Yeah they are definitely not supposed to be identical. The fusilier and alguacile that are aiming their combi were both a little awkward to get lined up though, what with having three contact points, and the fit didn't seem as 'perfect' as all the other models.

Loving how surprisingly solid the paper terrain is, not entirely sold on putting old boxes in the bottom of the larger blocks though. It's supposed to add more rigidity to the structure as an option but it just seems to push the building slightly out of shape. Paper mat took a little while under some heavy books to get entirely flat too but it's hardly intended for constant play outside of O:I missions.

I'm going to be stiffening the buildings with foamcore (because I have a crapload of it) instead of the little figure boxes.
The mat won't get used at all (the group I play with have several tables worth of lasercut mdf terrain).

It's been delayed for everyone who didn't get a early release from Gencon or wherever else - as demand was pretty much twice the supply. So they put a hold on release while they had more copies made to cope with the demand.

Hopefully it will be out in October - and the rules the next month.

I can't help but feel that the delay is a good thing. If the games hit the point where demand for the pre order outstrips what they planned to last for ~6 months or so to the point where a whole second run was ordered, it can only be to the benefit of the community. That many new players is a great thing. I'll take a few weeks delay if it means that many more people playing.

Plus, the closer the Icestorm release date to the release date of N3, the better.

I already had to tell my players when demoing for them: "So this is how it works in N3, but we play it differently now".

Wish I could say we were in the same boat but still waiting on the games & gears board to arrive after their KS, even with the table option though I'd be inclined to use the O:I mat for the O:I missions just for repeatability's sake when teaching new players. I'm sure I saw someone mention getting it laminated on another thread so I might try to find a place that could do that.

I don't mind waiting. It's given me time to finish my extra nomads.

Lol. The models in that box ARE my "extra" models.

I currently have nothing in my infinity stuff to paint (Sure, there is stuff I could add to existing armies but no dealer currently has what I want - and that's cool - as they will have new stock in a couple of weeks when I do my annual pilgrimmage to a games con and loot the vendors there.

Managed to get the arms lined up, but not in the position they should be...

Spoiler:

Hey Riquende, where is that base from?

I think that is the fusilier that gave me some trouble too. And one of the Antenna on the Mobile Brigada. Attach those before you glue the head in place.

No pictures of unpacking. However a tip. If you want a digital image/file of the Lieutenant Order marker, you can find it in the Beast of War quickstarter rules on the last page. Apparently, we will need those for N3.

@Red Harvest - Appears to be one of the 'landing pad' range of bases from Antenocitis workshop. Looking forward to him expanding the range as I'd love to use the arc markers he's done for his bases but they don't work on the slight angle of standard bevelled bases.

Picked mine up from the post office today. It's really nicely done, I like the stamps on the cardboard boxes with the factions in them.

I just got a reply to my email to Neal at the Warstore, he said UPS should have picked up the shipment from CB yesterday, so hopefully the Warstore will get their stock this week. Miniatures Market may be in the same situation.

Grabbed Operation Icestorm today at a Wayland Games promotional event, its my first foray into Infinity and Iove the look of the models in it. I also grabbed some paints to do my new project with.

I have some issues though, the first is that the Father Knight wasn't anywhere in the box, which I could probably get sorted out I guess but it's a bit of a pain in the ass. The second is that the fluff section is pretty underwhelming at all of 5 pages across the book ; 1 (well actually half a page) for a rough outline summary, two form a wishy washy at best story about a non-stop swearing and insult filled pre-operation meeting between the Nomad forces, while there are two pages worth of short paragraph descriptions for all the factions later in the booklet.

Would have been nice to know a bit more about the PanO and Nomads and maybe some fluff/writing on how the operation actually went down.

There's also the fluff text next to pictures of every model included.

To be honest, the Icestorm booklet contains as much fluff as I'd expect from a quickstart 'intro' publication. As I understand it, the main rulebooks usually contain lots, lots more, and don't forget you can click on any unit in the Infinity model catalogue and it'll give you a short summation of the unit's capabilities and history.

“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.”

The fluff is in the rulebooks. What you got was a Quickstart guide. Just like the rules are very brief to introduce you to the game, so to is the fluff.

If you want the full fluff for the game, buy the 3rd edition rulebook, Human Sphere and Paradiso. This will also get you all of the rules, army lists, weapon and unit profiles, etc. So sort of win-win. If you go the equally viable route of downloading the free rules from the Infinity website, however, you won't get the fluff.

So I've gotten mine, built it and taken it to a local club day.

Absolutely gorgeous models, very good amount of fluff and art for what it is. Decent terrain/mat and a nice little shout out to their partners making better stuff, good little bit about moving forwards.

It got some people interested and really that's the biggest part.
10/10, best starter I've ever held.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

Interestingly I just got an email from a CS person at Miniature Market, and they told me that they had no information about a delay on shipping out O:I. That said, the didn't give me a date on which they expected to ship, only that I would be notified.

I was told about two weeks ago by miniature market that CB had just shipped their order & they expected to start shipping in "a couple weeks" however just this past week I got an email from CB saying that retail orders were just shipping that day so who knows.

Talked to them today, they are 2 miles from my house , they still have not recieved their shipment "it's in transit ", no expected date.

I just ordered mine yesterday from thewarstore.com, I hadn't ordered yet, and wasn't because I couldn't get the csu figure because of no preorder (I was out of funds and still on the fence about getting into infinity), but Neil had a limited supply WITH the csu figure coming in and I snatched the last one. But his are stuck in customs being inspected for safety , maybe the shipment us in the same container as the one for miniaturemarket.com
