Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce the upcoming release of two new starships for X-Wing™!
In the game’s fifth wave, two large starships arrive ready for the heat of battle: the Rebellion’s YT-2400 and the Imperial’s VT-49 Decimator.

In addition to their starships, each of which is sculpted faithfully at the game’s standard 1/270 scale, the YT-2400 Expansion Pack and VT-49 Decimator Expansion Pack introduce a host of new upgrades and terrain pieces that allow you to explore a wide range of new tactics in your space battles.

You’ll also find a large cast of characters drawn from the expanded Star Wars universe, the first Imperial turret weapon, and upgrade cards designed by the game’s first two World Champions.

YT-2400 Expansion Pack

A fast and resilient light freighter, the YT-2400 features no fewer than thirteen weapon emplacement points, making it an attractive vessel for smugglers, mercenaries, and other individuals looking for a heavily armed “transport.” Although a stock YT-2400 light freighter has plenty of space for cargo, much of that space is often annexed to support modified weapon systems and oversized engines.

The YT-2400 Expansion Pack brings this formidable light freighter to your table as a Rebel starship with two attack, two agility, five hull, and five shields.

The highlight of the YT-2400 Expansion Pack is its detailed miniature starship, which is enhanced by one new mission, three debris cloud tokens, a maneuver dial, all requisite tokens, and four ship cards, including one for the famed smuggler Dash Rendar.

Of course, a ship as readily customizable as the YT-2400 needs to come with a host of upgrade options, and the YT-2400 Expansion Pack comes with thirteen upgrade cards, including a Lando Calrissian crew upgrade, the Outrider Title, and upgrade cards designed by each of the game’s first two World Champions.

VT-49 Decimator Expansion Pack

To be granted command of a VT-49 Decimator is seen as a significant promotion for a middling officer of the Imperial Navy. A heavily armed transport, the VT-49 Decimator is one of the Empire’s most feared warships, often used to provide long-range reconnaissance or to deploy raiding parties past enemy forces.

The VT-49 Decimator Expansion Pack brings this intimidating Imperial gunboat to X-Wing as the game’s largest ship yet designed for Standard Play. Even at the game’s signature 1/270 scale, the expansion pack’s detailed miniature towers over its base and smaller starfighters.

In addition to its imposing, pre-painted miniature, the VT-49 Decimator Expansion Pack introduces four ship cards, three debris cloud tokens, a new mission, a maneuver dial, and all the tokens you need to fly your Decimator into the thick of combat. Finally, you’ll find thirteen upgrade cards, which introduce a variety of crew members like Mara Jade and Fleet Officer designed to help you fill out the Decimator’s three crew member slots.

Blast into Action

With its two high-powered new starships, multitude of upgrades, debris cloud tokens, and new missions, the fifth wave of X-Wing expansions is destined to make a massive impact when it blasts into action across gaming tables everywhere.

Wave V is scheduled to arrive late in the third quarter of 2014. Until then, keep your eyes open for more X-Wing news, including previews of these new hard-hitting expansion packs, which will look more closely at their various unique pilots, their new debris cloud tokens, and their missions!

Boom I love this !
Mara Jade is fething awesome for only 3 points!

First thoughts are that while the vt looks like a beast, it will be easy prey for those single turbolaser upgrades on the corvette. Stoked about the yt2400 - been considering making one, but now I don't have to.

Surprised there are only 2 ships. Suspect the imperial epic ships won't be far behind.

Mara jades card is quite fluffy too. Got that 'kid in a sweetie shop' feeling again!

yeah,
In Standard the decimator feels like an epic ship that's allowed to play in the little league!
In Epic I can see 2-3 of these in most imperial lists buffing the swarm!

The 4X-46pts pts decimator brings a big 16 hit points tank with a str3 primary turret!
plus all the tricks three crew and a elite pilot skill can muster.
plus torpedos and bombs if you have points left!

Panic...

Why, why! My money, so I am getting the YT-2400 for sure. I wonder how well a Han and Dash list would do?

