Well, mostly Empire. Though High Elves are making a resurgence.

I was surprised with how many play Skaven. For some reason, I was under the illusion that Skaven were a unpopular army that not many wanted to play. I guess this cleared my misconception.

Now I might be biased here since my only army is skaven but I think that the number of skaven armies is understandable. It may be a big horde army and requires a lot of models to paint and money but it does come in island of blood and is considered the easiest and cheapest way to start skaven. Most skaven players have 3 or 4 boxes of island of blood (myself included). So when people start they probably looked at island of blood first and said "okay I get the rulebook and two armies" then they stuck with one of the two if they got the set

That makes sense. In hindsight, that should have been obvious in the beginning, haha.

Just Bretonnia. Had High Elves but I had to sell them to pay some bills when some things came up.

I'm just starting out, and after doing some research into the strengths and weaknesses of the various armies I decided to go with High Elves. They seem well balanced and open to many different possibilities, so I figured they'd be an easy place to start.

I'm currently painting up the HE half of the IoB box set, but once I get them fielded and get some practice and familiarity with the game, I'll probably start collecting another army with a different play style (in addition to expanding the HE army), so I can give myself a change from HE and so I can have an army available to teach others how to play the game.

I no longer have any Fantasy armies because the prices and wide variables in attention received by each army from Games Workshop were too annoying 4 me, but I used to have a Skaven collection.

Well, I've just started Fantasy, but I have some Wood Elves from a long time ago (just the Battleforce and some Heroes) and the Island of BLood Skaven.

But they shall grow, oh yes, they shall grow.

Where is the Chaos dwarf choice?

Lizardmen and daemons. Thought I would get the two eternal enemies of each other

Bretionnians and Tomb Kings, got like 4 models for TK, but I have a small force of Brets, ~2000 points I believe

I have small numbers of Empire, High Elves, Orks and Goblins and Bretonnians that I am considering trading in for some Wood Elves. I have not played Fantasy for about 5-6 years though so I might just work on my Skaven some more.

Woops. Need to update my answer. Add High Elves, Wood Elves, and Empire to the list.

6000 points in Goblins/Night Goblins
2500 points in Dark Elves
2250 points in Beastmen
1500 points in Tzeentch Daemons (still need a LoC)
1000 points in Empire


Currently going goblin-mad....again... and bringing it up to around 7500 by the end of the summer.

I had 5 at one time, but i've cut back to just HE.

... kind of a bummer that not too long ago i had TK and VC, and only recently got rid of them. Sorta regretting that now.

Well, it use to be about 4000 pts worth of Dogs of War some time ago, but it has been split into armies for Empire (w/ Halflings), Dwarves and Ogres.

10 Empire Greatswords with a full command, they'll be bumped up to 12 as soon as the GS legs I ordered arrive.

A single Bretonnian lord on foot.

WoC player here. 1k consisting of 36 warriors, 10 chaos hounds, a Chaos Sorceror and a Lord.

Voted for what I have the books for (this edition or a previous one) and some models to go with:

Orcs & goblins: current book, more models that I dare count, good 3k5 painted, at least the same again in plain orcs and various goblins unpainted
Skaven: current book, probably 2k usable now, with a further 1k or so unasssmbled and waiting
Bretonnia: current book (so old its on parchment), 3k5 of models, probably another two lances of knights to paint
High Elves: previous book, about 2k of models, some ten or so painted (project for next year)
Vampire Counts: current book, various mantic models, not a usable army at present, bought to use as allies in a campaign
Daemons of Chaos: current book, my wifes army, mostly in boxes and bits

Don't have the book but could probably do a no magic empire army using a Pike & Shotte army as well

Have the previous Lizardmen army book and dwarven army book but no models for either (wifey wanted lizards but never got round to them, I sold my dwarves for more goblins)

Not buying more armies for warhammer, but will continue to tinker with the ones I have, rodents especially as I like the models

I have:

many Skaven - hell, more than I can even begin to count. Im still yet to paint them all but im getting through them slowly...

My older Brothers old Brettonians. Many knights, and lots of old characters.

The startings of a HE army (The 2 playerbox contents plus 25 spears and 25 archers and a dismounted lord [for when the chickencat gets shot down])

An amalglam of Dwarfs, consisting of the BFSP dwarf contigent, some old warriors and 10 extra thunder's as well as an extra lord, cannon and some champions from the old Warhammer Quest game.

Somewhere within the house there is also a very old Lizardmen army and the Green knight.

Daemons (4k-ish) / Lizards (4.5-ish) / Empire (1k-ish) / Wood Elves (1.5-ish)

Daemons were my first army as the book was given to me and that reduced my introduction cost. I loved playing them and collected about 4k points across Khorne, Slaanesh, and Tzeentch. Stopped playing them regularly with the new book because I was not a fan of the inability to plan due to gifts being rolled for, winds of magic randomness (although when they FAQ'd saying that it is players armies and opponents units, I peed a little), and tzeentch nose diving while nurgle became amazing. The last part was just a ton more money I was going to have to shell out to reliably field an army.

I then got into Lizardmen as my primary army because I liked the look of the models and lore. I've since gotten 4.5k points and have all of the monsters sitting in boxes waiting in my "pile of shame" waiting to be painted.

Empire models were given to me by a friend who was unable to play due to life changes (i.e. dang kid) but seems like it might be fun to paint actual regiments of similar clothed knights rather than the rainbow of colors I can play with in DoC and Lizards.

Wood Elves were bought initially for my wife but she has no intent to play until I paint them as well as I have my lizards. Fat chance, that gak takes time for an army this is not my primary choice. I look forward to fielding the army at some point to play a different style of army though.

Out of curiosity, which one of those armies do you like the most?

only have
Chaos Dwarves

Difficult - I love Skaven just beacuse everything about them is great -especially the fluff - as you can tell Elves are a bit of a thing for me.

I only collect models I like so I don't really have proper armies - although I did buy a lovely painted and reasonably size Empire army so that closest.

I forgot that I also have very large Vampire Counts and Tomb King Armies - about 4000pts each or so

I love warhammer world and some of the models and thats really why I collect - plus I use them in RPGs, for help in writing, pushing around the room making noises
