Thanks. I'm having fun with these. Such vibrant color. Me gustan.

Final Zhanshi

♫♫...Oh baby, just you shut your mouth...♫♫

Somebody has to get that reference.

Obligatory close-up. This one had better hair than the other two. I guess hair is a bit harder to digitally sculpt than it looks.

And a family shot.

This finishes the Zhanshi. I think I am going to count number 3 as finished in December, since most of it was.

Next up, the rest of the Yu Jing box.

Thanks for stopping by.

Thanks guys.

Hey Shas, I did bring up the female morat unmasked over on the Official Forum. Maybe someone from CB saw it. I linked to that artist's deviant art account too.

Next up the Ninja! Early WIP. Staying with the Green and Orange.

Although much less orange.

Thanks for stopping by.

Cool! Hopefully they will attempt making good looking maskless lady morats! Or at least as some models, alternate heads with/without masks.

She is so green, you made the Infinity version of Green Arrow!

I had to look up Green Arrow. I was just using the same colors as I used for the Zhanshi.

Some more orange.

Heck, I might finish this one by Friday.

Thanks guys. This mini has been fun to paint. All the Yu Jing minis have been so far. So that was nice bonus from Red Veil.

Bebop, bases are a bit less distracting?

Here's some WIPs of the Ninja at 90% or so.

Shes looking really nice, the greens are very striking with the small splashes of orange.

Thanks GiraffeX. The original Ninja minis had that sort of yellow-green on them, so I figured I'd use it on this one instead of goinf with the studio color scheme.

Done.

A fun mini to paint. First finished for the year. next up will be the Tiger Soldier mini. It too is standing on just one leg.

Thanks Cam. Yep, my own style, more or less. Something all my art teachers (3 really) over the years told all the students to develop. They were not talking about painting miniatures though.

Thanks Grimdork, and here's what's next. Early, early WIP of the Tiger Soldier

It may be the 2nd most interesting mini in the Yu Jing box.

Whatever the canvas, it's all painting.

Great job on the triplet of girly soldiers and the ninja.

Indeed it is, Doc. One of the girly soldiers isn't, BTW. The absence of 'combat heels' is the clue.

Another WIP of the Tiger Soldier. Maybe 60% done?

I will finish it this week-end. Then only 2 more Yu Jing minis to go ( apart from the Civvie-- that was the one with the wee chibi pig. I got the mini for the pig, and to have another civvie mini, but mostly for the pig.)

Thanks for stopping by.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away...

I feel like I should like Infinity figures more, but I'm struggling to get them - maybe it's the Manga styling? I do very much like your painting style though, fits perfectly (or so I feel)

^ This. Red, your painting is stunning, despite my dislike of the aesthetic. I far prefer your take to the studio jobs.

No worries, Doc.

Thanks Shas.

Well Ruglud, Graven, it's all a matter of taste. There are a fair few Infinity figs that I dislike too. I don't mind a little manga/anime influence. I've come to like it actually. What matters is that (a) I enjoy painting these and (b) I do a good job painting them. And (a) is really more important than (b)

The studio paint jobs are outstanding, technically, but... the painter ( Angel Giraldez) starts with black primer, which is a good way to kill any brightness a color might have, IMHO. He's still a way better painter than I am. I can't paint black anymore, really. I have the presbyopia and trying to paint dark is just an exercise in frustration. You'll note there is very little or no black paint on anything I've done recently. A darkish gray is as dark as I go (and when next to straight white or other light colors, will look darker than it really is.) Plus, I've always had a preference for bright colors over muted ones.

Tyger Tyger, burning bright,
In the forests of the night;
What immortal hand or eye,
Could frame thy fearful symmetry

Never liked the poem. At. All. But it seems a bit better than saying "it's greeeeaaaat!"

Tiger Hacker painted, and it was a bit challenging because of the leg position and the arms hanging way out. Nice dynamic pose though. A cool mini.

I'll be painting the Hsien HMG next. I have to say, it is the least appealing mini in the Red Veil box, aesthetically, to me. There's just something about it. Meh.

Thanks for stopping by.

As a fan of Manga/Anime, I do like the look of the Infinity stuff.
What I don't like though, is the model poses (more specifically, the way the poses prevent easy modifications, although the catwalk poses of the ladies is a bit much for a war-game, as pretty as they are for display) and the material; which also hampers modification to the models.
I like the plastic "raw material" that GW pumps out.

Looking good, Red'.

I prefer metal to plastic, no question. I don't do any sort of conversion work though-- not something that I enjoy doing. Building from scratch, yes, but converting someone else's work, meh. At most, on 'wide stance' minis, I pushing the legs closer together so the minis do not look like they are doing a splits (base is ~50" in scale, and minis with feet hanging over the sides just look silly to me. Desperately Seeking Groin Pull. Ha.)

Here are the last two minis from the box, base coated. The Hsien is on the left, and it's next in the queue. And it is a case of a mini with a boring pose, IMHO.

Plan is to finish it on/before Sunday. Then the final mini on/by the 28th. Real Life permitting.

Thanks for stopping by.

I like the pose on the left. Nice for zenithal....that thigh plate is a big flat surface with a dynamic lighting if you so choose. GREAT looking stuff Red. As always Ill be honest my back and neck are sure happy with my hiatus of painting infinity models! LOL
