The CG seems a tiny bit more glossy than The Clone Wars (in a bad way; it looks a bit like plastic) but other than that I'm really looking forwards to this; The Clone Wars was awesome, and the gap between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope hasn't really been covered much, so I'm excited

I wasn't convinced...

Now I am. This looks pretty damn good actually, and although the animation doesn't look quite as polished as Clone Wars in places (I'm guessing parts of it aren't quite done yet).

Also, seeing Storm Troopers again was probably more awesome than it probably should be (although I find the lack of Vader... disturbing ). Bring it on, I say!

Looks like it could be pretty fun. Hopefully it'll be as good as the Clone Wars series. I'm really interested on how the Mando will work into the series. Definitely color me interested.

*I'll agree that the animation looks too clean. But you never know, it might get updated, or suit the series well.

If Darth Vader doesn't pop up, at least in the background, at some point I'll be quite annoyed.

I'm sure Vader will turn up at some point, they'd be frankly stupid not to.

Anyone want to place bets that this will be better than Episode VII?

I think that part of the issue with the animation is that with The Clone Wars the way they put in texture was the equivalent of painting onto the surfaces, like in this image:
Spoiler:

and it strikes me that while they're doing that in the trailer, ffor some reason everyone's hair is kinda shiny; which just looks unnatural. (the best example is probably when Ezra first sees the star destroyer appearing, and you get a close up of the back of his head)

I'm guessing the shinyness comes from not-quite-finished animation? I can't see them taking steps backwards after how good Clone Wars got in the last 3 series.

Well when you have to build a new character and sets from scratch you have to literally build everything again.

Once they got Anakin's main "prop" completed they could reuse it over and over again.

Now they've had to build everything up from scratch again, there won't be a ton they can reuse aside from a few minor set pieces.

Even if they use the same engine, you still need to redesign everything from the ground up. It will just be a little faster if they do use the same engine.

Our GM for our Edge of the Empire game has actually tossed in a few easter eggs for us in our campaign.

Our little Astromech Droid is the same Chopper that is in Rebels. We are also flying a VCX-100 like they are(but its definitely not the same ship)

We still haven't given Chopper his freedom, we bought him from a Junk Dealer on Tatooine(which wasn't part of the GMs master plan) and still haven't made good on our promise to remove the restraining bolt and set him free.

Another thought: At 1:07ish, the Stormtroopers STILL can't hit anything. 1 Jedi, walking towards them in the open, and not a single shot goes near him!

Strong, the plot armour is...

I actually attribute it to a failure of weapon technology.

Blasters have horrible accuracy in general, they rapidly lose accuracy over 50 yards, and the E-11 is known to have some design flaws.

Basically, Star Wars has gone down a path where weapon power is desired over accuracy. Blaster technology is far inferior to solid projectiles in terms of accuracy and distance.

I feel like I'm the only person in the world not excited for this show.

It probably has more to do with my general dislike of CGI animation shows than anything else. TF Prime really only won me over thanks to Steve Blum's Starscream(best Starscream ever, and yes, I include Latta's original) and the silent sentinel that was Soundwave.

Do we know the name for the Jedi yet? Because he looks a lot like Rahm Kota from The Force Unleashed.

I don't know if I would say I am excited, but I am cautiously optimistic. I heard the CGI Tron show looked good and was CGI.

Do you need to watch the Clone Wars toons to be up to date with this show?

The Tron series was awesome, I hope they do a second season at some point.

This looks pretty good, the texturing isn't quite as good as what Clone Wars had going on, but even Clone Wars showed a marked progression of better quality with each additional season. In the first season a lot of the enviroments were fairly low on detail but as the library of models and textures grew with each season it got much better.

If it the same group handling the new show I find it a bit of a backwards step in terms of quality (although not too bad) as they should be able to recycle many of the environmental stuff at least.

Looking forwards to seeing how it develops although I do agree that the models look a bit too smooth and shiny for my tastes.

Though it would be nice to see a certain female Togrutan that left the Jedi Order make an appearance in the show.

No, but why wouldn't you want to watch Clone Wars? Especially in the last three seasons, there's some very, very good stuff.

Except season 6 which forces us to conclude the Jedi were too stupid to put very obvious clues together that completely unraveled Palpatine's plan

Not being a Netflix user, and with no DVD release in sight, I kind of forget series 6 exists, to be honest. Series 5 ends well enough that I can almost believe it's a conclusion. Series 4 and 5 are solid all the way through, especially once the Deathwatch/Maul/Mandalore arc starts.

The Padding Continues...

This stuff is just too closely tied to the prequels to ever be good. There's no way they won't drag some Clone Wars characters into this.

Most of the voice actors sounds pretty bad, with one or two exceptions. I hope Vader stays away from this, although at this point his character is pretty lame so continue to ruin away.

Seriously? It's remotely connected to the prequels (because it takes place after one of them? Because it's animated like The Clone Wars? Because it's Star Wars? I'm not really seeing a connection) and therefore it's bad?

The animation didn't look bad to me at all really, though I'm a bit disappointed in yet another Jedi kid with strong force portential.

Surely it takes place after all of the prequels and I think "remotely" is stretching the definition of the word.

I don't have a massive problem with the animation style. It wouldn't stop me from watching it if there was an interesting story to tell.

Midi-chlorians, Boba Fett being a stupid wee clone boy, Anakin Skywalker being a horrible whiny bitch from the beginning, the convoluted overthrow of the Jedi Order and Republic, a horrible romance that is sadly central to the plot and some incredibly stupid villains, Order 66 and The Clones themselves.

Unless Disney are just taking the information from the Original Trilogy and working backwards everything in this show has that garbage in its background.

The Original Trilogy takes place after the prequels, as does the new trilogy.

Have you ever actually watched Clone Wars? Because Midichlorians are never mentioned at all in the series, Boba has a rather interesting arc in which you see the start of his journey to becoming the galaxy's most badass bounty hunter, Anakin's character is leagues better than he ever was in the films, his relationship with Padme is the focus of about 4 episodes out of over 100. The Clones grow to become characters in their own right, there are some amazing villains both new and old, Order 66 has nothing to do with it (except maybe in series 6).

Seems like you're making a lot of assumptions, without actually having anything to base that on beyond blanket statements and films that are, as said above, only connected to this by being in the same setting.
