Yes, the circular template has 10 directions now instead of the 9(?) it was before. However, dispersion direction is now determined by a fresh roll and is unrelated to the roll that was made for successful placement. This means that it is purely a random number generator now and you could just as accurately use the old template or even a dreaded scatter die from another game.

Any clue when we'll get complete updated army lists for N3 with HS & Paradiso profiles?
When they're done? AB5 is in the works, and (again) has been slated for late January. February is the tentative start for ITS 2015 season.
We'll be extremely lucky to get them any update PDFs before then. Feel free to play with your lists as is until then.
Don't get me wrong here. Army Builder is a nice bonus in my accounting of things. CB is in no way obligated to make that work any time soon & there are plenty of fan made alternatives that will pop up.
I just thought we'd have an idea when to expect the full army list PDF.
I'm not really sure what we're supposed to do with the new but limited profiles in the new book. They're more of a sampling of what to expect when everything is finalized than anything you'll be able to play with.
Either way, I need to re-read the N3 rules anyway to be sure I understand all the changes. Feels like I just bought a textbook for an upcoming class...
Is that a natural 21?

Template is still 120mm. Icestorm template at 125mm was an Oops moment.
Textbook, yes, exactly. I feel compelled to take notes while reading the PDF, so I figure I might be tempted to highlight the physical book when I get it. i won't actually highlight it, but I will probably take notes.
Will the test be multiple choice?
Army builder, according to its programmer, they want to release when ITS 2015 emerges. Maybe they'll have it ready sooner.

I get the feeling that always being able to dodge a template weapon, and on base physique if you see it, and only a paltry -3 if you can't, was meant to drastically tone down template spam or cheese.
Heck, before I got into infinity, one of the things I heard others complaining about was the situation with templates.
Really sad to see the army wheel missing from the new site. I liked to use that to plan out purchases where I could see all the models of the same faction on the same page.

Someone on the official board said it's apparently coming back, but wasn't ready for this version of the new website. Just give it a little time.

While that Tohaa Rasail boarding team is absolutely awesome looking, I'm not sure I need them.
I already have models of the same type equipped the same way for each of these, so it seems like I could use those models to represent this team if needed.
I.e., I have two Chaksa with heavy flame throwers, and a Kamael with spitfire and combirifle. Is there any good reason I could not just use my existing models?
As far as I can tell, they are even WYSIWYG (which I know is more relaxed in Infinity, but is actually fulfilled in this case).
Thoughts appreciated!

Not technically WYSIWIG, those Rasail have Symbiont armour, and Kamael don't.
I don't think you'll have too much opposition outside of some people not liking proxying if there's a model available and all you're doing is proxying standard models for them (conversions or alternate range models are the obvious exceptions).

The Rasail Boarding Team is meant to be similar to the ALEPH "Deva+Devabot" or PanOceania "Auxilia and Auxbots"--or in the Tohaa's own Gorgos and Chaksa Perifical. They're two models synchronized and working together.
Plus, unlike the Kamael you put in your example? The Rasail comes with Symbiont Armor on the Tohaa portion of the synchronized team.
The biggest thing they offer is another non-Tohaa Triad choice where you don't need to have three models Linked up.

They're down right now because the whole site is down...
“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.”

