They made the kustom - mega - kannon an artillery piece, same guns on the Morkanaught. To bad they didnt make the deff storm mega shoota from the Gorkanaught one.
Maybe they realized that 15d6 S6 shots might be a bit to much.

Hm. Well that causes some new issues for abuse. I mean, what gets to determine "appropriate"? Especially with conversions and kitbashes, or old models.

Again, models of a similar type. What's your scratchbuild supposed to be of? Mek Guns? Use the same base as the official Mek Gun.

I really love my Orks I own roughly 8000pts worth of them but I am quickly loosening interest in anything GW.
Since the Chapter House case, GW must be looking at the Drug Companies business model: Make as much money as you can on a drug until the generics come out.

Mek Gunz don't have bases. And I've seen conversions that make the models larger than the original version. I don't think this always works when you get into people upscaling models or some of the other conversions out there.

Being the chap I am, I've sat rolling dice for smasha guns. Tried rolling to hit, then 2d6+4, got nowhere. Tried rolling strength, then to hit, then rolling to pen (all vs armour 14) and it does seem to work. I'm no mathematician. But I'm willing to give them a go I think.
Unless th strength is one dice for the whole battery?...

Well I find it really disheartening that it will be Waaagh Ghazghkull. Should have really expected it given what chaos got.
They could do so much better with a Speed Freak codex. Would give them some time and opportunity to make a great Wazdakka model too.
Sigh. At this point I'm unlikely to get it. Automatically Appended Next Post: rtb01 wrote:Being the chap I am, I've sat rolling dice for smasha guns. Tried rolling to hit, then 2d6+4, got nowhere. smasha can't penetrate AV14 97.22% of the time so I don't think it's much better.
You don't understand sequential probabilities very well.
I was a bit quick yesterday and did not break it down in details so allow me:
50% of the shots hit,
it is essentially a ST4 hit with 2D6 for PEN. to PEN an AV14 you will therefore need a 11 or a 12 which is 3 out of 36 (on 2D6 you have 2x 11, and 1x12) so 8.6%
Once you combine both you are now at 4.17% chance to penetrate.
So you're correct I did my first calculation a tad too quickly. I hope we are now on the same page.

Ghaz represents a typical waaagh of combined klans. Why would you want a cult codex? That is more likely a supplement or you can just make the army using the multitude of selections available.

Probably means Ghazzy is out of the codex and were going to have to drop another $40 to get him in the supplement. I hope the replacement HQs in the ork codex are halfway decent.

I would be perfectly happy if we end up with Waaaagh Ghazghkull, Waaagh Wazdakka and Waaagh Nazdreg to represent the major clans. (Goff, Speed Freeks and Bad moonz)
The worst thing about the previous codex was Ghazzy was almost a required IC due to how good he was and how bad his warboss counterparts were compared to him.

None of the codex supplements have removed characters from the main codex so far. Farsight is still in the Tau codex. Lysander is still in the marine codex. Abaddon is still in the Chaos Marine codex.

I don't think we are getting any new buggies or kopters. I think all that's left is mega nobz the dex and a plastic HQ which is about right considering every one else's releases.
Sucks considering how much we need the new buggies and kopters but I think we would have seen some pics by now if there was.

Well, Marbo got removed from Codex: AM, and I personally think that it is very likely that he will end up in the Catachan supplement that GW surely will release at some point.

That's feral boys. The snakebites have the whole Ork Kulture to look after, as the other klans keep getting it all wrong.
They are also providing the squigs in your plate, and are teaching the grots how to behave.
Best Squiggoths are also bred with the attention of snakebites, as well as the boars.
See if GWS had given an Snakebites the job to fix the big guns you'd be reading "Runtherd's Gunz" and you would totally be in awe of the squig Katapult:
A template that stays on the board, moving around eating away the flesh of their enemies.

Is there even an Ork codex on the horizon?
I have been skimming through this long thread and I am not so sure we are even getting a codex anytime soon. The stuff is cool, but way Over Priced. Especially for Ork players. We are the king of scratch build and conversions. GW must not understand what they are doing to themselves.
Looks like I better get me an order of Plasticard ready.
