Is he the games first true 3 wound infantry? I can't recall others off the top of my head. They all fake it with NWI.

Achilles has always been an actual 3-wound infantry. It's part of his schtick, he's supposed to have TAG stats.

Ah, I've only encountered him once, so I guess I missed that.

Not an Aleph player and not a fan of their aesthetic , but I really like the look of Achilles, and his stats are scary. He shall be the top of my hitlist.

The Kerail profiles are a bit weird in that you can't actually take what you get in the box... You can't take one Kerail with both types of beast and you don't get two Kerails to take one with each type of beast.

It's not that weird when you take into consideration that this allows them to release a blister of just a Preceptor with one of the alternate loadouts.

Yeah, they could've just included another load out in the box though. You can't even take the Surda beast from the box without proxying, as the Kerails with Surdas don't come with LSGs.

It's not an issue or anything like that, it just seems a little odd.

To be fair, Achilles was the first named Aleph character released, and he's always been the shortest of them all. For all his superhero status as the best creation of the Myrmidon project, it's weird to field him.

At least this new model gives us an Achilles that hits his legend. Only Ajax should stand taller than Achilles, and for good reason.

Achilles V2 is an S5 model (and a tall one) on an S2 base.

Its the same thing as that Azra'il or whatever you call the big-arse power armored Haq unit. The first guy was tiny despite fluff, and now they've done it 'right'. If he's supposed to be a super human than larger than life proportions seem appropriate to me.

Azra'il should be bigger. The old models were iconic Haqq HI, but the new ones reflect their role batter.

I'll still grab them since I don't have an issue proxying, but I think this is a clear example of playtesting done wrong.

They said for that they were still playtesting the unit last month. So it's very likely that when they designed the box, it was legal, but during playtesting and fiddling around with it, it became an illegal combination, but too late in the production process to change anything.

That said, they should have designed the beasts the way they do remotes, with the same base model, and add on guns. Then pack enough guns to equip both, so you could decide how to do them. Doesn't solve the issue with the Kerail, but it would have solved the issue with the beasts.

In terms of proxying, it's not like there is a Tohaa SMG or another model with a Tohaa Light Shotgun to really compare the guy to.

The Kaeltar has a Light Shotgun. Proxying isn't really an issue anyway, like I said it isn't a problem really, just weird.

Im not even sure if CB think in terms of playable units when they put their boxes together. It's not the sole consideration anyway.

Am I likely to use a mobile brigada link team of 4-5 guys? Never, but I do want all of those models because they're dope.

As long as the models look good I'm ok with this newer standard. Some of their newer boxes were underwhelming though partly because CB forced themselves to squeeze out 4 different sculpts.

Achilles v2 is the same height as an Umbra Legate. This is still fine considering Achilles is supposed to be literally the posterboy for Aleph. Let him stand toe-to-toe with his mortal enemy.
