There is a big QnA sessions going on on the Facebook right now...

Also this:

Is that the first finished card we've seen? Troops in lane...?

Yeah, you're giving me some serious tower defense/ MOBA vibes here.

The fact that it's Co op too...

Are we going to be building lanes via cards, or will we have a modular board to put this on?

Looking forward to this, especially since it's May. It's also May tomorrow...

And if Dogs of War can get pimped out in plastic for a worker placement type game, I don't know what's stopping Xenoshyft from getting blinged out as well down the line.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Crippling mortality rates on Troops.

I would not object to promo physical figures though.

Still I understand what you mean.

So, what you're saying then, is that there will be TONS of armored human figures...

Or aliens, or both, but having actual models really be involved destroys the portability of a card game, which may be a key concept for this.

But is it *TRULY* a card game?

It seems very card driven, from what little we know and what we've gleaned so far.

I do wonder if there will be an actual board to set the cards up on, or a mat of some sort, or a stretch goal that offers something of the sort.

That comment about "lanes" just screams MOBA or tower defense, and I know they've mentioned the tower defense elements before. Having some sort of pre- defined lane area would be a nice element.

Mr. Black's comments about storing the game on Facebook have got me quite interested to see how everything fits in the box, including having all the cards sleeved.

CMON's games are good about putting all the core pieces back in the box. Stretch goal and kickstarter exclusives, well that's another story...

And again, in regards to plastic- Dogs of War certainly didn't need any figures made. That didn't stop them, however...

So May is now almost halfway over. You guys are starting to run out of time now! Get this thing started already!

You would be surprised (or perhaps not) at how easy that art direction was.

*sigh*

Another day, another preview...

How many lanes will we have to deal with? Will there be a finite amount of spaces within each lane? Are we going to have a board or mat that designates each lane?

I'm getting impatient and will just have to keep asking questions to quell my curiosity.

Also trying to figure out why there's an ammo icon on the bottom of the spider.

Dragging this thread up to the forefront to summon Mr. Black and remind him that it's still May.

Won't be May much longer though...

Players! Mr. Black here, and let's take a look at the newest teaser video we've put up for XenoShyft.

Here we've fully revealed the game board, and I'm here to give you a rundown of just what you're seeing.

As you can see, on the outer edges we have the Division Lanes, aka where each player will sit- it's basically their own private game area. In the Blue NorTec areas they will deploy their Troops, and in the Red Hive areas are where, each round, their Division will be attacked by four (or more, in some events) enemies. Also here is a space for each player's personal deck- all players begin with a similar deck in the beginning, but based on their Division and the cards they purchase their deck will become unique amongst all those in play.

Moving on, right above the Division Lane we have a spot for your Division Card, so you can always quick reference the various bonuses that you'll be getting as the game goes on.

Next up we have the Resource Area, which is split into two distinct areas. One side is composed of the various NorTec Troops and Xenosathem Resource cards (which are always constant) and the other side are for semi-random cards, such as Weapon and Armor Cards, Technology Cards, etc etc... These are in part determined by the Divisions in play and part by random draw.

Lastly, we have the Encounter Decks, which represent the various aliens that make up The Hive. I'm not going to spoil super much here, but as you can see there are three of them, Wave 1, Wave 2, and Wave 3... That's because, as the game goes on, the enemies are going to become bigger and nastier, so while you'll be acquiring bigger and shinier toys... The monstrous aliens waiting to devour you will likewise become more fierce and hostile.

Well, that's all for now players, we're prepping for the CMoN Expo this weekend, where we'll have full demos of XenoShyft running... And, of course, as mentioned before, we'll be coming to Kickstarter very soon.

Until then!

-Mr. Black

I saw the header image for the video and started to get excited it might actually be a miniatures game- a second glance dispelled this illusion.

So the game is being demoed already and still no Kickstarter for the rest of us outside of the convention?

Ugh.

News from the Expo so KS officially next Friday - MSRP $60 which matches up with Dogs of War so KS $50 (EB $45)
Playmat, 475 cards, HP tracker for base, fold-out lane boards. A model of an Ajax battle suit as a first-player token (see image top of this page)
Game is part of the Dark Age Universe

From TGN - http://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/2014/05/24/89004/
XenoShyft panel discussion

Here we are with the XenoShyft panel discussion.

As before I’ll be updating this thread as we go along.
So let’s ride!

We’re here with Curtis, Leif, David and Mike, the developers of the game.

The game is a cooperative deck builder.
The object is to survive 9 rounds. Not destroy everything, or beat your opponents, but just to live.

“It’s a hard game. I want you to feel like taking a victory lap when you win.”

We want it to be a team effort. Cards you buy can go into other lanes to save their ass.

Each player plays a different aspect of NorTech military. Someone is the science lab, or command, or the med lab or barracks or so forth.

Very community based, as everyone is interacting with one another over the course of the game.

It’s a lot like a tower defense game, but with deck building elements.

There’s armor and other equipment that has changed the game from the original form.

Original versions were much flatter. Much has been added to create interactions between aliens and the players.

The game is made for 1-4 players. Each time you add a player, the base gets more HP so it scales easily.

Communication is certainly key, as you’ll never succeed that way. Every choice you make can have repercussions at the end of the game.

There are several ways the refine your deck your deck as the game progresses.

Random resource pool. There are some determined by the type of Lane you are playing, but most are randomly determined. So every game will be different.

Expansions will be able to add new resources or even the alien type (killer robots or whatever) to mix things up. Even maybe the Hive as the players!

There are several cards that have been created one way, but by playing with it, other forms of use have come out. We want to make sure that the cards create a sense of fair play between players.

There is a lot of debate as players go through their turns, since the sequential nature means there is never a clear “one right path” to win the game.

Kickstarter next Friday.
Playmat, 475 cards, HP tracker for base, fold-out lane boards.
MSRP of 60.
A model of an Ajax battle suit as a first-player token.

We want the game to be thematically stunning. We want a cohesive look. One artist for the marines and another for the aliens.
Art is very key to the overall feel of the game.
Possible art book on the kickstarter.

A consolidation of IP. XenoShyft takes place in the Dark Age universe, before the great collapse seen in that game.
Possible crossovers in the games.
Hive minis in Dark Agr? Eventually?

Want to make the best game we can.

We actually put a lot of effort into packaging so that everything is snug, even with sleeved cards.
Individual slots for different card types and individual resources.

Looks pretty plain too. Might just be the angle of the photograph though. It's starting to interest me again though. Sounds like a mix of the Resident Evil deckbuilder with Castle Panic.

I'll echo the sentiments that the board is MASSIVE. I guess to accommodate 4 players at once?

Plus, getting an Ajax suit as a first player marker? If it's to scale with a typical miniature figure, that might be a nice size player marker! Also, with the Dark Age connection, there's a chance we might see some more figures with this game yet, or at the very least as add ons.

Guess I'll be hovering on my computer a lot next week- Xenoshyft, Drakerys, Galaxy Defenders (YAY!), and probably that Fallen Frontiers... lots of minis and mini related stuff coming up. Plus everything that's running right now!
