Hi there, thought id start a thread for Sentinel games releases since they are very shortly about to deliver on their first ks.

EDIT: THERE IS CURRENTLY NO ACTIVITY ON THE KS PAGE AND NO WORD FROM THE CREATOR, I WOULD HIGHLY ADVISE NOBODY PLACES ANY ORDERS UNTIL THE CREATOR GETS BACK IN TOUCH AND RESPONDS TO THE LENGTHY DELAY IN COMMUNICATION. AT THIS POINT WE DO JOT KNOW IF THIS COMPANY ARE STILL TRADING. UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE I WOULD STAY CLEAR.

Their main site is: http://sentinel-games.com/en/

Currently you can preorder at 20% discount on final retail price.

Newly added are the Genociders and Spetsnaz which missed out on been funded during the ks but will be released anyway.

Each Genocider squad includes 3 miniatures (with an extra special weapon) and textured bases

Each Spetsnaz squad includes 9 miniatures and textured bases. The final design of this squad will include one sniper, one machinegunner, one soldier with RPG and 6 with assault rifles.

I'd hoped that the Spetznaz would get funded during the Kickstarter. Glad to see them producing them anyway. There's free shipping for KS backers right now, too. So, I went ahead and got some of them.

From their last update, they said they're expecting to begin delivery probably in late July or so.

Oh, perfect. In that case, gonna have to look into getting some of those troops. Their designs are excellent, and those casts look solid, too.

That VTOL is like they mashed up the jumper things from HALO with a Hind. And I have to say I approve.

Wasn't that KS just a few months ago?

What the hell? Couldn't they have contracted through WGF and been late like everyone else?

Well they are looking to be a month late if that helps it was the free textured bases that they threw in to pledges post ks that have made it drag a bit.

Im really looking forward to these kits, plus I can still add on till the 6th july, so may be tempted by some more goodies

The tank is cool, but it's fairly small, right? Like to small too really be manned?

Is there a good scale shot of it somewhere?

The T94 tank is 140mm or 5.5 inches long.

Heres some basic scale shots from the ks of the glorions, their pretty large

The figure above is the one on the right

The base on the biotank on the left is 100mm.

oh and theres these other tank variants

I think it looks big enough to be manned looking at the scale of the troopers on the grid and the size of the hull on the same grid.

This project makes me very happy. I didn't pledge, but as I remember they worked really hard to get pledges, and look who seems pretty close to actually delivering!

Miniatures look really nice for this, and I'm a sucker for a nice looking rulebook with cool looking artwork.

Also, wondering whether that tank would be right for scenario play for Infinity.. hmmm..

That ZSU one would be a really cool objective... bring it down so you can use AD troops!

How are the rules?

From the ks page

Total Extinction provides a quick game system that allows exciting battles to be played with a variable number of miniatures – from 3-4 units (less than 20 miniatures per each player) to 15 or more units (more than 60 miniatures per player).

A game is divided into turns (usually 6) where players alternately activate their units starting with the one who gets the initiative, which is determined by a dice roll of the Army Commander.

The game system is highly intuitive: there is no need for consulting the Rulebook all the time to find out how to solve every situation. Besides, each unit is provided with a card where all the relevant data appears: defense, movement, weaponry, damage, etc.

The combat is resolved by rolling twice a die: first we roll for attack against the enemy’s defense to check whether we have hit the target. Then we roll our damage against the enemy's armor to check whether we have damaged or destroyed our target.

To determine the ability and power of a unit or its weaponry we have chosen a system based on multiple types of dice: the more sides a dice has, the more probable the success is. Thus, we roll a D6 (a dice of 6 sides) to cause damage with an assault rifle AR9 of the Colonial Army. Meanwhile we roll a D10 (a dice of 10 sides) to cause damage with a Glorlon Neural Disruptor as it is much more powerful.

This system of different dice allows us to carry out rolls of weapons with different power, or rolls of abilities with different values all together: this way we can roll for damage with assault rifles (D6) and RPG (D12) all at the the same time, and the result will be easily find out by comparing the dice to the armour of the target.

In Total Extinction the Commanders are not just “the best soldiers of the army”. Actually, sometimes they are not especially good with weapons. Their function in the battle is to lead their troops towards victory. To show that Commanders have a range of special abilities they can use Tactical Cards.

Theres a gameplay video on the ks page, its in a video format that I can't seem to get to link here so I cant put it up.

