16 sectorials in AF, exciting stuff. Looking forward to seeing the concept art at GenCon.

16 new sectorials. Holy feth. I think I'm going to stop trying to got everything for Haqqislam. Or maybe sell my Tohaa.

Infinity has currently eight general armies, sixteen new sectorials frankly doesn't strike me that odd. Though I haven't seen the video, ergo my first question would be, if this means Mercenaries and 0-12 are finally getting their profiles. Unpleasant implications what would that mean for new releases.

I'm more interested in the profile updates. If that means my Acontecimento will stop collecting dust and Bolts have a role that doesn't require your lieutenant getting himself killed, I'd be a very happy man.

It's not that 16 sectorials is odd, it's just it sounds a lot when you actually put a number on it.

Interesting. I love how some of the designs are actually referenced to some of the things coming out of R&D these days. Like you say the two-wheel drive being a fairly recent production development (I know a Yamaha raced in the Paris-Darak with it recently, apparently really great traction), as well as the Penithesilea/Yojimbo machine that has the swing-arm as a stressed member of the chassis, and connected directly to the engine block. Again something Ducati had been experimenting with on proto-type machines. Even the fact that Penithesilea herself just has the one finger hovering over the front brake, obviously some mega braking assist on that bike!

The Aragoto bike is much the same. I assume that ALEPH buy their bikes from a Japanese manufacturer (who probably builds Probots, too). I don't know if Yojimbo also bought his from them, or if he's nicked one when Pentesilea wasn't looking.

As for the similarities between the Desperado and the Hardcase, look again at the concetpt art - all the USARiadna troops shown there are based off the same basic "dolly".

So with this 15% off sale on Miniature Market, I thought it might be a good time to dip a toe into Infinity. Is the Icestorm box still the best starting place? I don't care a whole lot about the scenery, because I over-invested in Mantic's Battlezones (honestly, looking for another reason to use them), but if the Icestorm box is still a good deal for the miniatures, I'll probably pick it up.

I ask because I've been reading up on Infinity here and elsewhere and there is a lot of talk about the new miniatures being a big improvement on the older ones; I'm just unclear how I tell what the new stuff is. Any tips? I'd like to pick up a mech or two as well, if there are stand-outs that people recommend.

I was told not along ago, that the Pan O Dragoe is "Much pew, many bang". He's next on my list. He looks insanely like a Gen 1 Transformer, to boot!

Icestorm - I think it's a great intro. Basic Rules, dice, counters, two modest balanced starter forces and two Icestorm only minis.

I say jump in. And swing down to the Infinity subs for incredibly friendly advice and chat.

the LE Van Zant is a preorder/gencon special, is that model included in all pre-orders if I were to get it through The Warstore or Miniature Market, or only if I preoder directly through CB? And is it only if I preorder during Gencon?

The Iguana or Jotum were suggested when it first came out. Nomads don't have as many in the giant robots department. PanO however has the most of any faction.
For war games veterans it's not a bad idea to peruse as much of the profiles, rules, and fluff that you can get online. While a big TAG quickly fills out your list, you'll need specialists and support units to supplement what's in the starter. Each faction has a unique approach to delivering that aspect.

The LE Van Zant only comes on his own or in the bundled rulebook/Icestorm/USAriadna sets. All of them will only be available until August 2nd

The extra 15% off on INFINITY stuff at the Miniature Market doesn't include any pre-orders though.

On top of that, I don't think the USAriadna box is on their site yet anyway!

Van Zant doesn't come in the USAriadna box at all. You have to order him on his own from the CB store between now and GenCon (or in one of the bundles with the rulebook, Operation Icestorm and USAriadna in various combinations).

The extra, dismounted driver figure for the motorcycle troop is the pre-order bonus figure.

Yeah again, they've laid all out in the videos and on their website.

1: The USAriadna box comes with the female Maverick. That will be exclusive to this box. (The Rev. Healers & Father Knight were like that in Icestorm.) Even if you buy it a year from now, that lady Maverick can only be had in the USAriadna Army box.
The army box otherwise contains the USAriadna starter & Devils Dogs. They will be released later as 2 separate items if you want them on their own. (Just like the Nomad and PanO starters from Icestorm came out later)

2: If you preorder the USAriadna box before August 2nd, you will get the dismounted Maverick. (For Icestorm you got the CSU lady for preordering.)

3: Van Zant is a GenCon exclusive. You can only get him there, or on the CB website. (They did the same with the exclusive Tabby Lyons Bolt last year.)

CB is selling bundles that include Van Zant on their site as well . So far they are exclusive to the CB website.

And unlike Tabby Lyons Bolt you will not be able to get Van Zant on her webstore like you can her Bolt with Drop Bear.

Considering Van Zant isn't bound to an exclusivity deal, maybe he may be akin to bootleg Penthesilea and be released later down the line.
