Bases are usually the best way to find the scale of the model. At least that's what I was led to believe.

I was hoping it'd be WK size at least. Oh well.

It fits with the standard Eldar/Imperium dynamic. The Eldar are usually taller, whereas the Imperials have a lot more mass.

My only problem with that is that the Imperial Knight is supposed to be a 370pt superheavy walker with 6 hull points and 13/12/12 armour. It just doesn't look big enough to live up to it's stats.

It also doesnt justify the additional price cost over the Wraithknight

oh wait, it does as you get - as usual - flooded with a bucketload of extra gak to build different variants, which is not the case with the wraithknight.

one one other varient, Arun, from what i've seen.

Also, seeing it in person, the wraithknight is a head taller than the knight.

but hey, it's armor thickness that matters.

Why is the kit so expensive, though? It costs more than a WK for a smaller model.

It's shorter, you probably get more plastic though.

That and it costs 50% more points. GW likes to (loosely) link price to points as well at times.

It's ok at best. I agree with others in that it looks awkward and way too top heavy. I'll stick with my leviathan as it looks more dynamic than the knight in my opinion.

Rules-wise, I think we were all hoping for them to be a Monstrous Creature to be an Imperial match for Wraithknights and Riptides. Instead, we got a superheavy with a Strength D close combat weapon that means many people automatically will not want to play against it.

In fact, this is the problem. We won't allow it (and all other superheavies and D weapons) in our RTTs.

I do wonder if we'll get 7th ed rules which will include S:d and superheavies in the main rulebook. Or maybe if the rumours of a knight codex are true, the rules will be included in there. It seems to me GW are trying to push people in to superheavies, and they can go a long way to doing that by making them part of the core rules and having a codex that revolves around them (since then you'll have to house rule that you can't use a certain codex and you can't use core rules).

Also, really, the Strength D weapon isn't mind blowing. If it didn't have it, it'd be pretty easy to bring down in close combat. With only 3 attacks it's not going to be winning any wars with it.

I was pleasantly surprised with this model. i really like it.
My only complaint is for the chainsword though..
Am i the only one that finds the blade a bit shorter than it should be?

I think the blade length is ok, but it would look better if it were on a longer arm that has an actual elbow joint.

The GWS website says they're 8" tall which makes no sense considering the Wraith Knight is about 8.5" tall (to the tip of its back spine things).

You're looking at it wrong.

The chainsword is the forearm, not the hand. This is a much better design for something this large - joints are structural weak points, and it's not like knight-scale combat involves a lot of parry/riposte.

This model is fantastic. When I compare it to the other large kits of late, this was, by far IMO, looks much better.

Additionally, I've found the GW kits over the past year or two to have fantastic fit/finish. The Wraithknight/Riptide/Helldrake models all fit together beautifully; not sure when GW went to CAD, but the exactness of their model fit is great. I just recently assembled old Tau suits and they fit horribly compared to the Riptide.

Is it worth the money? For me, yes. But, this is also my main hobby which is what I use disposable income towards. If I were back in college and living off a very limited income, my outlook on the price would likely be different.

Unfortunately, GW has not listed the entire rules in the White Dwarf, so we are left wondering how to play with these. A lot of questions right now. If I were a betting man, I think we will get a Codex and it will tell us to look at Escalation for the specific rules to run a superheavy. Then, I will sit back and have fun watching folks debate if the codex is legal, how to ban it etc... Getting my popcorn ready.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

I can't wait to play KnightFall. Assault Space Marines (w/ meltabombs to represent rodeo) as Pilots, Scouts as Grunts and Necron Warriors as Specters. KnightFall in 5 turns - Scout and Warrior kills decrease this by 1 per kill, Assault Space Marine kills worth 2 turns. "Kill" a Necron Warrior in cc as an Assault Space Marine to reprogram it.

Oh yeah baby, prepare for KnightFall !

We don't have the complete rules, so it's not something I can even debate RAW, RAI or anything else.

Yes, we are told that an army may ally three knights, we are given no other restrictions.
