I don't think this has been posted yet, but there is now a full trailer for the new Transformers movie. I'm still a little leery, but there are parts that make me like it much more then the short Superbowl spot trailer. Interesting how they have advanced the story line 4 years, and now the world wants the Autobots around even less after Transformers 3. Still not convinced about Dinobots, but I'm surprised it has Kelsey Grammer.

My mom saw the new one last night, she thought it looked great.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I really want the movie to be good, especially since Grimlock is in it....but I know I'll be disappointed. I doubt I'll see this in theaters.

According to the crew working on it, Chicago is the new 9/11 in universe and the Autobots bear part of the blame for it happening.

I'm really conflicted about this.

The trailer itself looks like it's going to be a microcosm of how the movie plays out: the first third is pretty awesome, and then suddenly it descends into mindless action, lots of explosions, and a generally nonsensical plot, because that that is appealing to the Chinese filmgoer - which is why Shanghai is the new New York, theatrically.

Marky Mark is, at best, an unreliable leading man.

He has some inarguable great performances: The Fighter, Three Kings, Boogie Nights. But then you have stuff like The Happening.

On the other hand - Grimlock, man.

Yep, looks awesome. Hopefully, it's more Dark of the Moon than Revenge of the Fallen. At any rate, Whalberg seems far better as the lead than Lebouf .Interesting twist with the Chicago incident turning humanity against the transformers.

Looking forward to this.

Haven't the whole "humans don't like autobots who will still protect them" shtick been going since, well the first movie and every movie after?

Its a little old.

Sort of. I was more referring to the idea that Transformers are now 'common knowledge' and seem to be an 'enemy of the people' rather than a TOP SECRET alien threat.

Michael Bay man. Nuff said.

I will take Wahlberg over LeDouche any day of the week.

This is probably the one that will finally make me break down and show the animated movie to my son. When Prime dies, we will weep manly tears together, and drown our sorrow in milk and cookies. But we will at least get to revel in the courage of a robotic dinosaur that faces a problem as large as the moon by kicking it in the butt.

At least the eye candy is the main character's daughter that he is trying to save, rather than attempting to believe a story about a schmuck getting the hot girl (though Megan Fox is debatable as "hot").

Mark Walberg only worries me because of things like Max Payne, and the cop movie with Will Farrell. Ugh.

Supposedly the bad guy for this movie is Galvatron. Evidently Michael Bay doesn't have the guts for Unicron, which had been a bet between my buddy and I about Dark of the Moon. I bet him back when only hints about Dark of the Moon were out that Michael Bay could manage to outdo himself by having the entire moon transform into Unicron. Damn, lost the bet.

LoL, that would not be unprecedented. Transformers Prime used the Earth itself as Unicron. Though I do wonder how they'll get around the resurrection process without Unicron. Even the allspark didn't alter Megatron's form when raising him from the dead in the Bay movieverse.

Kind of hated the way they had offed Star Scream in the last film, that and the Megatron and Prime fight lasting all of 3 seconds.

I'd like to see Star Scream resurrected as something new, if Megatron is back as Galvatron

I'm just more interested in how the transformation will take place. I loved it in the original 1986 film, but how will the remains of the defeated Decepticons get into space?

I believe they're going the IDW route of Galvatron being a new character rather than a reformatted Megatron.

Even Prime stayed away from Megatron turning into Galvatron, instead making him Unitron/Megacron(canonically Unicron Megatron).

Considering that 2013 and 2014 so far have been IDW lovefests from Hasbro, I doubt you'll see a Galvatron who was originally Megatron for a long time. In fact, we haven't seen one in fiction since the Unicron trilogy.

Regarding Unicron, I was discussing this with friends earlier and the best theory we came up with is that, assuming this is essentially a second 'trilogy', they're saving him for the last one, basically for the reason that it's practically impossible to one-up a transforming planet. The first 3 films have shown how there's a trend of 'must go bigger', so I doubt we'll see Unicron in this but I bet we will in later ones.

I do hope Galvatron is a revived Megatron.

Looks fairly dire imo, more of the same old film by numbers crap.

I wonder how he'll butcher poor old Grimlock.

I doubt this is the start of a second "trilogy". I think this more of a "make them until Hasbro doesn't want to pay for them anymore" kind of thing, especially since Bay didn't actually want to make any more initially.

Unless Hasbro says to put Unicron in, there will never be a movieverse Unicron beyond the comics he's already appeared in. Bay hates Unicron as an idea, even more than he dislikes the Fallen(another character he was pretty much forced to use).

Also, there's been a bunch of speculation that the Dinobots or new Decepticons are human made thanks to quotes from Li Bin Bin about there being human made Transformers in AoE. There's also talk of there being ancient and powerful Transformers already on Earth, so one of these two groups predate the modern teams.

Three lousy movies now (ranging from merely 'bad' to 'the world is a worse place because of this movie') have been put out. The fourth will be lousy and you all know it. Perhaps it will be slightly less lousy, but come on.

This is absolutely true. But with the millions of dollars going into it, they should probably strive for something more than 'so bad it's good' don't you think? Because, let's be honest, the movies are NOT 'so bad it's good', they as a group are 'so bad it hurts'.

I'll just disagree. They're fun, mindless films just like watching the original cartoon.

The G1 cartoon already had plenty of that.

May I remind you of the Middle Eastern country of Carbombya, the members of which were such stereotypical caricatures of Middle Easterners that it killed Teletraan I?

This happened, people. No amount of nostalgia can change that.

Look, I own, watch, and love every single season of G1(even the Japanese ones), that doesn't change that story, animation, and writing wise(bar the 1986 film), they're as objectively terrible as the live action films.

Then again, I also don't mind that Kiss Players exists, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I'm not defending the old show. It was the start of extended commercials as entertainment, more or less. The only reason these movies get made is to milk that nonsense nostalgia market, a trend that I hope dies a fiery death. And the presence of its racism doesn't somehow forgive or lessen what happens in the movies, ya know.