Seems that nobody can really read it due to the site being down.
Did anybody get a chance to read this article before the website went down?
We'd all love to know what they've got to say
It's just an overview of the changes of template weapons from N2 to N3. Reposting here:
Spoiler:
N3 - TEMPLATES OF MASS DESTRUCTION (Part One)
This article is a brief explanation about Template Weapons in Infinity N3 for Infinity N2 players. However, it will be useful to all newcomers who want to know more about the game mechanics of these weapons.
There are some major changes in how template weapons work in the new edition.
There's a clearer distinction between Direct Template Weapons (DTWs) like Chain Rifles and Impact Template Weapons (ITWs) like Missile Launchers, rather than them being called Direct Template Weapons and Template Weapons.
Both share a number of qualities:
The ARM or BTS bonus for partial cover is ignored - something that's always seemed a little odd in N2 for flamethrowers etc.
Whether a trooper can be hit by the template depends on whether Line of Fire can be drawn from the Blast Focus of the template - the middle of the circular template and the small end of the teardrop templates.
Models that have LoF to the firer get to Dodge with no penalty (assuming they have an ARO or the second skill of an Order) compared to a -6 penalty in N2.
Models that have LoF to the firer get to Dodge with a -3 penalty (assuming they have an ARO or the second skill of an Order) compared with being auto-hit in N2.
The template is placed as soon as the firing skill is declared.
DTWs still auto-hit and still offer no 'protection' for the firer in terms of an opposed roll.
ITWs roll to hit the main target but any of those hits are then used against everyone else under the template in opposed Face to Face rolls.
In this article and also in a further one we will review the changes in each type of Template Weapon.
BALANCE CHANGES - DIRECT TEMPLATE WEAPONS
For cheap Warbands with DTWs, the DTWs become an option rather than their main purpose. On the one hand the template is far easier to avoid so is less powerful, on the other hand because the template is much easier to avoid the targets are less likely to be shooting back. That cover bonuses don't apply just reinforces this. In N2 the targets would almost always choose to shoot back because a normal PH10 trooper would need to roll against PH4 (20%) to not get hit. Now that's bumped up to 50% it's worth considering. Overall, this moves Chain Rifles away from being primarily offensive weapons and closer to being harassment weapons, forcing enemy troopers to duck their heads down as the Warband charges in.
For Camouflaged troops with DTWs (mainly the Ariadnan Chasseurs and Nomad Prowlers with Light Flamethrower or the Ariadnan SAS with Chain Rifle) things are a bit more awkward - they're no longer getting auto-hits followed by unopposed rolls from the survivors - on the other hand because the targets can Dodge with a reasonable chance of success they may be getting shot less.
Against Camouflaged troops, DTWs become exceptionally useful - because the 'first strike' effect of uncloaking has been replaced by the -3 Modifier for Surprise Shot, there's no way to kill the template-wielder before they get to template you, other than shooting them from outside template range. In addition, being charged by a Camo or Impersonation marker now lets you use a DTW in response because the enemy marker gets revealed back along their whole movement path.

The models Corus Beli are putting out keep getting better and better. It's a shame I can't seem to get my gaming buddies to give it a try.
As an aside, does anyone have an idea which yellow was used on the Rasail boarding team? I need it.

Is there any possibility there will be new units when the profiles for HS, Paradiso & anything else come out?
Corregidor got new units in N3; jaguars & bandits. Hassassins got new Govads. There's a few other examples. It would seem they're making an effort to add some missing unit types to sectorials, Corregidor for example getting WB & infiltrating camo units.
I thought the point of a sectorial was that while excluding some unit types, you can take more of other types with link teams. Continuing with Corregidor as the example, they've lacked smoke, infiltration & WB, but get more of the hard hitting straight up combat units with MI & AD choices.
What I'm really getting at is:
Should we expect new units across the board for each faction in an effort to give existing sectorials an all encompassing selection of unit types?
Or will new releases be strictly confined to what will soon be new sectorials, Tunguska, USAriadna, etc?
I'd like to see some new units for JSA. However, as they're meant to be an all out assault force I don't see them getting that kind of attention any time soon. They have everything to achieve that, but something like a WB or a tougher HI choice might be interesting. I hope Raiden Seibutai are tweaked to stack up better against other factions' MI fire support choices. The obvious effort to overhaul vanilla Yu Jing would seem to take precedent for now though.

Yeah, every faction included the core book received ~2 new units. I figure that when Aleph and Tohaa drop, they will get +2 units or so. But HS/Paradiso wont get any new units (maybe new profiles on existing units, but not whole new units). It is simply meant to bring N3 up to speed with where 2nd Edition was sitting at the end of its life.

I noticed the N3 rulebook at a local store the other day. Was interested in picking it up because I've been wanting to try out Infinity but still haven't really taken the plunge yet, but uh...is it supposed to be $80? That just feels like a mistake.
If it's not, then...wow. Why?
Also, I assume Icestorm doesn't have the full rules in it, either?
