Ok, I've got a number of battle reports coming up. I took a "business trip" down to SoCal. Well, it ended up that I actually did more 40K than work. Lol.

In any case, let me know which reports you want to see first.

Game #1 - 2K Blood Angels vs Panzer1944's Astra Militarum

This is actually one of my older reports that I never really had the chance to complete (due to my Adepticon battle reports taking up all of my writing time and then 7th coming out). This game marked a few milestones. It was my very last game of 6th Edition. It was the very first time I played against the new Astra Militarum. It was also the very first time I've played my Blood Angels in almost 2 editions (since the BA codex last came out).

2K Blood Angels (My list)

Game #3 - 1750 Fun-crons vs Desubot's Astra Militarum/Space Marines

My first time ever playing against Desubot. I decided not to go too competitive for our first game....and then my opponent gets both Invisibility and Gate of Infinity for his deathstar AM blob squad. Yeesh.

Game #5 - 1850 Competitive Necrons vs Brothererekose's Seer Council Mechdar

Ok, no more fun and games. Time to get serious. This was practice game using potential tournament lists for the BAO.

BTW, my opponent got both Invisibility and Fortune for his deathstar.

Game #6 - 1850 AV13-spam Necrons vs Commander_Farsight's Tau/Tau

Another competitive practice game for the BAO. This time, I switched it up and tried something a little different. My opponent brought out something different as well....and it turned out that his army naturally countered mine. I am not looking forwards to facing all those fusion guns with my vehicle-spam Necron army.

Game #7 - 2K Double-CAD Necrons vs Mortetvie's Eldar

Mortetvie is a very good Eldar player and veteran. In a ways, this game is a rematch between 2 GT winners. We actually both won the Golden Throne GT. I took it 2 years ago (the tournament's very 1st year) and Mortetvie took it last year (the tournament's 2nd and last year), though I couldn't make it there that year. So this was a game that could have been had the GTGT took place this year.

BTW, we played with the new BAO rules. Also, this was the very 3rd opponent in a row who got Invisibility against me.

Just to correct the army list in game#7:

It was:

-Baharoth
-Jetseer, helm (auto-pass Los), crystal (heal wound on wraithknight on 3+)
-2x spiritseers
-9 wraithblades W/Serpent, holofields
-2x 5 Dires in serpents, holofields
-2x3 bikes w/warlocks

Baharoth and bikes was my 2nd cad while Farseer and spiritseer with rest of army was the first (iyanden lets you take 1-5 spiritseers per hq slot).

Was a great game and looking forward to the batle reports being posted .

Drop some non Seer Council Eldar battlereports.
Those are the games that I hope to possibly learn something new from. Am Eldar player myself but I'm not willing to start a Jetseerstar and most of your battle reports involving Eldar in 6ed were including this deathstar.

And thanks for the game. Always a tough and competitive game when we play.

Haha! Thanks for the game, Chris. You kind of caught me by surprise with how good the blob squad can be, especially with the right psychic powers. That teleporting, invisible unit was tough!

Then you'd definitely want to see my battles against Mortetvie. You can really learn a lot from his play.

1. It was. The new AM are good!

6. Lol. Just a little background on our game. My opponent was on a 15-game winning streak with his Farsight list, though that was all in 6E. This would actually be his first 7E game with them, and it would turn out to be quite a bloody battle. Let's just say the dice wasn't really on my side for this game and anything his deathstar even looked at, blew up.

It's looking like people are wanting to see me beat up on some Tau before Eldar. Lol. Or maybe they want to see me teach the Seer Council a lesson. Haha. Or maybe they just want to see my crons get their arses handed to them by the upstart Space Communists and some Space Elves.

In any case, vote soon. The 1st battle shall begin tonight!

Go feth your self. It wasn't all that bad, just a couple of mistakes, one of which pared with jy2's maelstrom objective rolling probably cost me the game. But you can shut your arce.

Nothing against you and tau in general, but a mech spam necron army just seems mean to me.

Anyone he played with that list I did not expect it to go well for the other side.

Thanks for the clarification, I thought it was a direct reflection on my skill and army. Will be removing the comment. To be honest, you do have a point though. If you check out my list, it was a pretty damn hard counter so I feel like I should have done better. Besides the fact that its Jim, I would even go to say that list compared to list, it would have been quite hard for me to screw up so bad with all that melta.

You tell 'em! (C'mon Jim, why do you have to be so good?)

What went into your decision to bring such a high volume of Fusion? I've never seen so many in a Tau list before.

@Faceless
All good, glad we cleared it up :thumbsup

So I decided to take so much fusion for a couple of key reasons. I have been closely flowing jy2s batreps and was noticing how annoying it was to go up against those chariots. I knew it would be a problem. I also decided that I would need that many due to my lack of AA. If I wanted to take down his flyers, it would take a turn or 2 of snap shooting from the Fbomb, so to maximize that, take meltas. I was also testing out how the Kroot on the comms relay worked. I thought that if I can bring in most if not all of my army, I can have a great turn 2. Clear as much as I can, and then have stuff that really won't hurt my core army as much.

