Interesting titbit on the Beasts of War weekender,

They're doing an Infinity weekend bootcamp thingy (where you pay to go and play with them), and they'll not only have Carlos over there for it too, but they'll have never to be released Infinity minis for the players too

Wonder what they'll be and whether any of them will hit ebay?

Are you sure they're "never to be released" and not just "never before released?"

Yeah. There are some models that never made it to production status for one reason or another.
They went all the way to full mold status with masters, but then were deemed not good enough or something.

There were some Ghulam Infantry shown last year that fit that profile as they were done not long before CB started CAD and then did the boxed set.

It was also a mix of old and new(ish). It was the starter box Ghulam design (which is slightly different to the SWC box design) with the old HMG design (which was totally redone in the SWC box).

They mentioned that when they showed the art. Like the Caskuda, it's a test to see if they can do such a thing.

I do like that they're trying to release a Maghariba that's as close to the concept as possible. As much as I love the original, it does look a little basic these days compared to some of the later TAG releases. It would have been very easy to make a small update to that chassis design that no-doubt would have sold very well.

Contrast with another company, where apparently the design of a certain chibi-hawk (and the reason it looks like one of those super-deformed car drawings) was down to the need to fit the chassis components onto a single sprue..

That pic got me salivating over the mag last summer and I was really hoping it would be the marque release for gencon this year like they did with the a TAG a few years back. If they're doing another two faction intro starter this year as hinted a few pages back, that likely won't happen.

I doubt we get a new starter so soon. One reason is it USAriadna is the star of the painting class, a sectional in the next book coming up. The other is the 2 faction starters are likely to remain non-sectional and (this is just me) but with the production problem from the last starter I would think they want at least 2 years in-between the 2 faction starter. So they can get a couple months of models ready incase they get another cluster f. Unless they didn't learn anything from the O:IS release.

I would guess other then the Merc unit, if we are really lucky we will get early sells of AF or it could be a second Art Book (if so I hope is setting base over unit based). But, no matter we should know soon what they are going to have.

Just because the painting class is focused on USAriadna does not preclude a new two player box. Remember that last year, PanOceanian Fusiliers were the focus for the painting class with Angel. USAriadna models do not need to be in a Sectorial either.

And they do not presell their books at GenCon or other events. It is always models.

Huh. I liked the original design, but I think I like that one even more. Odd though, that the original design looked more high-tech. This one looks almost creepy.

I like the Naff except for the helmet. Like the old visored ones.
I have three old ones though so I may not even get these.

Well, I did have hesitation about them redoing the Naffatun but have to say that looks fantastic!

Love the concept, will be interesting to see how it translates with the miniature.

I quite like them, too. There's a little bit of Corregidor in the equipment, befitting Haqq's connections with the Nomads, while the ribbed material on the arms and legs really looks like flame-retardant protective fabric to me for some reason.

While all the Haqq models kick ass, it's nice to see a little variation. The units need to be a little more distinct from each other what with everyone wearing combat fatigues and a visor.

It's the symbol of the Caliphate sectorial. It's the same symbol that we've seen on the Maghariba Guard.

Of course, there is nothing to stop you just using them in a standard faction rather than sectorial.

I primarily play Qapu Khalqi, but have models from outside their allowance so I can just use the standard list from time to time. With the new combined order/command token rules, you don't lose out nearly as much in the N3 rules to mass movement of troops as you did with the previous edition.

I find sticking to a sectorial too limiting. Factions have a lot of variety.

I love my QK stuff, but the Hassassin stuff is badass too, and the Caliphate and Khanate stuff we have at the moment is fantastic as well. Too much awesome to stick to just a sectorial.

I hope not - I've been waiting for the Al Medinat sectorial for a while now.

Did anyone disagree? It's pretty clearly the Al Medinat/Caliphate symbol.

Just in case:

The Sultanate of Funduq "controls" (how much control can you have over a buch of corsairs, pirates and mercenaries?) the Qapu Kalhi.
The Shanate of Iran Zal Amat is where the Hassassin Society is based (or where the thing as close as a base they have is located).
The Khanate of Gaqbar is sorta there with the maffia, its wild territories and the greatest Silk production.
The Caliphate of Al Medinat is the Search for Knoweledge capital, most of the universities and laboratories are there.
