Firefly and Dr Horrible have lifeless storytelling and plot development? That's news to me.

I haven't seen Dr. horrible, so I can't comment on that one.

The actual story in Firefly was so-so and pretty cliche over all. Don't get me wrong, I like the show. What makes it memorable is that there's no satisfying conclusion due to its thankfully short life span(Whedon really can't keep a show good past 2-3 seasons) and the interaction between the characters. Whedon is great with characters, both their interactions and dialogue, not so much the actual over all story.

Dollhouse season 2 was actually really good too.

And yeah, let's be honest. The only guy that's a regular on the show that's probably getting paid as name is Gregg Clark (or is it Clark Gregg).

Surely the characters are what bring life to storytelling? I agree that he isn't the best at story arc's or plots but his characters tend to stick with you as if they were old friends that you only knew for one summer as a child but made a big impact on your life.

I'd recommend watching Dr Horrible. It's only 40 minutes long and stars NPH and Nathan Fillion.

I think at Marvel, The Inmates are running the asylum, and that it is good

Honestly, at Marvel, I think the Warden is also an inmate himself. I mean, lets face it Stan Lee has far too much fun being Stan Lee. I'd be willing to bet that he'll make a cameo or two in even the TV shows.

Yes, but you still need to be able to have a story to tell and tell it decently. As I said, he tends to have 2, maybe 3 seasons in him before a show stops being good(imo) and most of that is due to the characters being able to carry the story. They can only carry a sub-par story so far, which is why I think he's really found his niche in movies rather than television.

For the most part his movies are better than his TV series, especially when comparing The Avengers to Agents of Shield. Serenity is probably the only exception to that rule in that it was nowhere near as good as Firefly.

Dollhouse season one was so dull that Whedon had to rush everything in season two to tell the story he wanted because there wasn't going to be a season three.

Angel was a trash show that only got good near the end, again because it was going off the air. If it weren't for Buffy being on at the same time, it Angel wouldn't have lasted as long as it did.

Firefly was pretty good. Serenity was trash.

The first half of SHIELD season one was dull like Dollhouse was. You can draw clear contrasts to shows like Arrow or Supernatural and see how mediocre it is. It didn't even start getting interesting until after Winter Soldier hit.

A series like SHIELD needs to show the audience that it is going somewhere, or at least that individual episodes have a purpose other than filler if you want to hold people's attention. Arrow does this. Supernatural does this. With Disney involved, you'd think it would be a given that SHIELD would do it too. Unfortunately, Whedon is running it when it would be a much better show if someone like Abrams were at the helm.

Space Cowboys, not pirates.

Eh, Abrams to me is just boring, at least Whedon tries to do stuff. Also, Agents of shield started picking up pretty well by episode 6 or so. Some of the filler on Arrow had me way more bored.

Now, back to being annoyed at Vikings season 2 being done.

I tried to watch Dollhouse.

Not even Eliza Dushku was enough to make me stick around to watch more than a couple of episodes.

I'm rather bored by superheroes - I didn't exactly grow up with them (I discovered comics as a kid, yes - but it was courtesy of a 2000AD in a showbag at on of our Easter Shows (big agriculture/rides and showbag thing) not from anything I found in a comic shop or newsagent.

I still prefer Joe Dredd to batman or superman or any of the marvel lineup. Even if neither movie has yet to live up to the comics.

Agents of shzzzzzzzzzz didn't grab me - or hold my attention long enough either. I haven't bothered with Arrow either.

I liked bits of Serenity. I liked bits of Firefly (Morena's bits, mainly fnar! ) oh and Wash's death and Jayne's gun fetish.
Ok, I'll watch Jewell Staite read the phone book as well.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

Who do you think was driving the Reaver ships?

If it means more of Hayley Atwell on our screens then I'm sold.
