I did awake this morning with an idea of sorts so I'll give it another bash with the greenstuff at some point but that will have to wait until Sunday now, what with NYE and then relatives coming to stay...

On another note, I have the main hull of the Sicaran assembled and magnets on the way for swappjng out sponson weapons.

Not bad at all. From that angle it definitely looks fine.

Cheers Paradigm, a couple of bouts of nerd-rage later and I got something I was happy with. I got the basic shape as you see it down last night- it needs smoothing out plus some extra definition and tidying up done on the folds. Also need to put a pin or badge on the left pad as a means of attachment for the cloak. Here's a shot from further round the back:

Cheers. I think a very small Aquilla would act as a nice cloak pin on his left shoulder pad or just a simple stud?

An aquila would do the trick if you ask me, gives you a bit more wiggle room to disguise the join, the problem with a simple stud is it will be very obviously bolted to his shoulder armour!

By the way i've been a terrible lurker of late, just wanted to pipe up and say that although I have no time I still come here to gape in awe at your skills whenever I see an update.

Also the picture of the beer and resin goodness on the last page made me laugh, didn't even need to read on to know that was bugmans...its a dangerous environment over there in Nottingham, impulse buys are only a beer away.

J-Paint, it certainly has been a while! Many thanks for the kind words, I have to say I'm looking forward to seeing updates from you if here are any on the horizon? With regards to Bugmans, I made the trip to WHW specifically to pick up the Sicaran but thought I'd may as well try a pint, even if it was only 11am (but hey, the sun is always over the yard-arm somewhere, right?).

Magnets arrived but I have not had much opportunity to sort out the sponsons on the Sicaran, might get something done this afternoon.

Just for you I will see if I can get round to posting something later on today, I have definitely been a bit lax in that respect! As for the beer, well exactly, we did exactly the same when we visited, morning beer doesn't seem remotely as bad when you are there, probably all the fantasy paraphernalia, doesn't exactly conjure images of the slippery slope to alcohol dependence! I have to say though I have been particularly impressed by the white you achieved on the terminator armour, beautifully smooth!

Also because I enjoyed them so much, any more progress on anything guard related? the grenadiers for example?

Also also, have you been using woodland scenics snow for your snow so far? I think I remember you saying you did but when I have tried to use it I have found the grain size (for want of a better word) slightly too large, have you found something similar?

edit: also also also, the cloak so far looks perfect, forget to mention!

I never thought it possible but I am rather pleased with the white armour- the joys of an airbrush and already graded Vallejo greys and whites!

Nothing new on the Guard front though I should probably rotate back onto them at some point soon. I used Woodland Scenics Soft Flake Snow mixed with PVA and water to give a heavy, wet snow. I then sprinkled a bit more on top to give the illusion of a freshly fallen dusting.

The cloak will get a bit of finishing this afternoon

Sponson weapons are magnetised

So, I'm geting closer to putting some paint down on my Marksman and I am struggling with what to do about his cloak... I was thinking some form of camouflage like A TACS or Swedish M90 desert or some kinda swirly, stripey thing... Any ideas?

Oooh, I'd like to see you pull off a copy of ATAC's !

I think any of the Multicam / digicam / ATAC styles would look sweet , its just gonna take a while !

I think the blurred effect of ATACS would suit the 'chameleoline' properties of the rules Exodus has (though bearing in mind, this is my "counts-as" Exodus). Will have a look at what paints I have but I have a feeling I'll need to order some...

Try to blur all the hard edges will be fun !

As long as the colors match the base, I think you will crush it. It always throws me when sniper scouts have forest camo on urban basing.

Good point Whaley, but not an exact match or it will all blend together ( like its supposed to ! ) and loose "pop", I did this with some of my boys scout snipers and we keep losing them !

@Whaley, I'm leaning towards a concrete and slightly arid climate; less desert themed and more mediterrenean. Ish... I had visions of Monte Cassino and they've kinda stuck.

Sounds a cool idea for an environment, are you going to camo the armour too ? Or just the cloak ?

I'd do both ! And then go totally overboard with some OSL on the lens

The plan was to just do the cloak. The fluff around Exodus is that nobody knows if he is just a single marine or one of many so the more he looks like the other Headhunters the better.

This evening I shall get the Sicaran primed and possibly even get the airbrush out and make a start on painting it! Exodus will have to wait as I am yet to receive some holstered Tigrus bolt pistols and ammunition pouches.

Cant wait to see that tank painted... thats a badass machine and cant wait to see the paintjob you give it mate!

Why thank you MB, I shall endeavour to do a good job! I actually spent the evening revisiting my old Space Wolves Contemptor dreadnought- it now has a new base and will receiving some new colours too...

Just a sneaky peek at what I've been doing this evening:

That tank model itself is lovely.... and the turret is a really nice design! IMHO Good choice!

It has to be one of my favourite Marine vehicles though I also have a soft spot for the Deimos Predator and Spartan

I'll see how far I get this evening but just getting to that stage took about an hour and a half! I need to figure out the markings on it too- I'm thinking about doing the barrels steel and doing flash damage on the ends. I also want to try hazard stripes on what I can only assume are the firing mechanisms at the rear of the guns (the ammunition hoppers are tucked in right next to the turret).

Yeah, the Sicaran is one hell of a tank, and it has pretty nasty stats to boot! Looking forward to how this comes out.

Yeh the Spartan, Macharius Vulcan & The Dracosan are my 3 favs... once I get my Mach MkI finished and then after the comp.... I might.... MIGHT... attempt a Spartan Scratchbuild... will wait and see!

That could work, or do the recess in the front part of the tracks between the armor.

Unfortunately all my airbrushibg activities are on hold until I get another airbrush as mine seems to have finally died :( I've spent more time recently taking it apart and cleaning it than I have putting paint to model. Last night paint started shooting out the of the front above the nozzle and paint was coming out when the air was activated and the needle wasn't pulled back.

So I dumped a ton on a Badger Patriot 105 and some quick release bits... I was supposed to be saving money but I'd rather get a really good airbrush which comes recommended. It's being delivered to work so I won't get it until Monday. No painting the Sicaran for me over the weekend which I was actually planning on getting finished. Still, I'll get the Contemptor stripped and primed again and the Headhunters built.
