Dragon Red (didn't know about that) = Dark Red
Pure Red = Normal Red (probably should match the GW spray decently)

Yes, actually. About 66 pounds.

Looks like the defense forces save a bit as well - about 23.5 pounds.

Case-in-point, the new update on my local GW store's Facebook page,

Come by the shop today and place your pre-order! You can also get yourself a FREE Space Marine Captain for placing orders on the new web store at the shop!

Right, obviously the reason we were all looking forward to the new web store was for the thrill of going into the tiny one-man store to use it on their computer...

You get the awesome experience of supporting your FLGW and talking to your local red shirt about the HHHobby, and you also get to experience the awesome web shopping experience.

You should be happy that you only have to pay once for both experiences!

I almost always buy from my local FLG, its FTW Games of Spikey Bits fame. But when it comes to SOB, I have to go straight to the source. E-bay's prices are sometimes higher than GW's.

No, they had the option. As Azrael said, they just put in an insane shipping charge to discourage people from actually doing it.

Well, this is daft. If you follow that EXACT link, it takes you to the prices in Euros. You reset it to UK and it takes you back to the homepage. Previously you could just reset the country and remain on the same page or it would retain in your cookies whatever currency you had been on previously.

This will make for some fun with more people from the US following an Aussie link....

I stand corrected then. Well the GW's are now stuck with the same trade policies as the FLGSes then.

I know I'm late to the party here, but this new website sucks. It's just a storefront and nothing more. If I wanted to talk someone into getting into 40K, I would not direct them to the official site as they won't be able to learn a damn thing about the game other than how much it costs.

And that "free" model that basically costs $20-$25 (since I would have to give up that much in discounts with any other seller)? Why would I do that when, for a few dollars more, I could get any of these amazing models that are far superior?

As rumoured, the terrain section took a big hit, with lots of plastic kits discontinued, a.o. the crater field with the Rhino, the Chaos hill etc.

Also for me the page is loading slower than before. Add to this the need to uncheck the army you just watched to go to the next, the performance even for just buying is much slower.

Also noticed some glitches: New IG Codex only shown in tiny pic. German mandrake page describes them as resin miniatures, then describes them as metal miniatures.

anyone noticed this one?

They list 3 Astra Militarum Catachan Heavy Weapon Squads, But clearly meant 'teams' as they actually sell a set named Squad, its 3 bases, and they sell a 'team' its one base.

I know full well they meant 3 teams, or one squad... if anyones bought one of these, complain and demand your other two heavy weapons SQUAD boxes

Ok, there is something I actually don't like about the new website - how everything is split up.

Say I want to look at the new Ogryn kit. I can't. I have to look at the "Ogryn", "Bullgryn" and "Nork" kits in separate things. I have to switch between them. That's just adding more steps to the process.

No, what doesn't make sense is the entire concept of GW's stores cannibalizing each other's sales. They aren't independent stores with their own profits and losses, they're different cash registers in the same store. It doesn't matter where you buy an item, all the money goes to the exact same place.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

While thats true... GW also give bonuses to stores who make high sales and turn the staff over of ones who cannot meet targets.Which does kind of pit them against each other for job security and perks. Even though all the pennies only flow towards GW Plc lol.

Edit; they mghtve done well with a franchise kind of setup instead. Like what McDonalds do; each McD's place is owned by different people who give McD hq a set amount to be part of the franchise in return get to be paid better when their own branch does well or suffers when it suffers.

This isn't unusual though, it causes frustration at the front line sometimes, but this is just retail sales in general. I've had to tell customers to buy from the website, because we were unable to offer what they wanted in store on multiple occasions. Ultimately, if you're on performance related pay working for a multi site retailer, this will happen at some point. God knows, I nearly got disciplined once because my store had a difficult to source item in stock, and another branch were trying to claim it for a "confirmed sale" (I had it on good authority they just wanted it so they could sell it and profit from it) and they involved my line manager's manager who then tried to overrule me. I had to cash in several favours to emerge from that situation unscathed!

These sorts of political wranglings will occur, it is down to internal management to strike the balance and keep things fair, and that, I suspect, is where GW may struggle.

Eesh! that sounds like a massive headache that they I dont imagine you get paid well enough to deal with hehe.

Anyone here actually ordered one of these cadian or catachan defence forces?
When you get it and find it to contain (kind of as expected) 3 bases worth of heavy weapons team, I dare you to call GW on their poorly described products and claims your 6 extra bases of heavy weapons at their expense

Yeah, the idea of limited run paints (and primers in particular) is so dumb I don't even know what to say. I guess you can always go back to black primer + red base coat?

Or alternatively, use a paint supplier that understands painters.

Yep "retail-sales", a concept invented by blood-sucking middle managers to force the uncertainty and stress of a sales job onto minimum-wage shelf-stackers and till operators. No matter how often it's shown that well-paid staff with a strong sense of job security will be more productive, more innovative, and result in better outcomes for your business in the long-run, many companies(and GW are a prime offender) are still stuck in this mentality that sees staff as an expense to be minimised rather than a resource to be cultivated.
