AduroT wrote: One of the things that got me with a Bloodlines is the upgrade of Shifters' ability. Used to be they had to shed their skin to do it and it took some time. It was a really big deal for that Prime Shifter who could just change at will. Now apparently any given Shifter can do it. The Werewolf was also in complete control of their powers it seemed. Meanwhile Sam and Dean are helping monsters hunt down a Hunter, and don't seem to have any problem with that. I think making it a back door pilot and including those two actually really weakened the episode and creates a bunch of plot holes.
It's possible that since it's because it's an organized group that has been together for a while, they've honed their abilities. Most of the others have been the more feral types, who may not have as great control. *shrugs*
I did notice this as well, and was wondering how they'd retcon it, if they'd even bother.

I didn't mind that bit. I mean, look at the episodes with Gordon way back in s2 and 3. Sam and Dean seem to be okay with putting down other Hunters when they go off the deep end and start killing "innocents".
Buffy is about supernatural beings, and her having to save the world and beat a problem
Angel is about supernatural beings, and him trying to both solve the cases he finds and save the world potentially
Sam And Dead is about supernatural beings, it is about both of them trying to solve the case and potentially save the world.
If you scrap it down to its bare essentials
Angel and buffy had comedy episodes so does supernatural.
They make fun of things.
The only thing that buffy and angel have is musical numbers. We need a musical number by Sam and Dean.
Plus they both had government organizations, but supernatural doesn't. If only they had a secret organization in government that knew about these events.
From whom are unforgiven we bring the mercy of war.
Gotta admit, I checked out and so did the wife once we realized Sam, Dean, or Castiel weren't the focal of the episode. It was on in the background but we pretty much only looked up from other stuff when we heard Sam and Dean talk. We both enjoy Supernatural but it's not really that show without Sam and Dean.
As a sidenote if we could just delete the Leviathan season in it's entirety and say Bobby died differently the series would be the better for it. So bad....

I know, right? I was sure she was going to be that seasons big bad, but nope, she was getting in the way of Castiel's little civil war, and we all know we need more angels after the 2 season spanning apoc arc. So she gets like 5 minutes of screen time and a handful of ashes thrown at her. Then she dies.

Meh, I never figured her for a big baddy. I figured her power to be creating monsters, not being one. So I wasn't to miffed by it. Plus that season had a bunch of cool stuff about the boys back story and quite a few of the Alphas were cool characters.
The Leviathans were just plain dumb and the arc was horrible. But with 9 seasons to choose from most people will pick one of 6-9 as the bad ones

They just weren't believable for me. They could eat things, that was about it. Yet they were the bane of angels? These creatures that could teleport at will through the entire universe, possessed incredible power to harm or heal, etc etc... and these monsters with lots of teeth were able to cut right through them? Hell, a single ghost was able to hold up the strongest one of them.
I think that season could have been much better if they just made the leviathans something to be a bit more feared.
Me and the GF watched it this weekend.. and were less than impressed. I don't mind the premise so much, but it's obvious the only reason they're making Bloodlines is because they want another CW teen angst show. GF isn't gonna watch it, I might give it a couple episodes to see.. I like the idea of the monster families and all, but high school was 25 years ago for me I just don't think I'll be into it enough.
I prefer the angels & demons storyline personally.. thats what got me into the show to begin with, I like that whole biblical apocalypse theme.
There was a better monster show I saw recently on demand.. Penny Dreadful.. I think it's on Showtime. Takes place in the 1800's and it's all about vamps and frankenstein and stuff... and it's got a former bond girl and former james bond in it.

The leviathan arc wasn't great...but at least it was different.
I think the reason why they are so feared is because they are meant to be indestructible, can fool angels into thinking they're human and can consume anything they touch.
But then they undermined that by making them weak against cleaning products. The ghost part was silly as well. Maybe leviathans can only hurt things with a physical body, idk.
One of the things that bothered me is they weren't really leviathans, just goo monsters in business suits. Aren't leviathans meant to be big? That's what they were in the old testament, a giant sea monster.

Well, after seeing the Bloodlines episode, I must say I am relieved by this news article:
James Hibberd wrote:...another project is being gunned down at the starting gate: The Supernatural spin-off. Tribes, or Bloodlines, or whatever the title — it’s dead.
The Supernatural project was one of the highest-profile pilots this year, spun off from The CW’s 9-year-old veteran Supernatural, with a pilot that went on the air this season. So initially, Bloodlines (which changed its name from Tribes) was considered very likely to move forward, yet fan reaction to the pilot was largely negative — EW’s own informal poll showed only a third of viewers thought it was worth continuing. Sources say The CW is leaving open the possibility of spinning off Supernatural in another concept down the line.
I would totally be on board with a 'lower powered' group of hunters tangentially related to the current show. No angels, no apocalypses, very few if any demons. You can even have the same types of monsters - make them more individualized - and have a reasonable turn over on protagonists to show that monster hunting is f'ing dangerous.
I really wish that they would streamline the show by killing off most of the characters and bringing it back to hunting monsters rather than the heaven/hell politics bollocks that has been going on since the end of series 5.
I would like to see them tackle the Lovecraft Mythos, really. Introduce something truly alien that's outside of the Testament, or any human religion even.
The fairies and the Mother of All were a step in the right direction, but they didn't really explore that further; the creators just dropped it again like they usually do.
Also, what happened to that Human / Demon hybrid child? He just...vanished. Though that may be for the best...

I'd rather see em do a weird-western that's 100 years ago maybe with samuel colt as one of the main guys.. he made that demon-killer pistol way back in the day.. but with a focus more on monsters than angely stuff.

This season was spent trying to rid themselves of characters, Kevin Died. Garth Retired, Felicias Day Character is stuck in OZ.
Only Castiel, Crowley, and the brothers are the ones left from the past seasons.
