Correct me if I'm wrong, Tre, but don't most sculptors use prelinked jewelry chain instead of sculpting it, too ?

sometimes but that there looks like sculpted chain. When you use pre made chain you have to go to a LOT of trouble to fill in all the little gaps left int he chain and most of the time the chain is too large thick to be convincing in scale anyway.

This has peaked my interest even more. If the game is well made and the rules clear, I think this will get my solid pledge. Zombicide quality stuff= pretty good, SW stuff=eh....

Small bit of news from Mike they are looking at the possibility of doing a small run of the miniatures in resin at some point - nothing definite yet but it might happen as before don't expect anything before the Gencon reveal at the earliest.

I have to ask since I have not had a chance to examine Zombicide up close - in what way are they considered good? I'm not being sarcastic, I honestly want to know what makes them good in people's eyes? Are the expectations more lax because it's a boardgame? Lesser moldlines? Good details? Good sculpts?

From looking at my copy the details are good (for their size; I don't think they are more than ~20-25mm, never having measured them). No real mold line issues that I saw. Flexy, but that is good for board game bits. They remind me of the nicer small Bones sculpts.

If I were playing a 20mm historical game with ~300+ models per side, I would be very happy with the level of detail. For a 28-32mm game with <100 I would be a little less thrilled, but then again for a horde of zombies I would be perfectly happy.

.... no, but I totally should!

Ok, apologies for picture quality, just snapped them quick after finding the relevant models. (And some irrelevant models.)

The odd man out there is an Alchemy model I picked up a few years back on clearance. Not a bad looking little guy, though the detail is a little shallow meaning I will have to be careful with the paint.
The Zombicide guys have some of that same problem, with individual teeth being visible (though probably not in the pics) but likely impossible to actually pick out after priming if you are not really careful.

The RBG models are obviously more awesome and detailed, but the zombies hold their own pretty well. They scale nicely with RBG models too I think, being a little taller than some, shorter than others. (The lads with the axes are big uns.) This obviously means I am going to be making up RBG characters and missions for Zombicide

Assuming I ever get to play, that is. The wife can't decide if she wants to keep it or sell it for big monies.

Sell sell sell mate... :-)

Its a genuinely fun game, but I EASILY flipped my Zombicide stuff on Ebay for a 500% profit. It covered my mini buying funds for half a year in one move.

Meanwhile the promos add so little to the game itself. I mean, you can snag a copy of the base game and functionally be set, while also reaping a huge winfall.

Heh, yea that's what we were thinking. I am not sure why my wife keeps changing her mind... not like we have lots of time for games lately.

Which one are you talking about?

Tell me which picture and which model you're talking about, and I can see if I have any spares (I have an embarrassing about of Zombicide stuff, so don't mind).

Lemme know.

No problem! (Even though I thought this was your KS thread, where it would be more topic appropriate )

I do like the somewhat smaller, true scale stuff myself though. Scale creep in models bugs me, though perhaps mainly because I grew up with 25mm Ral Partha models as normal, so I expect ity bity things.

You guys talking Zombicide has got me thinking about flipping all my Z2 promo guys. Between the base ones, the expansion, the prison, and whatever Z3 offers, I'll probably be set. Plus I'll probably be able to pay for Z3 with the promos alone.

Tempting...

Back on topic- was it ever said if this will be a skirmish game, a boardgame, some kind of mixture like Sedition Wars attempted to be... what?

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

I saw it mentioned elsewhere that it was going to be a board game (co-op good players vs single bad player) but with plans to expand to a skirmish game in the future. I have no idea where they got that information from though so could be false.

Uhh but it is being manufactured by Dust Studios though so that means McVey is only make the sculpts not producing them correct? I dont know exactly how the production process works but isnt that better news? Dust studios products good minis (from what I have).

It depends on what your expectations are. If you want to play a board game and don't intend to bother painting pieces/don't care much - you are blessed and I envy you. If you on the other hand find the sculpts amazing and want to paint up a few display pieces the material is an issue as is being discussed here http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/599178.page

In short, it's not so much the fidelity to the master sculpts, as the loss of details can reach acceptible levels if done well, but more an issue of working with the material.
In so far I have not seen any PVC figures I think are worth the hassle unless you just want them for gaming purposes.

Do you mean for basic painting/gaming as compared with display quality, or do you mean painting vs. gaming pawns, or do you mean something else entirely?

Ah. Yeah, I'd mostly agree, then. Some of the core sedition wars heroes painted up very nicely, but other than that I'd say I've never had a restic model that's worth trying to get to display level.
