Yeah I agree, I haven't seen anything in terms of rules rumors for them so far. If they don't update their rules and give them some actually interesting options then really they shouldn't bother making a new book. So far Dwarfs have remained nearly unchanged since 6th ed Fantasy as far as I have seen.

Um, of course they haven't changed since 6th edition. The current army book is a 6th edition army book.

They quite literally have been unchanged since 6th edition Fantasy, since the current book was released before 7th edition dropped. Well, aside from the castration that happened with the 8th edition FAQs.

I'll admit to only skimming the 8th ed FAQ, but which bit castrated the Dwarf army?

Sorry, I'm totally off on my edition count. They were my first army in 96, which was the blue book with Thorgrim on the cover, I believe that was the 4th edition (Box set has terrible looking Orcs and High Elves in it), shortly followed by the edition with Bretonians and Lizardmen. The Bret book totally destroyed all of their playability, and I haven't really seen much difference between that old book and the "current" 6th one in that case.

Just parts of it, but the flame cannon was made essentially non-functional, and there's parts of the gyrocopter that don't really work.

Copying from my post in that other thread that popped up:
I'm looking at that slayer character and all I can think is that somewhere in Nottingham some upper middle management guy who knows nothing about model design is constantly telling the sculptors that they have to make it "more dynamic" because that is one of only two buzzwords he knows.
Seriously, the assassin from the DE release had the exact same problem.

The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that. |

I actually quite like the Slayer model though it'd be even more awesome if they had Gotrek Gurnisson with his awesome axe of Grimnir. The Hammerers are a bit meh.

I like the Hammerers, much better than most of the current dwarf "massive beards with feet" models.

Quite like those Hammerers, the armour looks really nice. Can't really comment on the faces as it's difficult to get an exact look though with a photo taken by a camera phone, of a bent page (with the magazine spread over a loo-seat I'm guessing? ) Also, good to see a dwarf that isn't a beard with legs.
I'm honestly surprised the slayer didn't have a third axe clenched between his buttocks!
Or a little dwarf doll attached to this belt, who in turn is holding 2 axes

Slayer is ridiculous looking. "lets have him launching sideways off of a dragon statue."
Hammerers seem nice enough so far though. They look a little tall to me though. That could just be lack of frame of reference though.

Wow! Can't say I'm at all impressed by these first two showings.
The slayer looks like a cabbage patch kid about to throw down a massive hug on someone!
And these hammers look fine, but they're bland. Where's that frumpiness, or hefting of oversized weaponry? Where's that horribly ticked off (grudged off) expression? These guys look like the couldn't care less about anything.
I really hope the rest of the line is able to pull off more of that 'citadel dwarf look', otherwise I'll just be content to not purchase any of these new models.

That slayer looks like he's being pushed over and is falling backwards, the axes don't help the pose either. And come on, whose brilliant idea was it to end his beard with another to axes! What's he going to do, slap the troll to death with his beard?!?

I hope they reboot the standard dwarves, cannons and gunners/crossbows the last kits were pants.
I've been waiting for this book for years and have a huge pile off metal dwarves that needs some nice supporting units.