Edit:

Heres a production sample video tho:

Seriously though, the creator went off grid, came back very briefly to give us hope, then went off grid again. I hate to say it, but I think this one is a bust.

I too am disappointed, especially since I spent a decent amount on it. I had hoped that they would continue their concept with another KS for other races and flyers. I highly doubt that now.

The last kickstarter update was from the 2nd of December 2014, which really isn't that long ago, in kickstarter communication terms.

Hi!

At last we have all the material ready to print!

Theoretically cards, templates and counters will be printed in 15 days. We are making these components in China (the minis are made in the EU), so we have to count a few weeks to arrive to Spain and to finish the boxes.

We fully undertand that all of you are very patient and in the future we will try to maintain you better informed. Besides we will do our best to make the waiting bearable with a free "print and play" that we are preparing to launch before Christmas.

This has really bothered me. I put in a fair bit of money on this one too. Ir's sort of like what happened with Rangers' Project. I really would appreciate it if this one actually delivers.

It seems like there was a whole "generation" of Kickstarters that all funded around the same time and just sort of died.

Has anyone heard from the 6mm is lately? How about PDC games? I think Imbrian Arts was around the same time period, too.

PDC at least delivered. Actually, I don't recall having much in the way of issues with them. But this one and Rangers' Project really burned me with the whole Kickstarter thing. I've since been a lot more limited in what Kickstarters I back. I think from now on, I'm only backing Kickstarters from groups that actually have a record of delivering.

Yes but that was on top of no comms for a long time, it was also nearly 2 months ago.
Free print and play ready to launch before Christmas: didnt happen.
I don't think that "oh its KS comms though" should ever be an excuse. KS comms ARE terrible in general but that doesnt get anyone a pass. Everyone should be communicating regularly with their backers. Every week, no, but every couple of weeks would be nice. Its hardly a chore to log in and post "Quick update: heres where we're at from last time, ABC is on time, XYZ is behind but we're still on schedule"
A 2 minute job would save a LOT of moaning and bad feeling.

Which is a shame because it defeats the purpose of sites like KS which is to give people who dont have access to traditional revenue streams the chance to bring an item into reality that might never have had the chance otherwise. This is abused to bejesus by the likes of Mantic and Reaper et al, but that doesnt detract from the fact that dishonest KS (Ice Age Mammals) , badly run (Games and Gears Battleboards) or sometimes just unlucky (possibly this one) KS are obviously having an impact on peoples willingness to take a chance. And thats what KS is most of the time, taking a chance. I've complained a lot about this one but its money I could afford to lose, otherwise I wouldnt have ever used KS in the first place, Id have waited until retail.
What am I actually saying here: I have no idea. Possibly that you shouldnt let a few bad eggs ruin it for you and for a potential KS project by someone with no track record that turns out to be sliced bread 2.0. Maybe.

Obviously if you take a chance, there is always the possibility of getting burned. People assume Kickstarters are like pre-orders, but you should always assume there's a not-insignificant chance that your money just went down the drain. Don't pledge if you're not willing to take that risk. People are (sadly) learning that now :(

I'm well aware of what KS is meant for and that there's risks. This and Ranger's Project aren't the only ones I got royally burned on. These two though were very far along and seemingly ready to deliver when all of a sudden, the creators just vanished. At least the guy doing Ranger's Project eventually showed back up, but that was after a visit by the police due to his complete disappearance from society. Sentinel should have had at least one other person who could provide some kind of updates when the creator got hospitalized.

I'm really disappointed with how this has all turned out so far, the lack of communication from Salvador does not bode well for fulfillment.

I feel pretty bad for promoting the ks and the pre orders so much here. I helped out offering some advice for the ks launch, even offering to be the uk rep for the project, in the end I did the voice over for the gameplay video so they had a natural english speaker. I hate to think people pledged or preordered due to this thread, and just hope we get to hear something soon, one way or another.

We know that some of the figures have been manufactured, the warmill scenery has been delivered to Salavador and according to the latest update the rules are being printed in china. A lot of stuff has been completed or in progress so hopefully something sould come of this.

Im certain that you were, I did not mean to imply thy did not. I merely meant that some of these fly by nights will put off people who were either already risk averse or whom they had burned, like thyself.

yeah i pushed it pretty hard at my club, luckily only one guy jumped on so I dont feel TOO bad. You should be ashamed however

We're not hugely behind in Kickstarter terms, but again thats really a poor excuse. Its 50:50 at this point.
