Completely agree with Paradigm. The show is miles ahead of the prequel trilogy, and to be honest...it was hard to believe it was considered a "kid's show" at some points. Attempted genocide, slave trade, even a sociopathic Jedi. It's fantastic show, and I haven't met someone who didn't like it.
I will admit, the first season and the first half of the second season are...alright, but after that it really picks up. By season four, it's pretty intense most of the time.
That's kind of my point. Everything before "A New Hope" is forever tainted with the prequels. The Clone Wars exists to serve a gap in the prequel Trilogy which makes sense. All credit to it for that. I'm sure it does it well if you're into that, which I'm not. I kind of like being able to keep the original trilogy away from the terrible choices made decades later. The originals aren't perfect (with the exception of Empire) but they are a damned sight better than what came after them. The attempts to save the stupid decisions made in the prequels just further cements them and sadly reduces the chances of them ever being undone.
Apparently this new show is set 5 years before "A New Hope" which is pretty stupid. We don't need to know what happens just before "A New Hope" as we get told that in the opening credits. The stealing of the Death Star plans is the Rebels first victory against the Empire.
They are also undercutting Vader with the introduction of the (admitedly cool looking, if not redundant) Inquisitor. Vader is the Inquisitor, why else would he be tracking down Leia in "A New Hope". I also find it hard to believe that Vader hadn't tracked down and destroyed the remaining Jedi 15 years after he put on the suit.

Out of interest, what would you rather see? There's nothing to cover between I and II, II and III has already been done, and the OT doesn't leave much room for manoeuvre.
Personally, I still have a dream that one day, somehow, we'll get to see the Old Republic on screen, but I think Rebels is going to be good and isn't unnecessary.

Nope, this is an entirely new story, characters, etc.
Though it would be nice to see a certain female Togrutan that left the Jedi Order make an appearance in the show.

I'm fairly certain that Ashoka will make an appearance, and possibly be a tertiary recurring character.

The "rebels" were hardly a homogenous group.
Stealing the plans was their first major victory, but that doesn't mean there wasn't any resistance to speak of before that. There could have been plenty of minor victories, and some losses, prior to stealing the plans.
Did you ever play Empire at War? The Death Star plans don't show up till way down the campaign.

Yay! The absence of Ashoka in season 6 was upsetting, so getting more of her in Rebels is always a good thing also glad to see that she looks almost identical to her vision of herself from the cave on Mortis

Because the Galaxy is a huge fething place and a single man can't be all over it at once?
Though the movies don't highlight this, the Star Wars galaxy is very similar to the 40K Galaxy in size and scope. The Empire is as big as the Imperium, and at any one time there are probably hundreds of minor rebellions or conspiracies that need to be put down. It makes perfect sense for the Emperor to have multiple high-level agents that he can dispatch to deal with sensitive matters (this is also addressed in the old EU- they were called Emperor's Hands), and the Imperial military is of course, a military, which means it almost certainly has its own intelligence/counter-intelligence agencies.
Vader is the big dog, but it's nonsensical to think that he should be at the forefront of every major event within the era.
I'm assuming that piece is official promo art, as I've found it now on several news sites. The fact it has the same lay out as all the other character intro art helps.

I went searching for it and found it and a bunch of others on some guy's Deviant Art site. I think they're (convincing) fakes. I'd very much like to be wrong about this.

Yep. I find this one interesting as it's very much showing a progressive step to how they got to Vader's version from the standard TIE.

Imperial Knights are awesomeness incarnated. Legacy and Knights of the old Republic are my favourites out of EU. Clone Wars were cool, while I've lost interest in the Rebels after the first interview with the designing team.

It's a shame we may never see the Knights again now that Dark Horse lost their rights and Marvel seems uninterested in continuing Legacy was a bright spot in the past few years of rather bland and crappy EU content.

Which would be fine by me. She is my favorite character from the Clone Wars series, followed by the clones of Domino Squad (thought Fives got a raw deal in the end)

Hmm... still maintaining the wild swings in tone that Clone Wars had; one minute wacky comedy, the next people dying horribly. And I have a feeling that antagonists who can't hit the broad side of a barn fighting heroes who can kill 4 guys with 4 shots will get old real fast.

The protagonist can't hit worth spit either until they're being chased. Look at the scene where the Jedi's shooting the Imperial Scout behind cover. He's not even shooting near the scout or his cover.
Every single person in that trailer is a terrible shot until they NEED to hit. Even the TIE is such a good(read: lucky) shot when he hits that he only destroys exactly the spot between the important box and the kid.

I don't know, it worked for IV-VI
Assuming the tone is a range from brought the series rather than sudden jumps, can't see it being an issue. I'd rather watch something that goes from lighthearted to deep than 20+ episodes of tragedy or pointless humour. A mix is the best of both worlds.
