Thanks all.
Well Bebop, on the issue of the neck and back... I have sciatica problems now. So sitting still for hours on end is not possible. (without opioids anyway, and I'm not going down that road. It's a one way street.)
No real painting progress. I was waiting on a supply drop. My ancient #1 Red Sable brush finally gave its last. Yes, it was called red sable back then. It was an old photo retouching brush, of all things, but was so 'just right' for minis too.
So, got a W&N #1 to go with my W&N #0. For good measure, since I have found a larger brush to be a good thing for a lot of blending work and such, and I was curious about the brand, I got a Raphael 8404 #2. I was using synthetics for the larger sizes before, but y'all know what those are like :|
Going to break 'em tonight.

Good show Ol' chap.
I suppose one advantage of metal is that when something is bent, it's easily straightened... hint hint.

The antenna or the sword? Leaving the sword bent until I paint it. It overhangs the base by a significant amout and if I straighten it now, it'll will get bent again :| I knocked the mini over right before photographing it. Just left the antenna bent. Like you say, it's easily straightened.
Maybe a bit more progress tonight. Strange days here in our Nation's Capital.
Automatically Appended Next Post:
Maybe 65%-70% done? And Antenna straightened. Thanks for pointing that out Doc. (a heads up is always welcome, just in case I had not seen it.)

Will touch up the coat when all else is finished. This mini has parts sticking in all directions.
I expect to finish it tonight.

Graven, it is indeed a creepy mini. ANd strangely spiky
Ruglud, sort of an Iron Man. The Janissary was a better one.
So close to done-- 90% ?
Need to do the hands and weapons, and that silly spiny backpack. And touch up the areas where paint rubbed off because this mini does not fit nicely on a 25mm base at all. Should finish tonight, barring any unpleasant RL surprise. That means only one more to go from this set.
Thanks for stopping by.

I was looking at the sword at the time, but counts for anything bent. Makes sense, it is one of those things that are best fixed later. But also easily forgotten.
Nice work.

Well Doc, I got a reminder on another forum too.
Thanks Cam and Jehan. I have to say I am glad to finish this one. So much spikiness.

I went with the studio coloration for the sword. Just to see. I think the tip needs a bit more work. Maybe later.
Next up the Zuyong. A more interesting mini than this one, IMHO.

One thing you can be sure of when posting on the internet, people will point out things.
Hopefully they do this in a polite and constructive manner and not in a sarcastic jibe like "at least in metal you can straighten bent parts". But you can't have it all your way.
Great job. I like the sword colour.

Yah, everyone on the internet has an opinion. And so many of those opinions are utterly unpolluted by facts. Amazing, isn't it? (I'm not referring to anyone in this thread. Just to be clear.)
Sword was a fun paint because of the weird coloration. The colors are supposed to represent different types of weapon-- explosive, armor piercing etc. On the studio paint jobs anyway.
Early, early work on the Zuyong, the final mini in the set. Yay!
It has even more orange than the previous two.
I'll do a family shot of all of them when this is done.

Ah. Well, I seem to have accumulated a lot of minis that need paint. So it may be a while before I get back to terrain work. I do have the Table of Shame to clear. I only finished 3 pieces from it last year.
I'll clear something from it this year, maybe in March?
However, I've noticed that I forgot to post these photos of a tower, a tower which I made years ago (like 15 years ago) So, new to you you guys, right?

I was looking for terrain to use for Frostgrave, just in case my group gets around to playing it anytime soon (Lots of RL distractions this past year. ), and found the photos. Never did figure out how to make the interiors playable on towers.
Maybe 50% done

Thanks Guys.
Y'know Ruglud, for me and countless other Baltimore Oriole fans, Cal Ripken Jr. is Ironman. (and yes, at the stadium one could hear Ironman from Black Sabbath when Cal came to bat...) Hard to believe he broke the consecutive game streak over 20 years ago. Seems like yesterday.
Oh, Everyone did note the Mordheim bits on the tower. Nice little terrain details included in that box, BITD.
Finished the Zuyong. Still have no clue what the name means. Don't really care either. May the devil take the color orange. Ugh.

And the family shot
Ninja is the coolest mini in the set. I think maybe the Tiger Soldier is next. No matter, all painted. It feels nice to be finished with the set.
I think I need to cleanse my palette (pun intended) after all that Orange. Maybe a paint a goblin, or something from the Table of Shame. Or Both.
Thanks for stopping by.

Thanks Guys. Well Cleatus, I opted for a quick paint job on a D&D Goblin archer mini. It is a terrible mini, but now, at least, it is painted. It is from the same set as the goblin knife fighters and the bugbear berserker shown earlier in this thread. The set also has a weirdly muscular troll, and a cool barbed devil ( Which will be painted purple. because I can.)
And that makes 5 for the month
Cam, the Heavy Infantry minis are huge compared to the others. Which is fine by me. Powered Armor guys should be noticeably larger than light infantry guys. The one with the sword really belongs on a 40mm base, IMHO. That sword hangs a good 10mm off a 25mm base. I'm tempted to make a 40mm cozy for the thing, just to protect the sword and the flowing coat.
See how well it fits? ANd the more I look at this photo, the more convinced I am that I need to do it.
Ruglud, very sturdy. They are balanced fairly well, and they don't have spindly ankles. In the case of the Tiger Soldier, the sculptor added a tactical rock under the foot for support/balance, so there is plenty of flat surface contact with the base. Now, the Zuyong-- most recently painted-- is heavy and leaning significantly forward. It's a bit front heavy.
In the backdrop, the screens are from images I found attributed to the Prometheus movie. The floor is from a Star Wars Miniature Game papercraft set. Cam passed the files to me a few years ago. ( Thanks again, Cam ) I have 219 minis to paint. When they are done, maybe I get some new ones. A friend has that box Star Wars assault. It has the AT- AT in it?

Nice work, the Goblin looks great, I know the sculpt is not up there with todays standards but it still has character. I agree completely on the base size. Latest looks nice, brilliant work as always.
Sorry and I do not want to cause any offence here, but I look at some of these infinity models and think they would make brilliant 40k assassins. No idea how they compare, and not even sure if assassins are still a thing, the latest model is a perfect example.
