Cheers chaps!

@Thraxas: Ah, I can never have too many Dreads, I'm afraid! It's more stuff like tanks and flyers that I find really boring to paint. Hence why I have a bunch of Drop Pods and Rhino hulls that I know I really should get round to but haven't yet... Cheers for the offer, though!

I'm gone for a few days and you paint like... 10 marines!!! How I hate you!

Been a bit slow, but I've made some progress on the Harlequins!

First, my challenge entry this month, a Skyweaver... must admit I'm not 100% sure about this, but it looks passable alongside with the others... I shan't be doing the other onefor a while, though, it was a bit of a pain to build and paint!

And the first Troupe finished up (well there is still one guy, but they're at least a unit now!)

And I kitbashed a Solitaire, all the parts are from one Harlie set other than a pair of DE legs, pretty pleased with this guy... technically he shouldn't have a sword but Rule of Cool and all that!

So here's where the Space Elves are at so far, definitely pleased with the scheme now there's a few done up together. Also getting faster at it, so the next squad should be quicker in coming together.

That's all for today, thanks for looking! Any thoughts welcome!

Harlies are looking very nice Para. That skyweaver is a bit of a dick to do eh?! A little motley on the front cover or hood or whatever it's called might really bring a little extra magic to it or is motley totally off the cards?
Great job anywhichcase

Seriously though, I really dig your Harlequins. Your style works really well on these normally bright and colourful fellas. Bike looks great, though the photo is a bit small.

I really like the look of the Skyweaver, I think the carapace on the bike looks great as do the troupe, the bold central colours really draw the eye. I think the Solitaire is a good conversion as well, it just needs a touch more detail work on the rune on his jacket and maybe a bit more definition/pop on his big central Spirit Stone.

I like the harlie colours!
Not an army I'd attempt, I can't do neat edges. Hehe.

Photography comment (as always) your man pic for the skyweaver looks like it has motion blur? Might be Dakka compression but I don't think it shows off what you did very well.

Thanks all!

Regarding the Jetbike, to be honest I don't want to do anything else to it, as I'd rather leave it a passable model than mess it up trying to do something fancy like a chequer pattern and getting it wrong. The blend itself I'm quite pleased with, it's just something about the overall look that's a bit off. It was a pain to paint and even harder to get good pics of, so I'm just going to let it sit for a while before doing the other one, I guess

@Thraxas: Ouch, I hadn't realised how atrocious the Soli's rune looked in those pics, the light caught it at just the wrong angle and it doesn't look nearly as shiny/poorly defined in real life! I'll try and get some better pics of him and the bike next time the camera's out.

No worries Para, my miniature photographs err on the side of terrible so I am hardly one to find fault. I cannot count the number of times I have been dissatisfied with how one of my minis looks in pictures when compared to real life.

Is Eldrad up soon?

Eldrad will be coming soon, I'm saving him for next month's challenge but he'll be done in short order once I can start. In the mean time, I'm thinking I'll bash out some Stormcast or Bloodbound as a change of pace, and I should have my SLAUGHTERPRIEST WITH HACKBLADE (such a ridiculously over the top name deserves capitalisation! ) arriving with the new WD at some point as well.

I love how while I'm still contemplating getting Death Watch you've got it and already painted it lol

The harlies look great. I really like the cold almost metallic look your strippled/drybrushed ice highlight gives the blue.

Your Bloodbound are some of my favs out of your recent work so I can't wait to see your SLAUGHTERPRIEST WITH HACKBLADE.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

Couple of bits to show today.

First off is the Dread from Death Masque, painted up to join my Crimson Fists as a Venerable. I'll get round to doing the other guns eventually, but at the moment they're sorely lacking in AT shooting so I prioritised the Lascannon. Chose the parts that would make him look solid and boxy, he may be a Venerable but the CF are still a no-frills Chapter for the most part so I avoided the curved panels more suited to Ultras or BA ect.

And the sculpt that's taking the gaming world by storm, carried on a tide of White Dwarf covers and internet hysteria, the mighty SLAUGHTERPRIEST WITH HACKBLADE.

Jokes aside, it's a really nice model, great pose and a real sense of menace to it.

White Dwarf itself is back on form as well, I'll write up a proper review at some point but the gist of it is that all the old favourites like Blanchitsu, Golden Demon showcases, full-length batreps and such are back, and the production quality is great as well. Definitely worth picking up a copy, and not just for the free SLAUGHTERPRIEST WITH HACKBLADE!

That's all for today, thanks for looking and don't forget to SLAUGHTERPRIEST WITH HACKBLADE!

Dread is looking great Para. Finished building mine as a blackshield with easter eggs. Be a while before I get him pinted though. I managed to order a copy of WD from my flgs. Last copy apparrently. So glad Blanchitu survived. Should have my PRIESTSLAUGHTER WITH HACKEDBLADE by the weekend. was thinking of making him a huge admech heavy weapon servitor but he's a really nice fig inhis own right...hmmmmm

My Dread is Crimson Fists too, broskis. Borealis looks really cool, I like the work on the base as well, is it dry brushing or washes?

The HACKPRIEST WITH SLAUGHTERBLADE looks great, I especially like the shoulder armour, the grey/green colour looks ace. How did you achieve it?

Cheers folks!

@Jan: Must admit, I had similar thoughts, he'd make a great truescale Chaos Marine, and I had the parts to do it, but in the end I didn't want to change a model that just 'works' as well as this one... might get another down the line, though!

@Thraxas: The base is just sand>wash dark brown (thickly applied), drybrushed ivory, it gives some nice contrast without being too fiddly. The SPwHB's shoulder is just my normal NMM dark metal, the green on the HACKBLADE was done by just introducing some green into the later drybrushes as it got lighter, it gives a tint rather than being an actual green blade like you'd see on my Stormcast.

Very nice roughed up Dread you got there Para. I also really like the white on the SLAUGHTERPRIEST WITH HACKBLADE. It's a nice touch.

Love how the dread has red for both "fists" as the Las-cannon set up is his "right fist" Red painted stability collar on the barrels was a nice touch!

Slaughter Priest looks total bad-ass! scary looking guy to face on the fields.

WD is back to the good old days style, and not just a massive catalog for "flavor of the month"?

Glad you noticed the red LC, this guy is/was a Veteran so by rights, should have two red 'fists'. I plan to work something similar into the Plasma and Assault Cannons when I get to them.

The new WD does have an air of finding its feet, and yeah, it is still trying to sell you stuff, but it does show a lot of promise. Lots of good-quality pics, plenty of articles (some are a bit short, but there are some good ones too, there's a nice lengthy Deathwatch section with a bunch of design notes and artwork). I definitely don't regret subscribing, I think it'll be a good read each month.
