I really want(ed) mass customization for boyz blobs via purchaseable characters or AM style "3 Weirdboyz per HQ slot" or whatever.
Wouldn't have been too much to ask to get some klan rules too while we're at it
Forget everything else, the Boyz are the core of an Ork WAAAAGH and I want rules that represent the ramshackle "whatever boyz is lyin about" nature of the mobs

Yeah but Astra blobs are an aberration and completely bizarre. The old blobs were bad enough, but my blobs right now can pretty much wade out there and shoot or CC with almost anything and be better point for point. 5 plasma guns and 5 power axes plus a fearless priest makes for a real nightmare.

no one is really concerned with am blobs, not in an ork rumor thread anyways.
I'm sure there is an AM tactics thread somewhere on dakka.
back to orks, i wouldnt mind having more customization with the boys, either through upgrades or characters, but i just want the plain ole boy to still be good!! and his tank bustin, burna throwin, dakka flyin friends!!

Well when wish listing for something similar to AM blobs on an ork thread, it is a perfectly reasonable thing to bring up the fact that AM blobs break every rule both in fluff and crunch. They are a broken thing within a book that shouldn't have them.

All long as Pianboys can take a bike upgrade, I have no issue with them being HQ IC's: that means they'll make their LOS rolls on a 2+'instead of a 4+. Huge improvement their.
If they can't take a bike upgrade, well I'll be out of luck.
P.S. I'll be playing unbound lists as much as possible unless my league of a tourney doesn't allow it.

That or you have to pay an extra 20 bucks for a limited edition Soopa-Orkified version of the codex where everything is written in Orkspeak. Then they can actually justify having poor grammar and spelling.
I'll be perfectly honest.. I'd buy that.

Nob bikers have kind of been left out of this thread. They are arguably our best unit and its always a question what GW will do with those types of units. In my opinion they are in no way over powered or broken. I fear for their cloud exhaust rules and losing their painboyz. If that hsppens it will put a major hurting on the already expensive unit, but cant freak out until the rules come out! We can still hold optimism!
I also hope Warbosses get a few more options. I love my warbosses on bikes and anything else that makes them kore badass is a plus!!!

I'm with you there. I own 15 Warbikes, and they are often the core of my Apoc games, nobbed and Pk'd out as they screech up the field with their trust painboyz in tow. Their saving grace was that +4 auto cover without having to declare a Jink save. I'm hoping that they will keep that. It's just Orky with their smog spitting exhausts. Was never really that broken either. I'd get lucky days and bad days when it came to my covers.
Plus, i love those damn models! I've got to finish painting the last of them though.

My fear is they will be nerfed to uselessness: no Waaagh banner, increase in point cose for bike upgrade, nerf to Big Choppa, etc...
Also remember the only official "nob biker" model, is through forge world. So I don't know if that's a good sign.

I doubt they will remove Nob Bikers from the codex. I doubt people buy the FW nob biker anyway. I wouldn't even buy the Warboss one. I just converted a AOBR warboss and put him on a bike. Good enough for me. And considering how bikes are more ingrained with Orks than most other factions (Due to Speed Freaks among others), I doubt they would want to hurt their chances of selling both Bike kits and Nob kits.

It would be nice if Orks kept the smoke cloud, but if they drop to ~18 points and lost it, they are still in good shape- Jink is still a 4+ cover, and of all the bikers, Orks have the least reason not to jink- their shooting goes from TL BS2 to TL BS1, a far more marginal difference than Marines or Eldar. And many ork bike units are focused on close combat, with shooting a bonus, where Jink does nothing to hurt their capabilities.

On the note of warbosses, what other wargear would they get besides access to a normal Scorcha rather than a kombi one? I take that back, rokkit packs. Gimmie dat rokkit pack so i can attach him (and painboyz please) to stormboyz!!!! And if bikes lose Exhaust Cloud, or it goes to a 5+ or something, the point cut might help warbikers but i fear it'll hurt nobbikers as i sincerely doubt the nob will get a price cut. the bike upgrade MIGHT but that'd be it. Nobbikers arent op at all. My blob of 7 bikers plus boss runs me around ~650pts or something like that. Yes ive had games where they just do not die....guess what that happens for every model its just more commonly known for nobbikers because T5 so rarely pasted and FNP after a 4+ save on a multi-wound model...kinda gets more noticed than that unit of Grots in my backfield that somehow take out 4 SM bikers on their own lol (40pts of grots ftw baby!) Ive also had games where i literally lost my entire nob biker unit by turn 2. Every single wound went through, failed leadership, ran off board, etc etc. It happens, and sucks ass when it does.

I suppose thats true. Plus, twin linked is always good even with a halved BS (which as stated, means very little in the long haul for us) Still, anyway we can keep our normal shooty would be good too. :p

That's not true. The equipment options included on the sprues include big choppas and PKs. Normal boyz can't take those. Just because the ork driver model might not be as big/nobby as you might want them to be doesn't mean they wouldn't count as Nobz in a game. I have a unit of Nob bikers using the box's bike ork bodies but with the proper equipment - I even went as far as to make some single-shot skorcha pistols to represent kombi weapons - no opponent has ever said they aren't "official" nobz.

Remember that a LOT of the current codex rules dont have official models. FW added them because a lot of people dont know how to kitbash very well and wanted a legit beefy and burly nob on an epic and obviously not a warbiker bike. Only reason my bikers can be classified as nobz is because of the PK and the painboy in the back, the rest are slugga-choppa and/or bigchoppas.
Current models that dont have a GW model, but have rules include:
Wazdakka
Old Zogwort (speaking of him, wonder whats goin on with him)
Warboss in Mega Armor and Bike (Note: The model we do have for mega armor is Ghazzy, not a warboss, though everyone uses it as such)
Big Mek in Mega Armor
Nobbikers
Flash Gitz
and obviously Looted Wagons
I would be very surprised if they release a model for each of the above, and i probably missed one.

There are nob parts in the biker kit, to make one of the 3 into a nob. So that existed.
I suspect the cost for Bikes on nobs will drop. They are not the death star they once were thanks to the wound allocation changes, and bikes and bike upgrades to units in general have dropped in cost- Marine Command Squad bikes went from 18 points a model to a mere 7 per model. Eldar Warlocks bikesdropped from 20 each to 15. It would make sense for Nob bike upgrades to drop from the current massive 25 each to closer to somewhere in the 15-20 each range. If biker boys are 18 points each, I'd guess that is also what it will cost to upgrade a nob to a bike.

Well, if anything, they are still decent T5, 2W models that can make opponents feel uneasy. But yea, the ignore cover bug that seems to have spread to most codecies lately has put a dampener on the bikes. I'm REALLY glad that they are making the KFF an invul instead of cover (if this rumor indeed holds water). It should have been in the first place.

Luckily my friends dont use a whole lot of ignores cover weps. Mostly just some dark reapers and a WW. My biggest concern is painboys not being able to take a bike, or that bike wargear isnt as good (like 5+ smoke cloud or not smoke cloud at all)

I'll be annoyed if it gets nerfed, but I'll be glad to get any save at all. Though it might just go away in favor of letting us Jink instead. *shrug* Who knows. We'll see!

We can still hold optimism!
I also hope Warbosses get a few more options. I love my warbosses on bikes and anything else that makes them kore badass is a plus!!!
This has been my fear as well. Nob Bikers are indeed powerful, but you pay for it in points. Plus theyre already a little less effective with all the ignores cover floating around. I hope they dont get hit with the nerf bat
We'll see!
I can see that happening considering bikes have jink anyway.
