Philly/Wash game is looking more like Blood Bowl. 6 players out, 4 to injuries, 2 ejections.

Chance, DUDE... even your bench did bad. I cannot believe Jones is your only double digit.

Of all the races of the universe the Squats have the longest memories and the shortest tempers. They are uncouth, unpredictably violent, and frequently drunk. Overall, I'm glad they're on our side!

I snagged Cousins in 2 leagues ... started him in neither. 27.5 in one league - 60 in the high performance league!

Ugh.

So, it looks as though I had the wrong defense in for my non-Dakka league... STL put up 21 points to BUFs 14 for me.

Ohh well, it would appear to not matter all that much.

I don't like the call on the Foles hit...

...but given the aftermath it was probably necessary. I mean, you can see the ball carrier (Breeland, 26) in the same frame, so it seems like a clean block on a fire play.

Got to keep your head on a swivel as the QB....

I mean, it was a *legal* hit in my opinion.

Chest high, head up, lead with the shoulder.

He was moving to intercept the ball carrier, even if he was jogging and the play nearly over....the intent was still there.

I destroy my enemies when I make them my friends.

Three!! Three successful trades! Ah ah ah!

I agree, though I'm glad he wasn't hurt.

The ejection is a bit of overkill for sure... give Baker a personal foul if you want to prove a point.

Seems like it was only a little bruising, and I actually like their depth at tackle at the moment.

Anyway, this game was vastly more entertaining than the Superb Owl, and I really think there's so little separating them that it's going to come down to the wire once more if Seattle and Denver meet again in February. Denver's defense made a stand, then Seattle's defense made a stand, then Denver's offense drove down the field like an unstoppable juggernaut, then Seattle's defense drove down the field like an unstoppable juggernaut. Brilliant game, got my heart racing and my jersey stripped off in excitement.

Seems like it was "only" a sprain/strain of the arm/shoulder area, as they taped it up and he went back in.

That game was too close for my comfort though... But it just goes to show how a fluke INT, and a great defensive series can really change the entire flow of a game.

Also... Seems like I was smart to bench the SEA Defense this week, as of the most current tally (barring any statistical corrections), the Eagles D outscored Seattle by 1 for the Dakka league

Man, watching that 4th quarter comeback by Denver really stressed me out. Glad to see the Hawks put it in the bag in OT but a little disappointed that it had to come to that, what with their lead at halftime.

Seattle needs to shape up. 17 points for Denver in one quarter is bad.

Dude...its Denver.

Its Manning.

They have SO MANY offensive weapons that even as a diehard Seattle fan I think holding them to 17 was a victory un and of itself. That team can explode on anybody at anytime...

I think we got a little lucky...they definitely stepped upand made a lot of improvement this off season.

Ooohhh....ouch....

Just saw Ike Taylor's forearm get crushed by his teammate flying in to assist with a tackle.

Could see it "flex" and look a bit..err..a lot...rubbery.

Poor guy.

On the Foles hit....
NFL Rulebook, Rule 12, Section 2, Article 9. There is no debate to be had here. Nick Foles is a quarterback. There was a change in position (that would later be overturned). By strict definition alone, Foles was a player in a defenseless posture.
NFL Rule book Link

Article 9 It is a foul if a player initiates unnecessary contact against a player who is in a defenseless
posture.....
(7) A quarterback at any time after a change of possession.

The question then becomes whether or not the contact was necessary. In my view it was.

I didn't think it was a dirty hit the first time I watched it. The second time, from a wider angle, it was pretty clear that:
a) Foles wasn't actively attempting to get to the play
b) the hit was late in the play
c) the hit was pretty brutal

Anyone notice Drew Brees get all pissy about getting hit yesterday? I bet Brett Favre is laughing his ass off somewhere.

Sorry mate, but just because a hit is brutal doesn't make it automatically bad... I know Roger Goodell is trying to turn the NFL into the NFFL by making EVERYTHING softer, but this is still football. Hard hits are part of the game.

Now the hit on the Cardinals' QB, while he was sliding was both brutal AND illegal... the more important thing there, was that it was already illegal. It wasn't penalized because it was a brutal hit. It was penalized because a defensive player struck a "defenseless" player, as in he was sliding and therefore giving himself up on the play, and as such cannot be touched. At the same time though, I can't recall how many times I've seen a player slide, be hit pretty hard and NOT draw a penalty, simply because the defensive player "couldn't alter his path" which is total BS, given the many more times you see a QB slide and NOT get hit due to players leaping over him, or dodging around, etc.

He was in what is called the cutback, or bounce, lane.

Such an eloquent argument for, you know, anything.

I agree, brutal != bad. And I see a lot of brutal hits that are flagged that shouldn't be (especially in the secondary, but that's a different story). But brutal, late and unnecessary - plus a quarterback - all combine to make it a penalty. I didn't think it was, say, ejection worthy (or brawl worthy), but it was certainly was flag worthy.

I'm not convinced, particularly given that 89 pulls up in order to, presumably, leverage the QB shield.

That was such a good play. Interception, return for 50 or so yards, atomize an oblivious Wes Welker in the process.

Probably offset by the reversed turnover.