I was then going to use my manuverability to hop onto objectives. So to answer your question more directly, I felt like going up against Necrons I would need it, and the fact that Jim is such a better player than I am, I would need to somewhat devastate his army, even while there was Quantam Shielding up. The intent was not to just counter his list, but I wanted to try it out and see how balanced or not it was, so I can go back and change it up so it is better balanced as crisis suits can be outfitted in so many different ways.

Here is a question I have for the community, as you will see in the batrep, my Riptide did nothing, almost literally. So, with that in mind, I cut it all together for more crisis suits. I have been advised to keep it so my Kroot don't get killed by drop pods and things of the like, so therefore I don't get tabled. When you think about this it makes sense, but it was 190 points out the window. IMO, in a tournament that's really risky to have 190 points that can be so hit or miss. What do you guys think? Iontide with interceptor yes or no?

I’m a little biased on my vote, but hey it was you last game of 6th so can tag it as the last game in the 6th Edition thread to finish it up

Also it was the last time my army was seen on a table as the next day they disappeared into the warp (aka. stolen out of my car) so would like to see their last hooray one more time.

Commander, I have always felt that more drones and some Marker lights go a long way. The drones can soak up hits and spread out footprint to grab objectives while if any of them are marker drones they will greatly increase utility of other units.

For example, just getting 2 marker hits negates a Jink save or greatly increases accuracy. Riptides are nothing without Marker Support in 7th (IMO).

So with all of that said, a few suits with Marker drones could go a long way for your army as a Skyray might as well (and help with anti-flyers).

That is just terrible. My condolences.

I'll reinforce what Mortetvie is saying. The only force multiplier you have in your army is the BuffCommander. I would strongly suggest getting some form of markerlight Support in that army. Even adding Markerdrones to the Command Squad and making sure all 7 suits have Target Locks would be good. Its Ablative Wounds for LOS attempts from your BuffCommander who should be packing Iridium, a Shield Generator, and FNP to keep that Bomb alive. Riptides need to be supported to flourish, otherwise an IA Riptide is only going to be resilient and will have lackluster damage output.

Obviously for games that aren't against Jim, you'll want a more diverse loadout. All fusion is well and good until you run into any other army.

Obviously your list is severely lacking in AA, I'd recommend an ECPA HBC Riptide with Fusion and a VT to help shore up that weakness.

Good to know!

I want a rematch too!! This time I WILL kick your Necrons to the dust! Same lists rematch?
@thread

All CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is welcome, I would appreciate all the help.

Thanks for the list correction. Will update the list above.

Rematch could be same or slightly different list. I am still experimenting with Crons in the new edition and would like to try different stuff out.

BTW, you might want to consider redesigning your list slightly. Your list currently matches up well against my AV13 Necrons, but you are going to find it works much, much differently against something like my Wraithwing Necrons. A good tournament Take-All-Comer's list needs to be very well rounded so that it can handle any threat thrown at it.

It is true what Zagman and others have said. A riptide works best if it is buffed up by other units. That was why they were so crazy effective in the last edition. Between markerlights, the Buffmander and farseer allies to act as force-multipliers, a good unit became really great.

However, there IS a role for them in your army. Right now, your current weakness is anti-air. Well, your riptide is your solution as he is one of the best AA units in the game. You've already got a lot of AP2 shooting with a bajillion meltas shots. Swap out the Ion with HBC and give him Skyfire/Interceptor and now your problem with AA is solved.

Also, another problem with him in your list is that you didn't really know how to use him well. If it was me, instead of hanging him back in/near your deployment zone, I would have pushed him up aggressively into my deployment zone. This way, you can threaten any of my reserves (i.e. troops) that came in.

Jim is such a tease. Looks like our "big" game will be 3rd in line but you should disregard the poll and do our game first anyway-after all, I did feed you and all .

J/k, other games should be interesting as well! Will be fun to see how necrons deal with the other armies out there.

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

I would like to see a batrep vs an Eldar army. We are going to see a ton of them at the BAO and most people think they are one of the best armies of 7th edition.

That Tau army is not a very good take-all-comers and will not be seen at tournaments.

Quoted for truth and to get this darn thread to page 2 already (or closer to page 2 anyway). In all seriousness, I think seer counsel/beast star will be very strong armies but interestingly enough, the AV 13 chariots really do make for a good speed bump. If players did not have a choice to either attack chariot or rider in CC, I think chariots would be so utterly broken! Being able to hit the rider in CC, even though the rider is a T5 2+/3++ model, doesn't completely take the bite out of a seer counsel or beast star.

I know in my game against Jim I forgot I could target the rider for the longest time!
