Don't worry, the Iron Warriors are just there because they heard the Phalanx has a smashing disco.

A normal Marine with a power sword, because I may be some random guy but at least I am not the target for the fire or any enemy champions/close combat specialist first, leaving me free to charge recklessly towards the enemy with my power sword and zeal. I have seen what happens when my army gets outflanked, my emperors champion and vanguard veteran squad died in a hail of plasma, bolter and melta . So yeah give me a nice job being the random guy who is not the centre of attention with my squad so I may actually do something other than take half an armies worth of shooting and then fail the 4 inch charge and have another shooting phase to suffer and finally die .

But nameless plebs are the first to die! The Emperor's Champion wears the Armour of Plot with a 2+ rerollable save.

true for most, but I roll a 1 when I have a 2+ half the time, can roll 3+ and 4+ for my guardsmen and scouts, just not 2+. To be honest I roll crazy, so might just be my experience, but yeah my normal guys are more reliable with saves and tend not to die unless the enemy is using an AP 3 weapon. I am one of those people that defies normal statistics, everyone knows at least one . Knowing my luck allow me to re roll a 2+ four times I will fail 2 or 3, but give me 9 dice to roll for my favourite but normal marine's save and he will pass most, if not all . Plot armour won't save me, I am doomed if I even considered trying it on. In my Imperium, hero's are just cannon fodder for the nameless plebs fear the random guardsman.

Deathwatch mind.

Unfortunately I havent gotten to play the Apothecary, only time I have played I was a Raven Guard Sniper. (Using home ruling cause they didn't have rules yet, and the Superior Raptors rules hadn't come out yet either. That delicious, delicious Chapter Trapping sight)

I picked Chapter Master because I am that guy who will call down an orbital barrage on a half beaten enemy 15 feet away, then charge them!

Denmark.

A regular Space Marine Tactical. Well trained, experienced, wields one of the most versatile weapons the Imperium can offer in masse and has gear for most circumstances - A combat blade for close quarters, grenades for boom of varying colours, spare ammunition, a healthpack or two, some amulets of my Chapter and of my faith and, within my armour, safely tucked away so the Chaplain don't see it, a little memoria of the home I'll never see again... Love for home can be stronger than faith of the Emperor

Maybe I get a commotion for my valiant actions against the Tyranids on Ultramar and are elevated to 1st Veteran, because I don't fit as a leader. Maybe the Chaplains discover my defunct indoctrination and want my open mind fixed. Maybe my Chapter Commander don't want to lose a warrior with such experience and fervour in battle, and so sends me off to the Deathwatch to fight Tyranids. Maybe I advance and become a Sergeant there, showing my skills with a regular weapon and how experience accounts for much to any warrior, how the fears of a common soldier is better than the steeled mind of a zealot. Maybe my body is destroyed and put into a dreadnought, now revered for both my experience, fortitude and strength. Maybe I'm made Captain of the Deathwatch. Maybe I stay a Tactical.

That's the thing that Tacticals get that others don't - Possibilities. Futures.

To quote Aaron Dembski Bowden: "Maybe you come, maybe you go. Maybe, maybe, maybe."

Chaplain for sure would be fun. Leading the battle in the honor of the emperor and getting other marines pumped up to kill or be killed. Close combat with a big holy power mace! Also as a Black Templar the Chaplains mean a little more than other chapters.

Otherwise Devastator Marine, or Predator Driver would be pretty fun. I want to fire the big guns and watch stuff explode.

Given I have a tendency to become an angry marine irl and have had some rather passionate outbursts,
I would have to be a chaplain, since they do the most cursing and holy smiting, but I'd add more F*** YOUs to my holy liturgies.
