I used to play 40k steady for the last 15 years... but 7th and all the yearly price increases have finally turned me away.

Recently I've been playing wild west exodus and its been a blast! (one of the newest, fastest growing games as of late) wasnt sure if i'd enjoy it but the fluff, models, quality, and gameplay are just amazing. I now play wwx several times a week.

I've also been enjoying ffg's lotr lcg, dust tactics, and zombicide... gotta love zombicide too.

I'm from the future. The future of space

I got my hands on a whole ton of articles and books about miniature wargaming from the 1960s from an estate sale. It's been fascinating to read the origins of a lot of game elements (different turn structures, dice mechanics, etc.,) we still see today.

So I'm cobbling together some historical games based on some simple early rules written by Charles Grant for Meccano Magazine in the late 60s. In the article series, he basically designs a World War II skirmish game from the ground up, over 32 articles. I'm going through the exact same process for some 19th century warfare.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

I'm getting out of 40k completely but I've started a Warmachine army (Convergence) am getting into Infinity. I sold my space marine army and got two Infinity armies. I've been falling in love with the rules and it's exactly what I wanted without knowing I did.

Also, check out my history blog: Minimum Wage Historian, a fun place to check out history that often falls between the couch cushions.

I have not played 40K since I was 13. I keep in touch with the goings on and I have painted the odd figure that I like. Just not into the large armies and high cost.

I do however play Space Hulk with my eldest Son. We have also bought some MDF terrain so we can spread out and break away from the missions. Make it more like a Kill team feel. This then links into Deadzone which I pledged to and we have played one game so far. I find that terrain great but damn fiddly to construct. I might bite the bullet and glue it together. Or just add it to the MDF set and make one hell of a game board. Need space to store that though.

On the project board is Firestorm Armada. Loved the look of the game and was alot cheaper than getting the BFG ships I was lusting after. Gutted I never bought that game. I check Ebay hoping for a bargin and one day I will not get sniped! I have the Battle for Valhalla set half painted and waiting for a free weekend to try it out. I also like the look of the Dystopian Wars mini's and I reakon that if the rules are close to Firestorm 2.0 then I could finally find a use for that Dreadfleet cloth. Lovely ships but the game did not hook me.

I live abroad currently and I am looking forward to moving back to the UK one day and going to game nights at my FLGS. I pop one once a year when I am back and buy the large Boardgames I am after but I would love to get a regular gaming night in.

Infinity is my main way.
Followed by drinking beer whilst playing infinity.

Nobody plays KoW around here and as for Deadzone - you're as likely to see tumbleweeds and dreadfleet ...

I tried X-wing but the game was too simplistic for me (and too small a scale of engagement - I started my spaceship gaming with Full Thrust, where you have carriers and battleships and wings of fighters.). I kept the falcon and slave one, but dumped the rest.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

Quite varied at the moment. LotR Battle Companies, Super Dungeon Explore, Dropzone Commander, Judge Dredd, Infinity, occasionally Firestorm Armada and Dystopian Wars/Legions. X-Wing is well enjoyed also as is Saga. There's been talk of Malifaux or Warmahordes and a few demo games, but I'm not sure they'll catch on.

We also have a few FFG Living Card Games, Mage Wars and RPGs on the go as well.

Same! I paint little dudesmen and cry. My gaming group fizzled out during the D&D next playtest, and my LGS is entrenched in 2000+ pts games of 40k.

I've been getting into Malifaux as I'm just not enjoying 40k at the moment. There seems to be a bit of momentum with Malifaux at the moment, with a group of regular players coming together at my flgs.

Warhammer Fantasy and Infinity.

Most players are into WarmaHordes around here, given that it's Privateer Press country. I've bought armies a couple of times and tried to play - just not my cup of tea.

Both varieties of Warhams but mainly Fantasy which I enjoy a lot! I paint some Infinity figures but I've never played a proper game, just tried getting my head around the rules a few times.

The only other games are X-wing and Magic the Gathering.

All good fun but I'm really keen to give Flames of War and (or) Bolt Action a go at somepoint in the future, a 15mm Armoured engagement seems really cool

X-Wing and Star Trek Attack wing mostly.

Blood Bowl might pick back up if we can get enough dedicated for a league.

Deadzone or Infinity have about an equal chance to be started right now.

Song of Blades and Heroes will likely be started once we get off our noob X-Wing binge.

I play X-Wing.

I wasn't even remotely "done" with 6th, and simply cannot summon up a shred of enthusiasm for 7th.
This could very well be the end of 20+ years of GW and I walking hand-in-hand.

I've been playing my usual medley of boardgames with friends. Just tried Manhattan and Wooly Bully which were both simple and light but full of theme.

For more serious games me and my friends will be trying to start a Star Wars Edge of the Empire RPG campaign (from FFG). Should be lots of fun since half the group have never even played an RPG. I'll be interested to see if the system captures the Star Wars feel, and how well the complicated custom dice work.

WHFB and 40k take up most of my gaming time. I do tend to take the cheap route and proxy everything while using a TON of fan-made material.

There's also this fan made Gundam wargame I'm willing to try at some point: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/594332.page

Then there's an old Axis and Allies miniature game I've had for years.

I haven't played any 40k since October.

Currently I'm going between an x-wing campaign on a Monday and either a Deadzone game or an Epic X-Wing game on a Tuesday.

I'm still wanting to play more Dropzone Commander too.
