily, and instead decided to open peace negotiations.
