I have to admit - I love almost all the new Dwarf releases.

But, that Gyrobomber?

It really looks 'out of place' in terms of GW's fantasy setting in general, and Dwarves in particular...

It looks like a flying pufferfish...

Doesn't this edition of WFB kind of suck?

Doesn't it?!?

Honestly I could see using these in KoW if I'm not playing fantasy with them. WFB does suck right now but those models are sexy as hell. I'll just have to magnetize their tiny feet for appropriate stands

See I'm thinking:

Gyrobomber + Bob Olley Kickstarter Scrunts = Mad IG Squat Auxiliary Valkyrie/ Vendetta counts as.

It really doesn't. There are only 2 things that could be seen as bad design - Squad Wiping Spells and Steadfast. One was designed to counter the other (at the cost of punishing everything else)

Oh, and super accurate cannons. Not many factions have them though, so it's not that bad.

You can never beat your first time. The second generation is shinier, stronger, faster and superior in every regard save one, and it's an unfair criticism to level, but it simply can't be as original. - Andy Chambers, on the evolution of Games Workshop games

Oh my word! This release just gets better, I can't believe how fething cool that flying contraption looks! This is shaping up to be my favourite fantasy release in a long while.

I'm trying to imagine what a Dwarf army facing off against Skaven one, with all of the crazy contraptions, would look like? AMAZING, probably!

I feel smug no more for jumping on the Titan Forge kickstarter, maybe I should have waited...

Squad wiping spells are fairly well mitigated by MSUs. Steadfast>MSUs>Spells>Steadfast. It's the most expensive version of Rock/Paper/Scissors out there.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Nah, I like Titan Forge's stuff . GW is doing well here, but nowhere near enough for me to regret supporting that great company.

Let me guess, the bomber is gonna be like 150 pts or something crazy which makes it unplayable. Not like the rest of the dwarf army is usable anyway with high cost models + no way to break steadfast, we'll see if GW understands what the core problem of dwarves was..

Looks like they are going to a WoW vibe these days. Kind of a shame, as I was hoping they'd go for more of a Warhammer Online type vibe.

Guess it is good for newcomers as they could look at pictures and figure out who the good guy is and who the bad guy is.

Actually, since they apparently get flame throwers now, they may indeed have an anti-steadfast counter.
We still don't know what other types of artillery they have, and they still have stone throwers and cannons.

Dwarves always had flame throwers but since they are move or fire they were effectiveness useless.

The edition is 4 years old, so who cares as it will possibly be replaced this summer.

So the rules for the new releases will go both into the White Dwarf and into new army book (obviously)?

I'm really digging these new models. I think the gyrobomber/copter fits in the setting when you look at things like the steam tank. Very Final Fantasy 9. Any word on the author? I'm interested to see if there will be any changes to their dispell magic phase or if combat units will become more viable. I love them in the game setting but their gunline play style got really stale. That could just be my local players not changing it up ever though.

Fantasy: Tomb Kings, Dark Elves, Wood Elves, Lizardmen, Daemons
40k: Daemon Hunters (GK,MT allied), Tallarn Armored Battle Group, Night Lords.
Firestorm Armada/Firestorm Planetfall: Dindrenzi

The steamtank is blocky and made of plates, with the look of something Leonardo could have invented.
The new gyrocopter's look resembles the 30s or 40s with its organic round forms. Since when do Dwarfs use organic round forms?

I mean more so as an absurd piece of technology rather than aesthetic.

God, that Gyro is awful. Really don't like it, doesn't fit with fantasy at all.

It's good though, it helps me resist the urge to add more to my Dwarf army.

I am just happy that the rune system is staying, sounds like it may have received a boost also.

Yes - the new gyrocopter really has a 1940s/Futurama vibe to it.

I'm not liking the look of it - but I think it'd look better if you attach the tail part (of the bomber) but leave off the bombs and the second propeller. Would make it look more copter-ish.
