Some good news and some bad news.

The good: the Succubus kit is apparently going to have eleven different heads in it - 5 horned, 5 unhorned and 1 champion.

The bad: they're still at the "Who are you going to believe, me or your own eyes?" stage of denial about everything else.

Multiple waves of pledge managers, baby. Only pay for the finished stuff once it's been shown (except the rules). That's how to deal with Mantic.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing the hard plastics. I might go in decently large once we finally see them. Or I might not and be out $1. But i'm not counting on anything till I actually see it.

The problems with the naiads is one shared with many of mantics designs, lack of background ideas. It seems that they probably just tell their concept designer: "Draw us some water creatures, let's call them naiads! Culture and background? Nah, just draw something cool, and then we'll backtrack!". And then they just post them and says: "Hey everyone, we will listen to you! Pick and choose A, B or C and then we do some design by kickstarter comments!

This. Take a well deserved Exalt, sir!

I just still use the wound counters from the original KoW Kickstarter. They work perfectly. I have two sets. Never needed any more than that.

I lost mine, but we just use D10s. Dakka D10s, as it happens.

Exactamondo! Best way to deal with them I've found.

This is a good reminder for me. I've not been overly impressed with what I've seen, but since I'm playing a bad-guy KoW army, the various Abbysal and Salamander units could find a home. If the plastic infantry units look good before the last pledge manager comes around, I could add a unit or two.

Honestly though, I'm very surprised at the number of folks who are only pledging a buck rather than $50. The rules themselves are worth it (probably won't save much at discount retail) and the freebies are fun enough. I wouldn't want to miss out on the two figs just for the sake of paying later.

I was under the impression that when the pledge manager hits we can adjust up to the $50 and still get the freebies. Am I wrong in that? I'll plop down the $50 easy, just not right before Christmas.

^Yeah we should totally be able to do that. The only time I remember there being time sensitive 'pledge before xx' rewards they very clearly stated it. I think there were a couple things for MA backers and uh.. oh yeah the deadzone veteran stuff, or at least some of it.

Yeah, that would be a quick way to throttle some good will out of their fan base. I mean what kind of miniature company would want to make a name for itself by screwing over loyal fans just because they can't spend big money at the drop of a hat..?

I pledged a buck because it's Christmas, and my money has other places to go right now - and Mantic pledged that I can PM my buck up into whatever down the road after Christmas. Their shipping is also pretty unfriendly for RoW going from $50 to, say, $60 if you wanted to add on the campaign book.

If they're going to play "pledge during the KS campaign only to receive these rewards" shenanigans after promising beforehand that people can drop a dollar and fix it all up later, then I'll keep all my money - or spend it with other companies and just use a freebie of their rulebooks.

I'll probably up my pledge to $50 in the pledge manager + one or two plastic kits if they look good. The free Blaine (which I hope we get, out of principle more than anything else) I will sell, and hopefully recover a buck or two from. Why sell him? He just tries way to hard to be cool.

Thanks!

There will be options to get pledges during the pledge manager.

Most likely not for the Tyrant pledge level, but definitely for the other two.

Dungeon Saga even specified that survey spend counts towards the $200+ freebie (the hardback book).

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

That's really good that they do that. Xmas present month, plus everything going wrong with my car made buying what I wanted to buy implausible - good that I can come back in the new year and increase my 1$ pledge to at the very least the books, hopefully an army as well.

As Azazelx says as well, also handy that if you're not sure of a concept, more chance of waiting to see what the actual sculpts turn out like before putting money down for it.

Ronnie said, at least in every interview I heard, that they realized that this close to the holidays was going to make things tight for many backers, and that they would leave the pledge manager open for people to bump up their pledges after the holidays, and that the amounts would contribute to any stretch goals.

Which is the way it's been for every Mantic KS I have backed, just that this one is promised to have a longer amount of open pledge manager time
