I've been playing around an idea for a list with all AV14 at 1850. Has anyone had any success with this on a competitive level. And also what kind of tactics you would use? The example I'm thinking is:

LRR x2
Land Raider Proteus
Cerberus

Add in two full tac squads and a libby and poof... Not sure if this tactic will just lead to a lot of short games, or if its too paper rock scissors

Yes.. being in the strongest box in the game is a great way to make anyone who thought plasma was better than melta hate their life.

I recommend Dark Angels for Ceramite and Belial DW Termies as troops or Templar Crusador squads with scoring LR for rage inducing fun.

I am the kinda ork that takes his own washing machine apart, puts new bearings in it, then puts it back together, and it still works.

I've considered actually bringing this. I would run two Vindicators, a Libby with a PFG and a Chapter Master with PFG and a Command Squad with Banner of Devastation, two LRCs, a Godhammer, and then a squad of bikes to further the dakka.

How do DA get Ceramite?

With the surge of new DE players, now might be the worst time to start an AV13/AV14 army.

My apologies if I were wrong but I'm sure my friend had ceramite on his LR's when he was playing DA.

Honestly you can do this with the dark angels bolter banner pretty easily. It turns all bolters into salvo 2/4, including hurricane bolters - which gives land raider crusaders 24 twin linked bolter shots a turn. Take one with a pfg Libby and banner command squad, 2 with pfg tech marines with servos for repairs and you have 72 twin linked bolter shots, 12 twin linked assault cannon shots, and 3 multi meltas all with a 4++ ... take the dw vehicle upgrade and you can make your opponent enroll pens incase he explodes one.

You could also take the command squad in a land raider achilles with melta/haywire immunity.

I've run 3 lrc at 1500 with the pfg Libby and tac squads in the other raiders and it's pretty devastating.

I know that I can give the Cerberus ceramite... don't know about the LR's tho to my knowledge...

Plus give the Land Raider Proteus sensory augury web and it gets scout as well as you can make your opponent -1 to reserve rolls

DW vehicle upgrade that must be it. I know he had something that made me reroll powerklaw pens.. I confused it with Ceramite.

In the warp, searching for Marbo

Why not try all 14AV Front?

I'm sure Guard can put forth a epic front armor 14 army! Lead by Pask-isher! Throw in a Land Raider for the hell of it!

After all these years of searching for Marbo...he found me. Heretics beware! He's back!

While AM can certainly throw out a lot more AV 14 tanks they are only AV 14 on the front... The LR is the ultimate box as the rear AV14 protects it from many medium strength CC attacks.

I'd rather count battlewagons as AV12...

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.

It's av14 vs gunlines at least. Or you could be super-careful and block av12 with blos, trucks and stuff like that - but it's not alwayz possible. Or you could ally in csm with a landraider with dirge caster. Block the bw sides + provide anti-overwatch.

But yep, on the whole, it's not the best time for av14 wall due to currently popular dark eldar/dark eldar allies haywire. It might be not so desperate for orkses but 250+ pt landraiders are suffering, that's for sure.

Ravagers got beaten soundly with the nerf bat.

Scourges are pretty scary AA now, but they're still just t3 with a 5+ and average leadership. Not terribly difficult to put down.

And once again we have to admire Codex: Orks.

- Ey, you bring lots of haywire dat invalidates av14? No big deal, my av14 is worse but cheaper and i got 5 of those - ye can't kill everything.

But guyz with more expensive vehicles will take a hit. Knights, Land Raiders, Pasknishers.

Why would I buy a landraider to block my sides, when I can just buy another battlewagon to do the same?
Forcing your opponent to go through that one battlewagon carrying just regular boyz with no special characters is one of the most important parts of playing battlewagon bash. Also, in my experience, hiding a trukk out of sight behind a wagon works better in the long run than using the trukk to provide cover.

"Against gunline" is only have true as well. During turn1 you should benefit from that AV14 against most armies, true, but as soon as you start moving towards them your front arc will quickly cover less and less of your opponent's army (unless some suicidal tau or ig casteled up in a corner), so some stuff will be able to shoot AV12 most of the time. Luckily, the AV10 is just as small as the AV14 facing, so during most games any shots that matter are hitting AV12.

Not to loose a single vehicle

But that's all just theoryhammer. If you run blitz brigade, you don't have lots of spare points. Not even touching land raider allies.

BA can do a fine AV14 list with obsec Raiders, but I wouldn't deep strike them

"lol" is right. Melta and lance are out, haywire is in. Dark Eldar get 4 haywire blasters for 120 points and a fast attack slot. And we get 6 fast attack slots per FOC.

Short of Necrons, the Land Raider Achilles couldn't find a worse matchup.

Scourge at 4+/6++, come with deep strike, and a 24" range. The haywire is blast, and BS4. Land Raiders are so large, they are very hard to miss.
I don't know about your experience, but I'm 6 for 6 for having a unit of scourge deep strike in and glance out a land raider or monolith.
That's only 120 points of shooting, in a 6 per detachment slot.

These guys are so good, I'd expect Eldar armies to start showing up with at least a unit of them, if not 2 or more units of them.

Been trying to build a quad landraider list for an 1850 tourney. Very tough to squeeze in useful/hardhitting things after the raiders. Was half thinking of filling them with ccw scouts

Well I'm a cheater. I have no idea where I got the blast idea.
That said, I'd rather hang at 24" and get a better chance at shooting twice.

Oh, absolutely. The haywire blaster doesn't need the blast rule. It's already the best anti-tank in our codex.
