I have used it a fair few times, but I have pretty much always changed my mind shortly after. Can count at least 3 people who have been there who I now count as at least sort-of-friends.

Oooh, That was fun. I just cleared my ignore list and pruned my friend list (if I can't remember why you're on there, off you go). Let's see what happens now.

I am completely opposed to ignoring the posts of any other member, regardless how much I disagree with them or find their comments distasteful.

Wow someone started a thread but no one's posted on it...

I have one person on ignore and I put them there recently.

I was working nights and I just wasn't in the mood for their rude crap. They were disparaging another member for no reason at all and when I called them out on it, they doubled down. I just checked and they haven't posted since that incident.

I am like other people that have already posted, insofar that there are people I vehemently disagree with but I still value their contributions to whatever the topic on hand is. Ignoring people that disagree with you doesn't get anyone very far.

Yes, I believe that is the case!

You'll find that many people can't resist the temptation and go ahead and 'look' at the 'ignored' posts anyway.

I've only used it once or twice. It's a rare occasion that the irritation caused by someone's ignorance outstrips its entertainment value.

The main person i use it for is a big feminist/femi-nazi person on here. I'd get more specific but that'd get dangerously close to revealing her (though i'm sure the description narrows it down).

She ignores me too so it's mutual.

I can only say there are about 3 people anywhere i hate with a passion and she often makes that list. That's a pretty huge accomplishment really.

You should stay away from most off-topic threads if you want it to stay that way. Anything political, generally stupid or otherwise filled with rigid unbending personalities that must have their way in a thread that attracts such a person (that last bit sounded kind of dirty) is generally somewhere to stay away from.

I use it a lot in OT, but never in the P&M forums.

See this is exactly the kind of thing I was talking about in my post.

There are about 3 people in this thread who I currently have on ignore, so I'd say not nearly often enough.

Not using the forum's ignore function, but an addon that truly ignores people so you literally see nothing of said person anymore. Using it mostly because of another forum, not sure if I even have dakkanites on there.

I believe in a very strong freedom of expression, which mandates not only the ability to say what you like, but also have a voice - that is, the right to be heard. Obviously forums have their own rules, but I am able to at least enforce my principles upon myself.

Have you been on 4chan lol? I don't really look at much on there but i can't really be bothered. I'm totally fine with people doing and saying as they please. My problem is more people being jerks to each other. I make inappropriate jokes a lot however it didn't go so well on here when i made some asian Engrish humor on here after i tried to make fun of the last tau codex's new units (that was only a part of it but the topic kind of flopped anyway). Yeesh i guess some people are overly sensitive. It's strange as when i'm making fun of whatever i wish i tend to be really funny but most jokes end up being inappropriate and something i can't put on here.

Don't get me wrong, we all slide into negativity on occasion; just check out many of my posts in the Mantic N&R threads.. The difference here is just outright hostility for no other reason than someone disagrees with you. I try to always see the other side, even when I may not agree with that person and that usually keeps me on an even keel.

Another tactic for forum peace; I try to stay out of Off Topic.

One user no longer posts here, and the other still does.

It doesn't work very well, as everyone often ends up quoting and responding to that user anyways.

Just read an uncensored post from the user i was talking about and was reminded why i ignore them in any thread which isn't strictly about games currently being played or some topic that usually shuts out a person's opinions.

Did you ever look at a person and what they write sometimes and ask yourself "How the h*ll does this person have so many steam friends or online friends?!"

I've been on here for a hot minute, and I've never used the Ignore button. To be honest, I enjoy reading their craziness.

That's interesting. Is it a greasemonkey script, or something entirely different? I've considered setting something like that up but it feels like too much effort for the actual gain you get out of it.

I have two people on ignore, not because I hate them or anything, just simply hadn't enjoyed a single one of their posts and found them generally obnoxious/moronic. I have to really, really dislike a poster for them to end up on ignore usually, though.

Also, I feel I've mellowed a lot over the last year. Can't see me ever adding to the list again, but no real motivation to remove anyone either.
