I'm curious on what the community thinks. I started after the last one hit and I'd love a set, but at double (or more) the MSRP for used, I'm a bit miffed at paying that price. If Games Workshop put out Space Hulk again, would you buy it? With the same models as before or new ones? Maybe even an expansion for different marine and genestealer types to represent different chapters and hive fleets?

Let's assume it's at the MSRP of $100 USD with the same model count and would be the same quality, probably through Fantasy Flight.

What sort of question is this? OF COURSE!!!

Though knowing GW and knowing they know how popular it is, it'll probably cost $600 and your first born male.

Only if they make Terminators pretty, but without Blood Angels junk encrusting them. It's a pain to shave it all off the current SH models.

A variant would be cool as well, like Heresy Era terminators vs an Ork infested hulk (instead of genestealers)

I have the last version, so there would only be any point if it had cool new stuff in it.

On the basis that, if I recall correctly, the last set cost less than 2 Terminator boxes anyway so you're in 'profit' even before the Genestealers and rules, hell yes. I'd love to get my hands on the Terminators, the Genestealers would be great to paint, and the game itself could be good. If the worst comes to the worst I've got the makings of a great display and around 500 points to add to my BA army.

So if it were in the £60 region, then I'd be all over it if I had the cash.

Yes! (Ideally the old version, because I don't have it. New models... depends on the new models I suppose).

I wouldn't like a FFG version though (again, unless they just re-print the old stuff). FFG's fluff-writing is atrocious, embodying all the worst "we-take-this-gak-too-serious" that basically killed 40K 3rd to early 5th, and their obsession with turning everything into a collectible card-game is extremely annoying.

Speaking purely for myself, I already have three copies of Spulk 1, a copy of Death Wing, and a copy of Spulk 3 and I really don't need any more.

An expansion set with more maps, scenarios and floors would be welcome if well done, though I fear it would not be well done.

Spulk went downhill as GW put out more low quality add-on crap -- psychic librarians, Genestealers with guns -- and fiddled with the rules. The 3rd edition was a relatively refreshing return to the purity of 1st edition.

That said, I think GW are missing a very big trick by not having some additional lines like boxed games to exploit their extensive retail chain, and Space Hulk would be a very easy one to do because they already have all the tooling.

Priced at £50 it would be almost "pocket money" and would give "Little Johnny" an off the shelf introduction to 40K. There also must be veterans who want it judging by the prices on eBay for the limited 3rd edition set.

I got mine on ebay right after the initial release. Got it for a good price too.

I still don't understand why GW released it in that way. There was huge demand for it (I narrowly missed out on the last copy at my local shop) and yet they made only a small number of copies of it.

I remember the WD at the time even reinforcing that it would never be re-released, which makes no sense. The only people who profited from this are internet re-sellers.

I would not buy it. I own it and never got to play it. The nids I took some and used in an old mid army and the BA are still on the sprue... Guh. I had every intention on using those terminators too for something.

Equal parts "hell" and "yes" is my answer. I have a copy of the 3rd edition set, but it's still in its shrink wrap because I haven't found the time or desire to paint it. I'm painting my 1st edition set right now.

From what I recall, the cardboard tiles are what kept it from being a bigger release. The cost of producing them was too high for greater quantities, so they limited it to 70k boxes or whatever. They're really, really nice, and the whole set was a really high quality product. I wish they would've released just the models separately. Even if they charged a pretty high price for them, they'd fly off the shelves.

I'd buy it if it had new models. The actual ones are too unique to just have doubles - suddenly some of the most ornate and detailed models in the game would turn into an army of clones.

Given the fact that I'm making a Deathwing army in BA colours, I'd pay 150% the price if there would be new models in the box. All hail the Bloodwing!

I'd also not mind if the new box would be a standalone expansion with different missions so you could actually benefit from having both boxes rather than have all the same tiles again (although that'd be a killing map for small kill team games if all of the tiles could be used to make a huge map!).

Seems like, based on this small (and not statistically significant) data set, there's some interest in Space Hulk, and a good nod to a new one. Nearly 70% so... warms my heart and soul.

I hope they do it.

We have at least three of the old Space Hulk games in the group, and at least one of us has both expansions too. It's a few years since we last played it but it is a good game. I'd happily pick up a nicely priced set with both expansions and the new models (my old SH termies are missing in action).

To some degree GW do not seem to understand their customers. It was entirely predictable that Space Hulk would sell out. The original game is one of the most popular they ever published partly because it was one of the best.

Then they follow up with Dread Fleet and seem surprised that a fantasy game with crappy rules and no heritage did not do even half as well.

No doubt GW made a profit from Space Hulk though.

What I don't get is why it was limited. I would have bought one if it wasn't. I mean sculpting all those models takes a lot of time money and effort.. then to make it limited?

It was published not long after the non-miniature related board games were licensed out to FFG. My pet theory is that GW wanted to license the miniature related boardgames as well but at a cost FFG weren't interested in paying, and that Space Hulk was intended to show FFG how much money the games could make to make them rethink the option.

I would, but only if it was a different version (expansion, new edition, new models and missions, whatever) than the one I have. I've always loved Space Hulk. I'm bummed that the first copy I ever owned, which I got for my birthday as a teenager, is long lost to a fire, but I pounced all over the new one, and I even have it for the PC. It's a great game to play in a relatively short period of time.

I really miss the old games like Space Crusade, Tyranid Attack!, etc. Those are actually where some of my model collection came from. (On that note, it's likely why the new edition of Space Hulk used models that don't translate that easily over to 40K. In the prior edition, you got two squads of Terminators and, IIRC, 12 Genestealers, for $60. When the same plastic Terminators were released as a boxed set, it was cheaper to buy Space Hulk for the models.)

Have the latest version and the old 90s one so a repacking or a few new model casts wouldnt interest me.
