On a more serious note, I take it you can't get hidden abilities straight away with your starters? Otherwise speed boost torchic, OP. Get an uber by lv. 35 or whatever...
In X and Y, the only way to get hidden abilities on any pokemon was either through the Friend Safari or Swarms. These hidden abilities could then be passed down through breeding. This means that it was impossible to get a starter with a hidden ability, or breed one from it (that said, you could pretty much start out X/Y with a speed boost Torchic if you bought the game during the first few months anyway).
Since gamefreak has a tendency to screw around with features and mechanics in every iteration, I wouldn't be surprised if the Friend Safari is replaced with something else. Swarms will probably remain, however (although starters have never appeared in swarms).

Cool, thanks. I expect I can get one via trade if I really need one.

You can breed them thankfully to get more speed boost action.
So excited for these games, gen 3 was awesome and it has been soooo long since I have played them. Nuzlocke challenge for first playthrough I think
"I hate 6th! Fix it GW!!!"
"Seventh edition? Feth that GW! I'm sticking with sixth to show you who is boss! Via la revolution!"
"I'm not buying anything from you no more! Apart from three riptides, new codex, starter set and rulebook... but that's it!"
Nuzlocke is so fun, I've tried it about 5 times and managed it only twice. If you want difficult though, try the youngster Joey challenge. Beat the game with just a rattata. Good luck ^-^
I never do the Nuzlocke, I don't have the patience for multiple run throughs.

Nuzocke is really fun! Hard and emotional, but fun.
Having to release your favourite pokemon is heartbreaking lol. The first time I ran it, my Charmander (Billy-bob) was level 57 when he was knocked out by a critical hit and my heart sank... all we had been through!

One thing I'm pumped for - Rayquaza. Always been one of my favorite legendaries.
Deoxys was my favorite legendary and I really wish he'd actually gotten some development beyond random forms (even if it had been casual side things, such as giving him more purpose instead of adding Genesect in Gen V).
I did love the Groudon/Kyogre/Rayquaza interaction in Pokemon Emerald though.

Deoxyx is in Gen V?!? As in Black and White? As in not some one-time event?
And oh god, yes. Actually seeing Groudon and Kyogre fight each other made my day back then.

No, he's not sadly. I was saying that I wished the Genesect event had been a Deoxys event/Team Plasma side plot that involved Deoxys. Black and White had the best plot of any of the Pokemon games, in my opinion (Though Gen 1 and 2 are very close). They could have done a lot to explain why legendary pokemon are "legendary," how they come to be, and other things. I also wish that Black 2/White 2 had been the post Elite 4 part of Black/White.

Hmm... until Gen 4-ish, I really didn't care much for the story.
In my opinion:
In Gen 1 (LeafGreen counts right?) I didn't even know there was a plot.
I never played Gen 2.
Gen 3 had potential for a good story, but I really didn't care much for it.
Gen 4 upped the story, but other than Cyrus, I really didn't care about anyone else.
Gen 5 I haven't finished, but it's looking pretty good so far.
Then again, that's just my opinion.

I liked the Gen 1 story, it certainly wasn't in your face but it told us something about the history of pokemon, as well as quite a bit of the history of the region, you just had to look hard to find it.
I also liked how Gen 1's story treated all the pokemon like animals. As the series has gone on, the legendaries have gotten more and more into one-upsmanship, to the point of cosmic deities. It really feels kind of silly.
Yeah... There were a few with far too many legendaries as well to the point where they're not overly that special anymore. Keeping it to a trio with a more major legendary or two would have been just fine. The one upmanship entirely unneeded.
I did like the story for Black/White, and the story for X/Y was alright. But I'll agree, there are waaaaaayyyy too many legendaries anymore. I think they're still cool, but they're just not "special" anymore. Yveltal was cool,
Spoiler:
but the whole "absorbing all life" thing was a little over the top

On a side note, the girlfriend and I started the challenge of watching all the Pokemon movies. Well, we got through the first five (of 17!) this weekend. I've only watched the first one previously, but she's watched the first three when they were respectively released. I've actually enjoyed the ones I haven't seen before, excited for the remainders! I kinda want to catch up on the TV show too, but after a couple episodes, it seems like it's just the same thing recycled for each region
I can understand that there's one pokemon where all others originated from, but a god-like figure? Ehhhhh. I mean, I'm not against it, but I liked it when Mewtwo was the strongest of the strong*.
*I'm assuming he isn't the strongest, fluff-wise, anymore?