Tell me about it... I'm already working on plans on how to smuggle 15 new small ships past her between wave 4 and rebel aces...

Still, as I keep telling her, I could be a smack head, or a gambler or something.

After spotting the 2400 on the Outmaneuver card, it was kind of expected, the Imperial ship is a surprise though, and seeing Mara, and Isard make appearances is cool. Good to see that even though the EU is being pushed aside in the novels that it can still be drawn from by FFG.

YT-2400! New Lando card!

Couldn't be more pleased (unless a huge Imp ship was announced).

I have a feeling we are only getting two ships in wave 5 because two imperial epic ships will be getting announced at Gencon. After that, I'm hoping they take a break!

I am madly, deeply in love with this game, but I've only just caught up with releases, and there is an absolute torrent of stuff coming out. Part of me is loving it, and another part of me (my wallet) is cringing.

I almost had to change my pants at work when I saw these. That would've been awkward. Thankfully, I'm single at the moment so I don't have to make excuses for my toys. But, the two girls that I have an interest in both know about the toys, and they think it's cute. So I'm golden!

I'll admit, while the Imperial Ship looks cool, I am a little worried about it just giving Imperials the ability to run a Dual-Falcon style list.

It's got the High-powered turret and sheer bulk. I guess we'll have to see after ability and maneuver dial.

EDIT: Squinting at the PS8 Decimator, it looks like "When Attacking at range 1-2, change a focus result to a crit"

So, earmark one crew slot for a gunner...

I know everyone wants the Star Destroyer, but I am personally hoping they stick with "smaller" capitol ships and do something along the lines of a Dreadnought. Either way, it'll be interesting because I don't remember any Imperial ships even from the EU that don't just dwarf the CR-90 in length.

We are probably looking at a Carrak class corvette for the Imperials or maybe a marauder cruiser even. Their fairly close in size to the corvette even.

A Dreadnought would still be 4 times the size of the Corvette.

The ones that make the most sense are the Lancer Frigate and Marauder Corvette. Both aren't too huge compared to everything else (Maurader is about the same size as the Corvette, the Lancer is the biggest but still under 300m). Even a Carrak is 350m in length, which is 230% bigger than the CR90. The model would have to be enormous and before they scale it down.

Star Wars is the Battletech of Space Combat. The ships are utilitarian, to an extent that any aesthetics are incidental. When they vary from this theory, you get stuff like the Naboo starfighters.

Fugly is much better than pretty starfighters.

Realistically, how is the Decimator any more fugly than the Millenium Falcon? Doubly so for the Outrider, which follows the same design aesthetic.

I can only imagine the weakness of the Decimator is going to be a hugely ponderous dial.

They both follow the same design aesthetic. Wookipedia mentions the VT-49 was design to look like an "evil Millennium Falcon." It's just that people sometimes confuse "ugly" with "unfamiliar."

Hey, if people can wishlist a Star Destroyer which even in it's smallest variant is 6 or 7 times the size of a Corvette I can wishlist my favorite Capital ship too.

In all seriousness though, I went with the Dreadnought also for the reason that it was the only other recognizable Capital ship for Imperials I could think of that I had seen in several sources (CCGs, video games, novels, comics) that wasn't likely to end up as a model for use by Rebels like the Nebulon B. I'm a pretty big EU fan and even I had to look up a couple of the other suggestions.

So, I've been thinking about load-outs for the Decimator, and I'm thinking

Rear Admiral
-Gunner
-Vader
-Expose
58pt

As a heavy gunship for Imperials. Basically, Expose has no drawbacks for this ship (other than cost),and unlike focus/target lock works with the gunners attack. Vader takes advantage of the ships huge Hull value to help finish a target. Just fly around, spraying with a Strength 4 turret, and convert a focus to a crit at range 1-2.

Well I'm sure you all guessed how excited I was to see this stuff. Dash Rendar and the Outrider anyway. I'm actually intrigued by the Decimator though. I imagine it will be slow and stiff on the controls. I was at Origins for the past few days but FFG wasn't there. Wizkids showed up however and had these on display...incoming
