As a Command Vehicle it kind of fits. It's pretty much just an armoured truck.

Seeing the clearer pic, I'm a fan.

The retracting ladder under the hatch is a nice touch... wonder if it can be built extended.

I am curious about the turret. Those look to be assault cannons rather than multi-lasers... GW took assault cannons away from guard in 3rd edition.

THAT MAKES PERFECT SENSE!

The Taurox has kind of been seen before! Page 5 of "Cities of Death" has something not unlike the Taurox being designated a "Command Vehicle".

Or flying Chimeras (non-vehicle type, that is).

Rough Riders are gone as of now from the US store.

That's great Kan. We know you have a giant hate-boner for anything you personally don't approve of, but stop picking on the Rough Riders. There are people out there who do like them, and who very much want to keep using them.

If rough riders are gone from the Imperial Guard codex, I'll happily share the Kan-beatings with you.

Kan, rough riders have existed since rogue trader. Your personal dislike is fine, don't have them, but willing them to disappear from 40k cos you don't like them is not going to endear you to people, me included. I love the idea of Napoleonic cavalry charging gunlines of advanced alien scum.

Well, on the bright side, the Tempes... no... the Storm Troopers look pretty ace. And the Codex... has a cover. I guess.

Thanks for the pics. The stormtroopers are going to be painted up as Skitarii for me. Hope they have a full set of those respirator heads.

Big, buff, and brutal. It's like the best Arbite/Ork vehicle ever released. Not a Guard vehicle by any stretch of the imagination though.

Actualy, weather the crap out of it and it looks like it would fit in quite well with DKoK.

No, no, this will never be fielded for my DKoK.

Footslogging or Stormlords for my boys!

Maybe a few Chimeras.

But mostly Stormlords, if they're not slogging.

So... The teeming hordes of human soldiers, barely scraping by in a universe of war as depicted by the various regiments, rough riders, and sundry infantry....

That's gone now huh?

Elite troops in flyers, that's the way the imperium fight now?

Elite troops in flyers might be the Tempestus, not the AM.

Really this is silly.

Lovely and I can see the exhausts and the vents on the hood are both looted from the ork bomma kit... so it's going to be a treat to loot it right back.

Not sure about any imperium applications though, don't know how I'd feel about including it alongside a leman russ or a couple of chimera, it's aesthetic is way off the mark for those.

To be clear, I far from hate it, I just don't think it's a good fit for Guard or whatever they are now, I think it's quite full of potential for my orks though.

The more I see of it, the more I'm kind of/sort of liking it.

Seeing it in a non-turquoise color scheme might make me far more accepting of it, along with removing some of the gold trim and things like that.

The new storm troopers don't seem to mesh with current cadians at all...makes me wonder if they will revisit them??

More likely than not it was intentional. Kasrkin are very distinctly "Cadian Guard", while these are probably meant to be more "Imperial".

Grab a Russ, turn it around backwards, and have another look...

Russ's bum, Taurox's face.

Why the feth is there a magician leading those stormtroopers? Is he going to fight Spider-Man? Why is the military sci-fi faction riding around in a heraldric clusterfeth and dressed for a steampunk convention. Feth this.

True I see your point it just stinks that anyone who is playing cadians have models which don't mesh well with current plastics.

On a side note I do see how they are trying to make them more "gothic" looking...

Because GW is trying to create a strong aesthetic with these, make them readily identifiable, not simply 28mm heroic human scifi troops, but a clear look that they own.

I don't begrudge them this, we have many options if we don't care for this look. Personally I can see so many alternative options and kit bashes from these stormtrooper kits that I can't wait for all the =I= and rogue traders that will come from it.

Preaching to the choir, bud. I've got 50 Kasrkin sitting in a drawer right now wondering how these new guys are going to fit in...

The good news is I would only be interested in one or two boxes, tops, to get a Command Squad and some assorted Command-y guys going.

GW can call units and indeed armies whatever they want - the 3rd party guys can also use the same names in describing what their add-ons are for.

And if they can't call whole models the same thing, so what?

They'll just sell them as "Imperial Guard" or "Elite Guard" or whatever.

It seems as if GW's Copyright Craziness is just that - crazy!

This aesthetic is so unbecoming. Not stoked to crush enemies with the frilly tanks of the Astra Militarum.

That truck...

The aesthetic makes me think of the fat short bikers. Not what they were going for is my guess.

I'm dropping in on this thread at the end, so perhaps this has been discussed, but are we sure this is actually codex imperial guard? Maybe these "astra milawhatsits" are not really imperial guard at all. All we've seen are stormtroopers, a not very guard vehicle, and a commissar on the cover. Maybe this is a dex about the upper hierarchy of the imperial military machine - scholia progenitum types. Maybe they are getting their own dex (and the chance to ally with everyone). Renaming IG something fancy seems like a bad move. After all, codex Knights has what, 3 models?

if its only 72 pages I dont think it can be the guard codex. It looks like an all storm trooper supplement?

As is often the case, my opinion of the trukk has improved with better pics.

Still looks wrong for IG, and it needs slamming to the deck! the tracks need to be half as high as they are.

Eww, just no. This abomination isn't even close to the DKoK concept. They're supposed to be WWI in space, and their tanks match that concept. I'm not really sure what the inspiration for the new transport is, but it's certainly not a WWI tank.

2 (or rather, one with a weapon option). That's the way of the future.

Stay tuned for Codex: Marbo. It contains the same entry as is in the Guard (sorry, Astra Militarum) codex, but with a page of rules for using him as an army of one, or as allies for any other army (even Tyranids... they'll never even know he's there, after all).

The rest of the 72-page codex will be filled with Chuck Norris-style Marbo jokes. (Guardsman Marbo doesn't hide in the jungle... the rest of the Galaxy hides outside the jungle, hoping he doesn't come out...)

Coming in April. Direct only, and only with the special secret digital handshake that you can get by going into a GW store and buying 3 Marbo miniatures. On a tuesday. Between 9:30 and 9:35.

I think that's just wishful thinking. I can't imagine GW releasing two new "not IG" codices and a real IG codex, especially if the "not IG" armies come first while the IG codex is stuck in 5th edition. It's an incredibly stupid name, but I think we're stuck with it.

The Imperial Guard were always my first love for warhammer 40k. The first tank I actually ever bought was an Imperial Guard Basilisk in 2nd Edition. - I still used it in a game not too long ago.

A 'perfect' Imperial Guard release could have been The Thing to drag me back into 40k, albeit with some kicking and screaming.

Now, awesome looking berets or not, I'm continuing to run a mile away from the game.
